To think Trump is right

1000 replies

Donotpanicoknowpanic · 01/03/2025 08:04

Watching the press conference last night which descended into an argument

I can't help think Trump was right and made good points

Thousands of troops are dying and being seriously injured every month

Trump wants it to stop

There are thousands of people who have children alive today who will not be alive tomorrow because of this war

They are clearly in a stalemate and soldiers are now dying untill peace terms are made as no side can win on the battlefield

Trump as brutal as it sounds was being realistic about what peace would be like

Ukraine has to be realistic

If Ukraine sign the rare earth deal with America then America will have a stake in Ukraine and they should then get a better security deal

Trump has not agreed what that is yet, it's clear he wants the European's to form a big part of that

The European's want American troops and for good reason

But this has to stop and the only way it will stop is by peace negotiations

And these have to be realistic and Trump is saying it as it is

Sadly he likely has no choice for now. Without US support capitulation will ensure within that 5 year period. Ideally Europe have Ukraines back with boots on the ground but we know that without US support Europe wouldn't want to escalate any more.

He's being asked to pay the US to surrender.

He'd be better off just surrendering and telling Trump to fuck off.

FixTheBone · 01/03/2025 10:51

Utterly appalling from Trump and Vance, using the destruction of a country and its people as a negotiating tactic for a business deal.

If they want to be isolationist, I suggest we throw them out of the bases in UK territories.

OneLemonDog · 01/03/2025 10:48

There isn't really a deal on the table, though.

Zelensky and Ukraine aren't being offered anything.

What is there to accept?

The mineral deals with the unwritten "security guarantee" that while doesn't hold much weight it seems many in Europe still want this deal signed.

Weefreetiffany · 01/03/2025 10:53

oh dear, key board warrior calling the keyboard warriors bluff.

Really, who!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 01/03/2025 10:54

Trump and Vance were an absolute disgrace. It was all a complete set up. There is no way that Zelensky would have gone into that meeting to ask about security support if diplomats from both sides hadn't agreed it was a good idea.

Trump and Vance let Zelensky walk into a trap. Then behaved in the most disgusting way I've ever seen a politician behave. Apparently for 'great TV'.

All those crying for 'it's got to end' and that Ukraine should just keel over are scarily deluded. Where do you think Putin will stop if that happens?

Americans saying that Trump and Vance did a good thing. How would you feel if Florida was invaded? Or the east coast? Would you be happy to just roll over? Thought not.

For Trumo to accuse Zelensky of starting the war and asking him if he wanted to be responsible for WW3 is just outrageous.

Biscuitsnotcookies · 01/03/2025 10:48

I support Ukraine and can understand why Zelenskyy feels as he does, but there isn’t going to be a perfect ideal ending to this. Compromised are needed on all sides.

What compromise do you propose Russia make, then?

MumCanIHaveASnackPlease · 01/03/2025 10:55

If Trump wants it to stop then it is Putin and only Putin that he needs to be speaking with.

Russia is the aggressor. Russia is the invader and the only deal to be made here is one where Russia fucks off out of Ukraine for good.

It’s not about you is it? Do you think the Ukrainian people are not fed up of it ?? JFC

JFC?
Actually my life is about me, yes.

Ukraine already has a written security guarantee from the US, which seemingly means nothing. What possible benefit is an unwritten one? Why would you pay through the nose for that?

It's ridiculous.

Frankly, it feels rather a lot like the US is participating in the invasion.

Echobelly · 01/03/2025 10:56

No, he's wrong, certainly as far as Europe's safety is concerned. Russia invaded a sovreign state that does not want to be ruled by Russia. I have been to Ukraine and also Georgia and I can tell you they are proud countries that never want to be under Russian rule again and that feeling is incredibly strong for a reason. Zelinskyy knows Putin won't stop at what he's given in any deal from Trump, who is Putin's toy (and is too stupid to recognise it). Putin would just try to expand again and Trump would shrug his shoulders and try to blame Ukraine. It's a tough call for Zelinskyy to make, but it's the right one.

MixedBananas · 01/03/2025 10:57

I think if he can be beat buds with Nintendo then he can also have a sinilar relationship with Putin. Nintendo is a bully and ethnically cleansing and destroying Palestine. Everyone loves him. So why is it offensive to say you agree and Putin a decent fella.

Biscuitsnotcookies · 01/03/2025 10:58

Europe have the option now to support Ukraine and give Zelenskyy the option to pull away from the US.

MustardGlass · 01/03/2025 10:58

He’s trying to bully the Ukraine into a unfair mineral deal.

Mycatsasuperstar · 01/03/2025 10:58

This post is a classic example why the ability to critically think, be aware and be questioning has gone to the dogs. Frightening thinking about it.

shatteredparent · 01/03/2025 10:58

Trump and Vance are traitors to the western alliance and it's devastating to see the rules-based international order being destroyed.

And to answer your question - yes, you are unreasonable. Trump is WRONG, on every level.

Without US military stock? How much can be provided by Europe?

Zelenskyy is aware he needs US kit

Kago2790 · 01/03/2025 10:59

Should we have let Hitler stop at France, oh and let another country take Frances natural resources indefinitely?

ZebedeeDougalFlorence · 01/03/2025 10:59

Personally, op, I think that you are alluding to the complexity of this situation, which I kind of agree with. I am hard pressed to understand how this war started and who was the "aggressor". Putin stated specific terms and Zelensky refused them and a war began. But did Putin's terms involve the opportunity to expand the Russian empire or were they a bid for security? I don't know.

You can tell from my post that I am not well enough informed on this subject by a long shot. However, Trump's display on that video in front of the whole world was appalling. We saw a glimpse of how he operates and it is shocking. He is ignorant and easily angered - not someone who should have custody of the codes for nuclear war. Where he is smart however is in aligning with Russia. We in Britain seem the weakest of all, cut off from the rest of Europe in so many ways which means we will eventually have to bow to whatever Trump needs us to be. I wonder if this was Farage's vision for Brexit all along?

Yup.

"The Leader of the Free World" is now The Judas of it.

OhMargaret · 01/03/2025 11:00

American has no reason whatsoever to appease Russia, it’s not in the country’s interests on any level and they would lose nothing by publicly humiliating Putin. The fact that Trump is aligning with him is purely personal, he’s either an asset or has some kind of personal deal lined up (or both).

Theunamedcat · 01/03/2025 11:01

Trump wants to rape the country for minerals like Afghanistan he is wrong

shatteredparent · 01/03/2025 11:03

I'm also disturbed to see this thread as the top in 'Trending', even though the responses are so strongly pro-Ukraine. It might be better to start commenting on the other topics so it falls off the list.

Hence the ‘he respects me’ - there must be some kind of mutual (personal) agreement. Shady as fuck
