I'm currently abroad and came back to the room and turned on the TV to local news showing the end of the interview, I said to DH, I don't know what's happening but just LOOK at Zelenskyy's face. We turned over to CNN as it's one of the few English channels available and the reaction of all the presenters and commentators was of complete disbelief. They openly called out Vance and Trump on "Untruths". They did show a snippet of the Lindsay Graham (sp?) interview but that only emphasised how bonkers the Administration's approach to this is.

I’d like to see Princess Anne give Trump a piece of the UK’s mind.

I can’t get my head around what’s going on.

I felt queasy after watching. Feel genuine concern for what this means for Europe.

Wind back the clock 10 years and if any other country was behaving in the way that the US currently is, their solution to it would have been "regime change".

What can we all do? It’s desperate and terrifying. Even Trident can’t be used without US software support. These are deranged maniacs. Would not be surprised if America were to formally ally itself (it’s already made its allegiance clear) in war with Russia against Western Europe. Why would Putin stop with Ukraine, when he knows NATO means nothing to Trump?

I was going to say that Trump should replace the bust of Winston Churchill in the Oval Office with one of Neville Chamberlain but at least Chamberlain wasn't corrupt and venal and literally in the pocket of Hitler. Trump is Putin's puppet and the puppet of dodgy kleptocrats. They own him. You have to wonder who is in line to profit from these Ukrainian minerals? Probably the very same people who were planning to loot Ukraine's resources when Putin invaded in the first place.

The whole thing was a set up. Trump and Vance really couldn't contend with Zelensky correcting their alternative facts. And it's all very well to be against conscription but at least be consistent in your position. Russia has conscription. Russia also uses North Korean conscripts and North Korean slave labour. Israel (whom I support, btw) has national service, as do many countries. I guess we are meant to see Trump's personal Vietnam draft-dodging as the smart thing to do. Can you imagine him choosing to stay in place as Zelensky has done?

I also blame the Democrats for this. They gave Ukraine enough help not to lose but not enough help to win. Then, while Ukraine was fighting an existential war, they fielded a presidential candidate who waxed on about joy and Brat Girl summers. It was pathetic.

So much praise for the way Starmer handled Trump but now he just looks sycophantic and deluded and like he's been totally played. Rescind the state visit.

Yes I saw it on CNN and thought it an odd remark. Whatever the reason I don't know but Zelensky appears to have been set up.

I can think of one other country that got rid of its nuclear weapons ....... Ukraine. They did what people asked and now they have been betrayed.

They surely are, but also they have set up a very crude deliberate trap for him, and yet he has followed the lead. He should’ve not end up there alone, should have someone by his side to help hold fire.

We can't do anything - we can't defend ourselves against America, our nukes are based on their software. We are nothing to them, if it's Europe against Russia and America we dont have a prayer. But seems like both Trump and Putin want to obliterate Europe, so that's that. We can't do anything but be on the other end of the nukes if that's the case.
