Well, they've shown their true colours. Listening to the rest is politics the other day and Rory was saying that we've never even thought, militarily, about what would happen if America is a strategic adversary, as it was unthinkable. Would take us ten years to even get to a position of being able to defend ourselves. Well, not so unthinkable now, is it, if we do what's right. And we don't have ten years.

I’ve just been watching CNBC and CNN.
The presenters all seem horrified tbh behind their very diplomatic words. One did ask another, did Trump actually even mention about Russia being the aggressor during this entire talk? 🙈

They’ve mentioned how inaccurate Trump has been, his words about Biden, his manner in the Oval Office etc

100% agree. The question is why. Withdrawing American support won't bring 'peace' overnight. But Trump likely doesn't care, he just wants America to disengage.

Interestingly, I'm listening to Rest Is Politics US with Anthony Scaramucci who served in the first Trump administration and he's musing that the Russians won't like it that much as they dislike and distrust volatile behaviour.

I agree with your feeling of it being premeditated. Did you hear Lindsey Graham when questioned? He said he met Zelensky before the press conference and advised him not to rise to the bait, to get it over with and then meet behind closed doors to agree the deal or words to that effect. He knew beforehand what Vance and Trump were planning.

Yeah Trump does not speak well of The Mooch. He does not speak well of pretty much anyone who worked for him first term.

But you never hear anyone asking Trump why he appointed them if he so good at this; why did he not know not to hire these "terrible people"?

Interested that they said he would have been annoyed by Macron touching him and would have been watching immediately afterwards. Would he think the same about the State Visit invite? TBH my feeling about it was that it was so bizarre and so bloody awful that it had to be staged for some reason. Now I know with Trump no one can predict anything, but the fact that Vance was there and both T and V were the "bad cops" in full flight suggested some sort of "something is behind this" to me anyway.

As to why I'm not sure. But I think there was an ulterior motive, maybe a coded signal to Putin or something. Clearer and more knowledgeable heads than mine might figure something out!
