AGREED. They are scum. I just can't work out what their agenda is. Clearly they wanted to scupper any deal. But why? The whole charade was disgusting - Zelenskyy was so calm under horrendous pressure and his face showed such awful anguish yet he did not buckle and actually he wasn't rude, wasn't disrespectful and did very well to withstand the body blows from Vance with his pathetic "did you even say thankyou" etc.
Trumps plan is clearly take their minerals, hold Putin off until they've taken what they can, then off they fuck leaving Putin free rein to go back in and do them over again.
Zelenskyy was right that Ukraine alone has held off Russia all this time - using weapons from elsewhere but their own manpower alone.

Was planning another Disney Florida holiday. Im too disgusted to go back there now. The Americans voted this clown in, speaks volumes about them.

I despair at what America is doing. Trashing long relationships in a manner of weeks. Going back on agreements (Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons in the past because America daid they would support them). It appears America doesn't keep its word.

However, there are options. The UK being more closely connected with the EU seems sensible.

As pp has said it was like watching petulant toddlers. It was shameful. I have always had great respect for Zelensky and the Ukrainians who have been so brave. If possible my respect has grown. Re-join the single market, invest heavily in defence, buy military equipment from China instead of the US, form a European (inc. Turkey) defence pact. Ban twitter.

It is going to be a tough and precarious few years but the world order has seismicly shifted and we need to take radical steps to adjust.

We will be poorer in the short run, but national security has to come first. If we do not invest, and if we cannot work with European partners, there will be a major war within the decade.

Oh, and if you weren't already boycotting US products and services wherever possible, now is the time.

Vance is a disgusting vile creature. They clearly practiced their bully routine beforehand. They think it makes them look strong and it may play well with the MAGA crowd, but the normal Americans will realise the damage that has been done by this display.

All this puts Labour in a tricky spot…especially with the Royal Visit. Will be interesting to see how this plays out now. A Canadian and Aussie alliance might be our best bet, with the rest of Europe. I think we must protect Ukraine otherwise how will it end?
