He wants to make the EU, UK and Japan think that so they back off. I don't think that's going to happen.

The money the US has donated so far can be made up by everyone else, it's not actually that much. The second NATO troops are in Ukraine the US is dragged into it whether they like it or not. If Putin pushes Poland much further they will do it if they have to. They know they're next after Ukraine.

Everyone knows that Trump is "breathtakingly vain" as John Simpson put it. Everyone in GOP knows he is totally unfit for office. But they are all enabling this. Have done so for years. Have capitulated to this man who makes Caligula look a stand up guy. They have supported him despite earlier condemnations. They are destroying America and the world.

Money can always be loaned (or historical debt), the problem is the actual weapons, and the main manufacturer is the US. American arms firms would be happy to keep selling weapons to Europe. But it's also a matter of whether they can produce the weapons fast enough. A lot of the British weapons have been used, and I don't think they've been replenished.

If (or when the US) pulls out it is a question of whether Europe wants to keep funding it and how. I think Europe needs to look at increasing taxes significantly on its population to continue this war.

Actually, cancelling the State visit to the UK (if it can be done, which I doubt) might actually get Trump where it hurts. He really seems to lap up all that Royal pomp stuff.

But I do wonder about his relationship with Putin. If Putin asks Trump for something, at what point (if any) is Trump strong enough to say no? That aspect is deeply worrying.

And on a minor point, what's all this crap about Zelenskyy not showing adequate respect to the US president because he's not wearing a suit - when they tolerate Musk (also without a suit) prancing about the Oval Office like a tit.
