Zelenskyy is a brave man, and straight talking something I'd expect the Americans to admire. He has not backed down from the Russians and he won't back down from the US either. He wasn't rude or disrespectful he simply wasn't ready to give in to something that's not right for Ukraine. I have a lot of respect for him and I think he handled the meeting as well as he could have in the circumstances.

The point is that the US tech companies will try and abuse that power. They want no rules.

If the UK and the EU want to keep their democracies, they must generate their own. That is not impossible. And given growing alarm, it's an opportunity.

On a separate note, Trump has cut foreign aid dramatically, take Kenya, the US helped as did other countries with health and various programs eg to.help with HIV etc. Funding stopped. He intends to not help anyone. Many Americans will support that. However, helping brings goodwill and help back, isolationist politics don't.

Well a peace keeping force wouldn't be that aggressive either it's in the name.

Look Zelensky needed more security, Trump wasn't willing to give it and couldn't answer what he'll do if Putin broke the the cease fire.

So why did Trump and Vance had to yell at him and lie about him being ungrateful? What was the point in that?

It shows that the word of America is only as good as the length of office for that individual. Not to be trusted, if grey naked agreements they will break them.

So onwards and upwards to the future. Cannot sit around. A peace deal is needed.

It upset me so much as no-one was there to stand up with the President of Ukraine against the amateur "President" of America and his lack of moral goonies who were simpering round him. The only people being "disrespectful" in the Oval office were Trump, his sidekick Vance and all the other fawners who don't have an atom of the courage or grace of President Zelensky. How dare they mention the clothes he was wearing - they were clean, he was clean - he was attending a meeting not a garden party at Our Buckingham Palace with our King. I hope the King rescinds the invite to Trump. I so wish I had been there to tell Trump and cronies, how their lack of good breeding brought shame on America. All the money in the world cannot buy class.

Um, I think the word of America is only good for about 24 hours these days.

Zelenskyy and Europe are going to have to negotiate between two hostile dictators going forward.

It’s been embarrassing and humiliating for years that the UK has trailed around after the US, supporting it in its illegal invasions and behaviours. At least in future there won’t be a reason for any country in the world to support the US regardless. The only stable superpowers left now appear to be in Asia, led by China.

It is quite possible to watch the whole 50 min White House presser and realise that the first 42 mins are quite boring , with added alternative facts, and the WHAM JD decides to change it up.
