Yes, Ukraine got burnt when it gave up its nuclear arsenal in exchange for (useless) security guarantees. It doesn't want to be burned twice by giving up land and resources in exchange for Trump saying 'Putin will keep his word.' Sure, Donald.

BreezyShaker · 01/03/2025 18:56

Russia is totally at fault but Ukraine cannot win and are slowly losing the war even with massive support from the west. A peace agreement could at least let them keep 3/4 of a huge land mass. Russia is no threat to other countries, they can’t even beat Ukraine. Zelensky needs to be a realist, Trump wants peace, there is no alternative, however unpalatable that is. He was also rude, ungrateful (even NATO are saying this) and argumentative with Trump despite being desperate for more help.

Genuinely worried for the future with these knobheads in charge.

Should that be the solution for any invaded country, then?
Well, this is dragging on. Let's allow them to keep the area they're now in and hope pretty please they won't want more?

Yawn. This bollocks again, right on time!

Carping on again about the land grab.

And that's what Zelensky was saying: Putin has already reneged.

“He says he is "not at liberty to say what was discussed" but shares that he told Zelensky "we have to respect" what Trump has done for Ukraine so far. He adds that during Trump's first administration - from 2017 to 2020 - the US approved the sale of the Javelin anti-tank missile system which enabled Ukraine to "fight back" when Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022.

How many of those billions of US tax payers dollars given to Musk are going to find their way to Putin?

How will the MAGA cult cope when they realise that they've been played?

Agreed. A lot is said about Musk being the world’s richest man. No doubt he’s up there but is he number 1?

I think it’s actually Putin.

When Musk buys companies it’s always with a consortium. Who are these people? Because it’s all private they are not listed, I think Putin is the co financier.

That's a far cry from what you said. Your words were that NATO is saying that Zelensky was rude, ungrateful and argumentative.

I haven't seen any western leader ( except Orban but go figure...) call Zelensky ungrateful. That would also been patently untrue when he said and tweeted thanks in the meeting and right after. Heck he even went on Fox News and was utterly dignified.

I Trump really wanted peace he would have treated Zelensky with respect same as Putin and not talked over him or yelled at him. I mean even schoolchildren are taught not to behave like that.

Tell me what are the assurances for the Ukraine that Putin won't attack again? It's actually a pretty simple ask and has not yet been answered by Trump.

I saw a supercar with Ukrainian 🇺🇦 plates parked outside a gym today. The guy was just getting into his car and I could see the sadness and disappointment in his eyes.

WHY, trump?

The EU genuinely needs to kick out Hungary. They do not need a Russian agent with voting rights. Orban is a saboteur and these are dangerous times. He’s on some Vichy shit. And it can’t fly.

Maybe you should just take what Rutte acctually said and say you're sorry.

Trump always comes across as really thick when he's speaking in my opinion. Money has bought him a presidency, almost unbelievable.

Go on BBC NEWS website, those are direct quotes from head of NATO. Diplomatically saying he is ungrateful. He didn’t even say thanks when pressed last night.

kattaduck · 01/03/2025 19:15

Aren't some poster on here deeply uncomfortable to stand with Putin and Orban? I mean if these are the only world leaders my opinion aligns with it would make me question my ethics.

MotherofPearl · 01/03/2025 19:15

Why should Zelenskyy be grateful to the US or Europe? As an excellent piece in the NYT pointed out, it's we who should be grateful to Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people. They are fighting on the frontline for democracy and freedom. They are giving their lives to protect these ideals, and hold onto their country. All we've given is money and arms, which really pales in comparison.

He’s shown himself to be thick on many occasions. Like when he asked in front of cameras if we could clean inside the body with bleach to get rid of Covid.

The man is an imbecile.

Exactly.

In addition, NATO's existence and therefore Rutte's job is dependent on the US, so he's engaging in a bit of flattery towards Trump.
