I wonder whether Britain and Europe can negotiate their own mineral deal with Ukraine with better terms. For example B+E gets 40% of U minerals. This will fund us restocking and improving our own defences as well as pay for things Ukraine needs to defend itself .

This undercuts Trump and will provide more security for Ukraine.

Even if this were true, what short memories the Americans have. It wasn’t so long ago European soldiers were standing shoulder to shoulder with USA troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. We’re still in Iraq but we don’t talk about that now. What did that get us? Are we any richer? You could argue we’re actually in a more precarious scenario now than we were then in terms of global security as a direct result of those conflicts and showing allegiance to the US.
It wasnt that long ago either that Sarah Palin was telling Alaskans to arm themselves against Russians. Trump’s geography is way off if he thinks the US can hide behind behind this idea of an ocean being between them especially in this age of cyber disruption.

I like this idea of CANZAC. Let’s forge bonds with reasonable allies who share our values and the US can rejoin the table when they have something worth offering.

You've seen the calculations have you? No official in the US has backed the figure of 360 billion dollars. Only Trump pulled this figure out of thin air. There's no accounting for it anywhere. The actual figure is less than half that. Europe gifted more money to Ukraine than loaned as both Macron and Starmer told Trump. As for the mansion in Florida, that gives away the fact that you get your "news" from idiots.

Thing is, @mjf981 the problem isn’t Trump or Vance, it’s the people who vote for them. Similar mindsets are all over the world, including in the UK.
