The Chinese are doing insanely well. Much better than the US. If you look at trade patterns since 2000 the US lead the world.

In 2024, China does in trade in goods. Most of the world has already started to make a different economic choice on goods towards China. Europe and North America are still dominated by the US. Why Trump is really trying to piss of his allies and neighbours with tariffs is crazy. He's going to hurt them more than China

@LifeExperience I was going to say America can't just opt out of the rest of the world after spending decades directing it, but I suppose you can. You've clarified that you aren't advocating that we should stay close to the US at all costs, so I'm simply asking what line would need to be crossed for you to feel that the state visit should be cancelled and/or that we might need to start distancing ourselves.

Well, it doesn't take much to realise that Russia invaded Ukraine, does it? Or that the US guarenteed Ukrainian independence in return for Ukraine giving up its many nukes.

I think Vance and Trump are awful and today was just horrible. The lack of respect and diplomacy. I would treat my enemies better than this on live TV.

But I do worry about the current policy with Ukraine which seems to be to supply enough weapons so they can keep fighting but not enough support to actually win. So where does it end then? it’s like a policy of keeping it never ending really because we just want to fend off Russia from attacking other countries. There must be a better way.

Trump and Vance couldn’t have made it more clear that they want the new world order to be run by the global mafia. Since coming into office, Trump has released criminals from prison, persuaded Romania to release the misogynistic Tates, shown no respect for national sovereignty or law and order, and advertised his support for Putin (one of the richest men in the world, if you count all his hidden or frozen proceeds of crime, which the West knowingly helped him to amass via the UK and US money markets and offshore tax havens).

Zelenskyy never 'held the cards'. His country was attacked by a powerful enemy. He tried to explain to Trump and Vance in his clumsy English that Russia won't stop with Ukraine. Ultimately, America itself might be threatened. And Trump responded like a simple-minded child. 'You are in no position to dictate what we're gonna feel. We're gonna feel very good. We're gonna feel very good and very strong.'
