Why am I getting ads for a pushchair that 'moves like a gazelle'? Does it leap in terror when it sees a lion? Sounds dangerous.

As for matey girl in the picture, chopping off your nose, splitting your tongue and tattooing your eyeballs is imo harming a healthy body and I find it grotesque and foolish.

PandaTime · 25/02/2025 01:41

Piercing your ears is also harming a healthy body. As is smoking, drinking, being overweight etc. These things are just more socially acceptable.

ThisFluentBiscuit · 25/02/2025 01:56

This must be a wind-up and those photos not real, because I cannot imagine finding a surgeon who would remove someone's nose for cosmetic reasons. I don't believe this is real.

It is not carried out by a surgeon. Her nose has not been removed. Only the cartilage. The protruding part of the nose is mostly cartilage - hence skeletons have no nose. It's not a common procedure, but similar to tongue splitting and her other extreme modifications, more common in the US where she presumably works closely with experienced practitioners.

LardoBurrows · 25/02/2025 02:08

I wouldn't like to meet her down a dark alley at night, she'd scare the crap out of me.

Bunnycat101 · 25/02/2025 02:29

I think there are two separate issues:

  1. body autonomy and being able to make choices that may be ‘alternative’

  2. the ethics of someone else doing the modifications especially if they are a Dr who has agreed to ‘do no harm’.

I think this is at the boundary where just because she wants something doesn’t mean it’s ethical for that something to be done to her. I can’t see how the nose can be justified tbh as that just seems like mutilation. However, I can also see the argument that other cosmetic procedures that could cause harm are deemed acceptable and I’d put the horns into that category unless there is evidence it’s a mega dangerous procedure.

ItGhoul · 25/02/2025 02:30

Just because Mumsnet’s pearl-clutchers think something is gross or ugly, that doesn’t make it a sign of mental illness.

The girl who did my most recent ear-piercing has body modifications at this kind of level. She’s perfectly sane, happy and healthy. She doesn’t go around calling people like you mentally ill for looking different to her, even if she can’t imagine ever wanting to look the way you do and would be miserable if she did.

Not every woman wants to look pretty. Why does that bother some people so much? Why the vitriol! She’s not hurting anyone.

Perhaps she does enjoy the attention, as some have suggested. But … so what? Millions of people enjoy attention. It’s not a crime.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 24/02/2025 20:29

I quite like the forehead horns.

Her body, her choice.
(And she looks far less weird than the ‘filler queens’.)

I'm not a fan of that look either - but you can't remotely compare the two.
A few lip fillers versus full face tattoo, part nose removal and horns are nowhere near the same thing.

Devon24 · 25/02/2025 02:57

It is subjective as to how people perceive her. The reactions around her will be extreme and I can’t imagine how that feels day in and day out, and only hope people treat her kindly and respectfully.

To me it looks like she is literally ‘wearing’ her pain and trauma, and I hope she is getting some support.

whynot2025 · 25/02/2025 02:59

Mental illness. What a mess she has made of herself. Poor soul.

daisychain01 · 25/02/2025 03:47

It's probably AI generated. I wouldn't get too worked up.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 24/02/2025 20:40

Yes.

I think fillers look far worse. Much worse.

And I like the horns…

But she clearly has a truckload of filler going on too, it's not an either/or situation.

I agree totally. Things like removing parts of the nose for aesthetic reasons shouldn’t be legal.

Can you though?

As another poster said earlier, could you go to Body modification place and have both your arms removed?? Just because you wanted to??

Trust me being overweight is not socially acceptable nor was it a choice I made to be overweight. (I have a metabolic disorder and medication to thank for that).

Only read the first page of posts, so apologies if anyone’s already said this…

It reminds me of the Black Alien Project on Instagram. Some people are just into extreme body modification.

So long as they are consenting adults I don’t see the problem.

It isn’t for everyone that’s for sure, but we don’t all have to be the same. As long as she’s happy, fair enough.

And what if she's not happy?? he might be able to have some of the tattoos laser or whatever, but she can't have her eyes back as they were her nose back as it was, I suppose some surgeon could give her a nose, a fake nose and then have that and then have tattooed to match the rest of her face if she's not having all the tattoos removed, but it's not exactly the same as letting fillers fade away or dying your hair is it?

ThisFluentBiscuit · 25/02/2025 06:47

The article says she had her nose removed. You're splitting hairs because the cartilage is most of your nose. That part protects all sort from getting into your head. I do not believe any surgeon would do that for cosmetic reasons, unless she went somewhere really backstreet and dodgy. I just googled it and it's not done in the UK or US for cosmetic reasons. I strongly suspect that that part of the photo is not real.

AltitudeCheck · 25/02/2025 07:46

@ThisFluentBiscuit I think it probably is real, as someone mentioned up thread her work was done by Oscar Marquez https://www.instagram.com/oscarmarquezbodymod?igsh=cjdvd3E1NXB3M3Rm
Not one to look at over breakfast!

Dogstar78 · 25/02/2025 08:07

Missing the point.....isn't your nose that shame for a reason??? She is going to get through a lot of tissues.

Are you sure this is not an AI picture?

Whoever did this should be struck off. Although, on those 'housewife' programmes some of their noses are not far off these.

It isn't AI. She is a real person. I saw a short interview with her on Threads.

MoonWoman69 · 25/02/2025 10:31

I find it insulting that someone referred to people having tattoos and piercings as being of low intelligence! And I've seen that judgemental comment before, on another thread, probably by the same person! 🙄

I have 3 piercings in each ear and I have 5 tattoos, which, unless you saw me in a boob tube, you'd never know. And that's because I wanted them and each one means something to me. I didn't just dash into a tattoo parlour and tell them to do what they wanted. Each one took a lot of thought and planning; one took a years consideration! And I had them done because I wanted them for me alone. You have to be happy with them for life and I am with each one of mine.
Not to be quirky, out there or whatever else. For me, personally, tattoos need to mean something. (And how totally blacking out parts of your body, ie breasts and arm is meaningful, I really don't know).
I don't understand how people wanting piercings or tattoos are of "low intelligence".
Talk about just saying something for the sake of it!
Fine, if someone wants to go to the extremes this woman has, that's her choice. But I find it disturbing and unpleasant to look at. She clearly doesn't and likes the attention, I really wouldn't. Good for her, not for me!

Is there a particular type of surgeon who does body modifications?

I don't think so.

Tattooists often do 'body modification'.

Why did you put body modification in inverted comma's?
