What tights would you assume are allowed with this uniform?

State primary school (my DD is in reception). Uniform policy makes no mention of the colour tights have to be.

Uniform is: black trousers/skirt, white polo top, royal blue jumper.

The uniform section of the local supermarket sells the following colours of tights: red, dark green, white, grey, navy blue, black.

Now I wouldn’t have chosen red or green, but frankly I think all the other colours would be passably smart in the absence of any indication in the uniform policy, but we’ve just been informed our daughter has been wearing the “wrong colour tights” for the last 4 months 🙄🙄 so now I’m wondering if I’m a total eejit for choosing the colour I chose, and if it’s totally obvious they wouldn’t allow it...

So, out of grey, white, black and navy blue, in the absence of any indication in the uniform policy which colour(s) would you assume were acceptable for a pupil at this school?

Tell them she's going to be wearing these tights until they rip or she grows out of them. Then you'll buy some in the colour they now specify.

Black or grey but if the jumper is blue, navy/royal blue would work too (my DC had red school Jumpers and red tights were allowed).

Not white but I'm not sure why especially if they are allowed white socks!

Never seen anyone in white tights at school. Totally impractical

I would have guessed black, grey, blue or white but I’m clearly going to be wrong. Are you in England? Because if you are that’s not legally enforceable.

‘Sorry I bought the wrong colour- please update the uniform policy / list on website as no colour was specified - hence my error. As they wear out I will replace with black . Many thanks’

Well this is just another reason to despise the ridiculous obsession of UK schools with uniform

I’d say black, white, royal blue (if available) or grey would all be fine? TBH I’ve never thought that hard about children’s tights!

At DS’s school I’ve seen navy or grey mostly (navy jumper, grey trousers/skirt) but I’m sure white would be fine. DS wears shorts with long navy/grey/white socks (ASD, doesn’t do trousers) but on occasion he’s had green/red/royal blue and no one’s batted an eyelid.

If they had bear legs, I reckon the fur would keep them warm.

Grey is not among the colours in the uniform and white will look awful after a while.
