I cannot stand when property listings have TVs on (doesn't take 5 seconds to switch it off) and washing drying anywhere - outside or inside. The owners or renters knew in advance when the EA photographer is coming, so do your washing AFTER they go.

Neither! Imagine paying £1.6m for a house that is that packed in and close to your neighbours and a tiny garden.

No thanks!

This. Neither, even if £600k cheaper. Really dislike them both.

V personal, house choice, isn't it.

EdithStourton · 17/02/2025 14:22

No 1 is horrible.
No 2 is much nicer.

LongDarkTeatime · 17/02/2025 14:23

Number 2 as has more character and probably higher ceilings

Both not dog friendly. Number 1 has all v slippy floors and v pale carpets. Our hounds would wreck it.

Titasaducksarse · 17/02/2025 14:25

Number 2 but only as I have a beef with the developers of number 1!

Tabitha005 · 17/02/2025 14:25

No.1 is absolutely everything I loathe about modern homes. Anyone could live there - there's no hint to the character or personalities of the people who own it.

I know this is what you're supposed to do when selling a house, but I still hate it - and I'm not such a massive dunce that I can't visualise how a home would look were it mine just because there's some originality of the current owners in evidence.

user2155340308842 · 17/02/2025 14:26

Number 2, hands down. But I'd put a kitchen/diner where the dining room is and reconfigure the current kitchen to a utility/pantry and loo. I'd also turn one of the bedrooms upstairs into another bathroom.

My overall thought is you get a lot for your money in LS compared to London!

Allthegoodhorses · 17/02/2025 14:28

I couldn't cope with either of them. Spending all that money to be cheek by jowl with your neighbours in a tiny garden (house 1) or on a road with loads of traffic rumbling past (house 2).

Sinkintotheswamp · 17/02/2025 14:28

Number 2 is nicer. It needs another shower room though. And not quite sure about parking.

Number 1 is clinical and cheap looking.

Debtfreegoals · 17/02/2025 14:30

Number 2. I think character properties increase in value more than modern properties. Although I’m not keen on the log burner installed in front of the cast iron insert

Auburngal · 17/02/2025 14:30

MikeRafone · 17/02/2025 14:07

There is a carport and garage - how much parking do you need?

I do wish a family that operate a man n van business down my road moved to a property with a large driveway. They only got 2 bays (one in front of the other) and the other van has to park somewhere else. There were properties around the town where I live when they moved in of a similar sized property and price but could park both vans and their car on the driveway or on the road without annoying the fellow residents.

CraftyNavySeal · 17/02/2025 14:30

Number 2 but only if I’m also rich enough for the heating bill.

1 could be ok if you ripped out the B&Q kitchen

Sunglow1921 · 17/02/2025 14:30

MikeRafone · 17/02/2025 13:39

is the road mainly flats?

I don't think so - mostly large homes but it is a major A road so a lot of traffic past the front door

the first one is tucked away off an major road routes

Definitely number 1 then. If I’m paying that much I don’t want to share a bathroom and hear cars driving past at all hours.

But the thing that would annoy me the most is the loo in the corner of the dining room. Why do people do this? Surely if you had guests over for dinner you wouldn’t direct them to use that. Who wants to hear/smell that while having a meal? 🤢

Another pet peeve of mine is carpet in the entrance hall. Easily fixed perhaps, but, again, why? It just shows that they tried to do something cheap so makes me question the quality of the rest of the renovations. (Our house had a carpeted entrance and that was not the only shortcut the previous owner took when renovating).

The first house may be a bit of a ‘soulless box’, but you get a lot of space for your money and it’s easy to put your stamp on it.

Allthegoodhorses · 17/02/2025 14:31

I would go for this instead:

TheDandyLion · 17/02/2025 14:34

Number 2 - needs some more colour but it's got a bit of life in it and that wysteria would be beautiful in spring.

The first one looks like Homebase catalogue.

MikeRafone · 17/02/2025 14:34

Allthegoodhorses · 17/02/2025 14:31

All the fields surrounding that property is ear marked for a large housing estate with both council, HA and new build

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 17/02/2025 14:34

Easy- number 2. I was swooning over every room.

Number one was just so dull and the location looks rubbish (although I'd didnt research).

Yes, I guess some online research would need to be done before going to view. I just did a quick search

luckylavender · 17/02/2025 14:43

I'm not wild about either. No 1 needs a bit of a character infusion. But I wouldn't want to pay that much money & be so close neighbours so not no 2x

Trolleysaregoodforemployment · 17/02/2025 14:44

godmum56 · 17/02/2025 14:16

Lovely until I realised it was Somerset? You couldn't pay me to live there unfortunately.

Christmas202 · 17/02/2025 14:46

Number 2 is a million miles the nicer choice. Why people choose to make houses squeaky pristine and modern I will never know. I love the character of property 2

looking at your choice, I'm wondering if that is the farm house and they are selling the land for the housing estate and moving out altogether?

OP posts:
DaisyDukesAuntie · 17/02/2025 14:47

I love number 2, but for that kind of money, I'd want a detached house in 3 acres! I live in Yorkshire and £1.5m would buy you that in many many different locations 😀

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 17/02/2025 14:47

I don't like either...

Chuchoter · 17/02/2025 14:49

Is that a public playing field behind house number one?

Or a school playing field?

That would be a massive no from me.
