Reasonable length of time to clean bathroom?

bathromwoes · 16/02/2025 08:32

Please help me asses whether IABU.

How long would you say is reasonable to do a "deep clean" of a family bathroom?

It's a small room; toilet, sink, shower over bath. Tiled floor. Panel sheets around bath/shower.

It's becoming an increasing issue between DH and I, although I accept symptomatic of bigger things!

Thanks!

15 mins.

Bananaramad · 16/02/2025 08:35

15 / 20 mins max.

LoveBluey · 16/02/2025 08:35

30 mins

LuckysDadsHat · 16/02/2025 08:36

For me that would be about an hour. To scrub the tiles, wash the floor, clean shelving and glass shower screens etc.....

biscuitsandbooks · 16/02/2025 08:38

Half an hour at the absolute most.

TheGoogleMum · 16/02/2025 08:39

How bad is the bathroom?

Wolfpa · 16/02/2025 08:40

Depends on what state your bathroom is in

Pottedpalm · 16/02/2025 08:42

15 mins for routine clean, half an hour to Forty mins if deep cleaning

I need to clean my bathroom today, Im wondering now if I'm doing it wrong, I was thinking about 15 minutes for what sounds a similar room

GoldMoon · 16/02/2025 08:44

30 mins - 1 hour.
I start at upper levels that can attract dust , wipe cabinet top , wipe shower cubicle top , wipe shower head , wipe upper tiles .
Move to middle level wipe shelves , clean window, clean tiles.
Lower level Tiles , basin , toilet , bath shower cubicle Inc floor , .
Finally clean floor. Clean out bathroom bin , polish up ( freestanding toilet paper holder , wipe down radiator , wipe down door.
That's my deep clean .

Ickity · 16/02/2025 08:44

I’d say 20-30 minutes if you’re cleaning everything thoroughly, polishing after etc.

You could possibly make it an hour by doing grout and getting into tiny crevices, hair out of plug holes etc.

InTheRainOnATrain · 16/02/2025 08:44

20 minutes assuming you do it weekly. If you’re trying to scrub off weeks of built up soap scum and limescale it’ll take longer.

Not bad. It's done regularly enough. You wouldn't "know" it is due a clean if you were to look at it, IYSWIM

I'm impressed at all the 15-20 min comments! For me, to deep-clean our reasonably small bathroom usually takes a good hour at least.

Cleaning the toilet; wiping the mirror, window, tops of shelves and cabinets; bleaching and scrubbing bath, sink and taps; scrubbing the tiles around the bath; taking the shower curtain down to be washed; cleaning the floor and skirting boards... 20 minutes definitely wouldn't cut it!

shuffleofftobuffalo · 16/02/2025 08:46

10-15 mins to keep it routine clean and 40 mins - hour for a deep clean.

How long do you and DH think?

FlameOfFlowers · 16/02/2025 08:47

Less time if you spray products on and give them time to actually work. I used to be a cleaner in a hotel, we would spray the bathroom with products and then sort out some of the bedroom before going back to the bathroom.

I would say 30 minutes absolute maximum, more likely to be 15-20 minutes. We use one of those poles with a cleaning sponge head for the tiling over the bath, I say we, Ds does it as it is his bathroom.

JaneBoleynViscountessRochford · 16/02/2025 08:47

How deep a clean does it need? We have three bathrooms, we do a quick wipe of the taps and toilet every day, takes two mins tops, make sure and tidy things away etc.

Once a week I do a bigger clean but still takes me ten mins tops each room, thirty mins all. Spray cleaner everywhere, wipe down, bleach down toilet, scrub bath/shower tray and then use the flash mop on the floor.

Sometimes I steam clean, just steam everywhere then wipe, that really leaves them sparkling but again is very quick. I’m very particular about our bathrooms.

RollerSkateLikePeggy · 16/02/2025 08:48

For a deep clean I'd take about 30 minutes. I'm probably quite slow though. We also have skirting boards with a profile that means I have to take far too long cleaning just those with an old toothbrush!

ThatAgileGoldMoose · 16/02/2025 08:50

Yeah I'm not going to be able to do more than a quick wipe clean in 15 minutes. We have hard water for a start, and to get limescale off taps/ sink/ bath is going to take leaving product on to soak while I do other things qnd then giving them a good scrub.

I'd guess around 45 minutes for mine.

Meadowfinch · 16/02/2025 08:50

20 mins to ...
hoover
wash floor
clean loo
clean bath,
delimescale shower, taps and shower screen
clean basin
spray tiles with white vinegar and wipe down
dust shelves and window sill
clean mirror and window

TwoShades1 · 16/02/2025 08:50

I clean mine weekly and takes about 15 mins. For a deep clean I would do the normal clean but also things like taking everything off cupboards/shelves to wipe them down and possibly cleaning floor tile grout and wiping down walls. So a good 45 mins.

serendipity70 · 16/02/2025 08:52

Wow a deep clean takes 10-15 minutes I'm genuinely trying to figure out how to do mine quicker as mine takes around 90 minutes!

Genuine question, what is bleaching and scrubbing the bath?
Scrubbing the tiles?

What goes on in your bathroom 😁

Vanillalime · 16/02/2025 08:53

The last time I deep cleaned my bathroom it took me well over an hour, probably closer to 90mins to 2 hours. But that was cleaning everything properly, not just wiping things down. The shower hose took about 20mins on its own 🤣 and I wiped round the neck of all the shampoo bottles, cleaned each tile individually & every line of grout etc

if I just wanted to give it a quick wipe down then 10mins maybe?

alwaysdeleteyourcookies · 16/02/2025 08:53

30 minutes.
