I am Not "Woo" at all but this just happened

so I'm in no way, shape or form "woo" buuutttt just been sitting on side of my bed texting on my phone and my soundbar for TV (which I've had for 4 years with no issues) just decided to launch itself onto the floor, has hit my foot and cut it, picked it back up thinking how weird 🤷🤷 went back to my phone and a bottle of water, tube of face cream and a lip balm on top of my chest of drawers then launched themselves across the room, pretty freaked out by this point but still being rational in my head, picked phone back up carried on messaging back a friend, looked up to think what I was trying to type and felt a big tap /slap and literally saw my phone fly in the air and land other side of room, trying hard to think rationally but feeling pretty spooked right now
😭there's a rational reason for all this, yes???

How is it not?

Because you wouldn't dare to say you're anti Muslim.

LoganberryWay · 10/02/2025 07:52

A talk by an RC Exorcist.

16.24 explains the types of demonic activity.

PearlClutzsche · 10/02/2025 07:55

Edited to add: I meant to quote the post that said "because you wouldn't dare criticise Islam"

Would I not? I'm an equal opportunities religion scorner.
I regard all religion as silly, pointless and manufactured as the gods of ancient Greece. People will believe in totally different "gods" in a few centuries' time. Countless people will die in their name, too.

On a lighter note, I love that there's a Wikihow on how to get rid of ghosts!

Newfoundzestforlife · 10/02/2025 07:59

I find it confusing how you say these things happened in front of your very eyes yet you still don't believe in ghosts 🤔

Because you wouldn't dare to say you're anti Muslim.

What is wrong with saying you’re anti any religion?

I believe a lot of harm is done in the name of religion, and this isn’t unique to Catholicism or Christianity in general

My money's on seismic/subsidence activity and the brain trying to make sense of it.

For those who've felt weight on the bed, look up sleep paralysis and hypnogogic/hypnopompic hallucinations.

I know I've had a few things where I can't tell if I really heard them or my brain conjured them up when half asleep - I do get very vivid dreams, and sometimes when I'm semi-conscious, rifting off or waking, I just haven't known what caused a half-remembered sound.

jellyfishperiwinkle · 10/02/2025 08:29

What I notice with ghost stories and potentially supernatural stuff, is that on almost every occasion the person in question is going through some kind of stressful change in life even when they are feeling no obvious stress symptoms day to day.

There is often a bereavement or someone is very ill, they have just moved in somewhere, they have started university, there has been a marriage break-up, there is a teenager going through adolescence, or they are having problems in their job or career.

I guess a believer would say there are spirits trying to help or show you something in a difficult situation. A sceptic (and I fall on that side of the fence in spite of what I've seen myself) would say it is all coming from our own minds.

Like OP said, there are a multitude of possible causes/explanations that are infinitely more plausible than "ghosts", because ghosts do not exist.

HowamImiddleaged · 10/02/2025 08:41

I'm atheist too but I do believe in spirits and their energy remaining.

I lost my DB two years ago and I am struggling with it. One day I turned around to the kitchen worktop and there was a large white shadow/light there, then it disappeared. I thought it was salt or flour that was falling down but nothing. It wasn't the sun either. I honestly believe it was something. Nothing before or since.

I do believe in ghosts but not that they are spirits of the dead. I believe they are dreamt, imagined or hallucinated.

15 years, nope nothing at all before this, the elderly lady died here before we bought house, was told it was haunted, but I don't belive in all that!! 🤔

You didn’t ?

anyolddinosaur · 10/02/2025 09:02

"A total of 28 earthquakes have been recorded across the country since the beginning of 2025, all of which have been strong enough to be detected by the British Geological Society and measured on the Richter scale."

Maybe ask the BGS?

I keep having similar things happen and I’m not woo at all either.

I live in a very very old house and when my DP moved in he kept mentioning things suddenly falling over or falling off things that had never moved before. I kept telling him it was a load of nonsense and that he just believed the people who said the house must be haunted as it’s so old and he was now looking for signs.

We were sitting watching tv the other night and the remote control was on the bedside table right in the middle, the remote suddenly moved like it was being pushed and fell on the floor quite a distance from the table.

There have been a few things like this happen but more annoyingly things also go missing. I once fell asleep with my AirPods in, I had an audio book on timer and fell asleep in the first 5 minutes, I woke up when it went off only 30 minutes later and DP was still awake reading and swore I had hardly moved. One AirPod was missing and we tore the house apart looking for it but never found it. I was convinced DP had moved it at first but he helped look for it for days and would have preferred to fess up if it was a joke rather then spend that much time searching.

I took my ring off to wash up and it was never seen again, there have also been many other things but they were the weirdest as they disappeared so quickly never to be seen again.

We live in a very remote area, the house is surrounded by woodland and you have to go down an unlit country road to get to it. I was once walking home (which I hate and try to avoid) and was using my phone as a torch, it was so dark despite the torch and I was walking fast to get home quickly.

I was nearly home when I heard a rustling noise behind me and swung round.
There was a figure behind me that looked like it was all in black, all I saw was a pair of eyes in a pale white face, it was almost just eyes in the dark that locked with mine.
I was absolutely terrified and turned to see if anything was in front of me or to see if any cars were coming, I looked back a split second later and the figure had gone.

I ran all the way home and collapsed in the house panting and in shock, I don’t think DP would have believed me if I hadn’t been in such a state.

I try to avoid walking home now but I’m still trying to find an explanation. I’m like OP, despite seeing these things with my own eyes I’m not convinced they are supernatural.

You will probably never get an answer OP, my only conclusion from these events is unexplained things happen and there is probably a logical reason behind it or maybe we are just skeptics and are being targeted by sort of spirit or ghost (what’s the difference?) but refuse to believe it.

I almost drove myself mad trying to think of what caused it (and I did get a carbon monoxide alarm) but now I just accept it. If it is a ghost I wish it would piss off, it’s often valuable things that go missing and it’s very irritating!

This has reminded me of the thread about the missing clock chains - did they ever return, does anyone know?

Imbusytodaysorry · 10/02/2025 09:05

OhMyGollyGoshGosh · 09/02/2025 20:43

  1. Your soundbar launched itself onto the floor.
  2. A bottle of water, a tube of face cream and a lip balm launched themselves across the room.
  3. Your phone then 'literally flew in the air' and landed on the other side of the room.
  4. You felt a 'big tap/slap'.

I'd be looking at your local news and Facebook groups to see if anyone else had a similar experience with a vibration this huge.

If not, I think I'd book an appointment with my GP.

Edited

Pretty patronising.

The OP commented on another "woo" thread fairly recently to say that no, they didn't turn up. Weird eh?!

Tacsi · 10/02/2025 06:54

not really as there will be (somewhere) a logical explanation.

Nah - poltergeist! Run!

CarrieMoonbeams · 10/02/2025 09:26

@HowamImiddleaged , sorry about the loss of your DB.

I'm interested in how you describe what you saw though. I've mentioned on previous woo threads that I once saw something that I described as sort of twinkling/sparkling tiny lights, about the height of a person. I'd also lost a family member and this was the culmination of quite a number of strange things that had happened. I was really scared! (My dogs didn't react at all though.)

When I told my brother about it, he thought it was funny because I'm well known for my love of Christmas, so he said it was appropriate for me to have a ghost made out of fairy lights!

Your description of falling salt or flour kind of made me think about the sparkly lights that I saw, it could be similar.

So weird, I find myself mulling over the missing chains every now and again.

Hulahooplaa · 10/02/2025 09:35

I think it happens. Once I was sitting in my room and a can of deodorant or something just started rocking like someone has pushed it with a bit of force. I just say watching it like ok thats weird. Complete one off weird moment. Also had a TV turn on by itself once or twice when I was in bed. It was a family members tv who had passed away.

It was like a shimmering puff of flour, about 3ft, it was moving slightly and then it disappeared.

I believe in energy never dying and so I believe the spirits and souls of those who have died remain. Not in our realm but in another one but at times they try and come through.

It really stopped me in my tracks. I've never experienced anything like it.

Thank you for your condolences, it's his birthday this week which I know I'm going to struggle with.

http://earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk/earthquakes/recent_uk_events.html

No recordings of anything since last Wednesday. We have featured on here for micro activity. Local blasting for lithium - I think it measured less than 1 and I had thought it was someone loudly slamming a garage door. Nothing fell/flew off anywhere.

Don't know what you experienced, but have had many weird experiences in my life. I'm usually freaked out for about 5 mins then shrug them off. I have never felt the need to go to the GP about it and yes we have a CD monitor. Do I think it's woo? Sometimes when I miss loved ones I like to think it is, but then I think "there is probably a non woo explanation".

Not at all.

The Catholic Church will not entertain the idea of demonic activity until a full Mental Health screening is done.

Because you wouldn't dare to say you're anti Muslim.

if I'd experienced the same levels of abuse by an Islamic sect as many, many Catholics have by their church I would. Just in our extended family we've had SA, baby sold to Americans, beatings at school etc. I despise the Catholic Church and the damage it does on both a personal and global scale.

EdithBond · 10/02/2025 09:48

The only logical explanation is some sort of strong vibration, burst of air or magnetic phenomenon.

Given your location, possible explanations I can think of:

  • Earth tremor, including from active mining blast, disused mining subsidence (including ancient mines)
  • Blast of air, including from super fast/stealth planes, natural gases or possible collision of different types of air (coastal/mountain air), sudden gust of wind (down a chimney in your room?)
  • Something to do with magnetic fields, including someone you live (teenage kids) has rigged up an elaborate prank with super magnets

Most explanations are likely to have affected other objects in your home, rather than solely items around your bed/in your hand.

Or you’re hallucinating without realising or having us on.
