so I'm in no way, shape or form "woo" buuutttt just been sitting on side of my bed texting on my phone and my soundbar for TV (which I've had for 4 years with no issues) just decided to launch itself onto the floor, has hit my foot and cut it, picked it back up thinking how weird 🤷🤷 went back to my phone and a bottle of water, tube of face cream and a lip balm on top of my chest of drawers then launched themselves across the room, pretty freaked out by this point but still being rational in my head, picked phone back up carried on messaging back a friend, looked up to think what I was trying to type and felt a big tap /slap and literally saw my phone fly in the air and land other side of room, trying hard to think rationally but feeling pretty spooked right now
😭there's a rational reason for all this, yes???

I'm atheist too but I do believe in spirits and their energy remaining.

I lost my DB two years ago and I am struggling with it. One day I turned around to the kitchen worktop and there was a large white shadow/light there, then it disappeared. I thought it was salt or flour that was falling down but nothing. It wasn't the sun either. I honestly believe it was something. Nothing before or since.

That sounds like some kind of temporary visual disturbance to me.

DollyTubb · 10/02/2025 09:50

Many many years ago my aunt used to belong to a group who investigated so-called 'paranormal' events such as this. 99% of the time there was a rational explanation for the occurrences, such as a house being above underground train lines, blasting from distant quarries, all manner of events which created vibrations or slight movements in the house that a 'normal' person wouldn't detect but which could manifest itself in slamming doors, furniture moving across the floor etc. Minor earth tremors can also do the same thing but not be felt by yourself. I'm guessing you were upstairs when these things happened so more likely to be amplified here rather than on the ground floor.

My mum has experienced a lot of strange things in her life. Shes an atheist and definitely wouldnt lie about it as she's as straight as an arrow

When my parents bought their first house in 1992, it was already around 80 years old. Dad was away for work a lot, so Mum was often alone with me and my brother, who were only two years and six months old at the time. At night, she would hear footsteps coming up the stairs and knew exactly which step was being stood on because they all creaked in a certain way.

One night, she left the landing light on for us and saw a shadow pass under her bedroom door. She immediately opened it, thinking one of us was up, but there was no one there. In my brothers room, she would pull the curtains open every morning, only to find them shut again in the afternoon.

She also smelled her mums perfume constantly, not just in that house but in every house shes lived in.

Back in lockdown, we both experienced something that absolutely terrified us. I wont go into it, but it completely changed the way I see things.

I'd love to hear what happened during lockdown brass!

Maybe you’re just really not meant to send that text message you were trying to write

BuntyFayreweather · 10/02/2025 10:00

Hello OP.
I bet if you live in a Welsh village you'll have a Mystic Meg (Im half Welsh). Perhaps you can talk to her.
Burning sage leaves is very cleansing. You can get the fresh at supermarkets.
If you're not scared I always say hello when I come home.
I live in a modern house now but I've had some creepy feckers as abodes.

if I'd experienced the same levels of abuse by an Islamic sect as many, many Catholics have by their church I would. Just in our extended family we've had SA, baby sold to Americans, beatings at school etc. I despise the Catholic Church and the damage it does on both a personal and global scale.

Now that's interesting, because whenever someone experiences something that they think is "supernatural", they are yelling for a Priest !

DevilledEgg · 10/02/2025 10:11

Is there a massive magnet pointing at your house

CarliLove35 · 10/02/2025 10:15

I’m also in North Wales and there are frequent tremors due to old quarries and mines. There’s no such thing as ghosts.

However, the previous owner of our house died here, and she was a very heavy smoker. When we first moved in, we frequently got a whiff of fresh cigarette smoke, like her spirit was still lingering. Or more likely, someone walked past the house, smoking and the smell wafted in through an open window.

justkeepswimmng · 10/02/2025 10:18

Something very similar happened to me OP, however it was in front of 3 other woman.

3 of the woman saw the can of juice lift up slightly ( i didn't see this) and then a few mind later we then all watched ( in sheer fucking horror i may add) a can twist and turn and drag over to the other side of the table, it wasn't a split second moment, it lasted about 5 seconds of us watching in silence.

Anyways there was no explanation, thankfully it wasnt in my house and i noped the fuck out of there immediately.

That isn't as daft as it sounds.

Having a pylon in your garden isn't very healthy and neither is being close to a substation. Some experts recommend being 300+ feet away from one.

This has reminded me of the thread about the missing clock chains - did they ever return, does anyone know?

Oh that was me!

No they haven’t appeared (yet).

ThePoshUns · 10/02/2025 10:27

Gosh the chains. That was so weird.

Yeah, priests deal in supernatural, fabricated, mystical nonsense for the gullible, what a surprise.

TheWombatleague · 10/02/2025 11:31

Of course, it may be one of the many thousands of ghosts that, despite being able to physically manipulate objects, decides to throw things to get its message across, rather than typing on your phone or keyboard.

Go on then, convince me that priests have mystical powers. One of my close friends is an ex Catholic Priest btw, so you'll have to find some compelling evidence to convince me he's actually a wizard.

ThreeLocusts · 10/02/2025 12:44

OP sorry about what the Catholic church did to you. And about the pointless troll hunting on this thread.

I had a very sharp, rational and quite anti-religious friend - I still miss her almost daily, four years after her death - who nevertheless had a couple of memories of things she couldn't explain. One involved seeing a ghostly apparition of her father, where it later turned out that at that precise time her father had been in mortal danger and thinking of his family.

F*ck knows how these things happen - and in the case of flying objects, a tremor (whether due to earthquake, subsidence or what) seems a likely explanation even if you can't get firm proof.

I wouldn't want a priest pattering about my home either. But I have improvised rituals in the past when I needed to put my mind at rest about something. Burn something that smells good, stare into a candle flame. Recite a good poem.

And keep your sense of humour...

It's not my job to convince you (or anyone else) of anything, except to say that Catholic Priests do not consider themselves to be 'wizards'.

Any power they have comes from God, they are just a conduit.

All of them? Or just the ones that pay to do the week long course at the Vatican in "Exorcism and the Prayer of Liberation" ?

"the priest must wear a type of embroidered white tunic called a surplice alongside a purple stole. The person who is possessed may be bound, and holy water should be used. The priest will make the sign of the cross on the person at several times throughout"

Exorcism and its use by a variety of religious practitioners to carry out abuse of children and other vulnerable people would suggest that a Catholic priest should be the last person you'd want to call.

Yes - I lost a nice pair of work shoes. Things disappear around here quite often! Sometimes they reappear, other times they don't.

I've only had something actually thrown at me once and that was enough! Normally everybody just sighs and gets on with it but the mysterious blood stains a few weeks ago do make me wonder if things are about to escalate!

Every organization, especially big ones like the church always have bad events . that happen. That's what comes with the territory of it being run by people.
I don't exactly blame people for thinking the church is evil given how the abuses have happened and has been covered up, or given all the people who have had first hand experience in it.
If I were them I'd have no reason to believe the church stood for anything good if that was my only exposure to it. In a strange way I would be right there with them if I never got to see the light that is present in the church.
This is why I am extremely careful about engaging in discussion about the Catholic Church with anyone who brings up sexual abuse, because I don't think they're really interested in having a conversation.
They are only interested in validating their own opinion, one way or another. Or spitting vitriol.
Or proving a point.
It is difficult to discuss the morality of an enormous organization.
People want to look at it as some kind of monolithic entity, but of course it's not.
For many people, they don't understand how an organization can be good and yet individuals in that organization do terrible things.

Get out of your house now and call an exorcist 😂
