I am Not "Woo" at all but this just happened

so I'm in no way, shape or form "woo" buuutttt just been sitting on side of my bed texting on my phone and my soundbar for TV (which I've had for 4 years with no issues) just decided to launch itself onto the floor, has hit my foot and cut it, picked it back up thinking how weird 🤷🤷 went back to my phone and a bottle of water, tube of face cream and a lip balm on top of my chest of drawers then launched themselves across the room, pretty freaked out by this point but still being rational in my head, picked phone back up carried on messaging back a friend, looked up to think what I was trying to type and felt a big tap /slap and literally saw my phone fly in the air and land other side of room, trying hard to think rationally but feeling pretty spooked right now
😭there's a rational reason for all this, yes???

I'm pretty sure the earthquake in North Wales is an old story, not recent.

He heard his bedroom door open, and felt a weight as if someone had sat down on the foot end of the bed

Ive had the same , I think it's sleep paralysis.

He says he was awake...BUT sleep paralysis is very horrible, and it feels so real. Maybe he did ''dream'' it.

I haven't had it years, but it's frightening when it happens.

coxesorangepippin · 10/02/2025 01:48

There was a figure behind me that looked like it was all in black, all I saw was a pair of eyes in a pale white face, it was almost just eyes in the dark that locked with mine

^

This would be enough to make me move

Feck rural!

m00ngirl · 10/02/2025 01:54

It is was genuine woo, (don't want to shit you up but) it will happen again @Tacsi ... please have your phone to hand and try to film it if it does! That might help people to give possible explanations, whether sceptic or woo, and put the hallucination stuff to bed

TinnyTones · 10/02/2025 02:15

Have you checked your carbon monoxide alarm lately?

Tourmalines · 10/02/2025 02:34

Plggybacker · 09/02/2025 21:18

Possible explanations (in approximate order of likelihood)...

  1. OP is making it up for entertainment purposes.
  2. OP is having a mental health episode.
  3. OP is hallucinating due to a medical condition.
  4. OP is suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.
  5. There's a scientific explanation nobody has thought of yet.
  6. It's something paranormal.

Yet so many people jump straight to 6 and start shouting for sage and priests.

I’d pick from one to five and definitely leave out number six .

oakleaffy · 10/02/2025 02:35

There is a what I believe is real haunting on this you tube film..it kicks in at around 7 minutes.

Haunted Bothy, Scotland.

He's camping on his own....

Offwegotomarket · 10/02/2025 02:40

I watched the Entity on film4 last night so this thread is scaring the shit out of me..🫣

ColourBlueColourPurple · 10/02/2025 02:58

Fuck that. I'd be out of there. Aren't you scared??

I'm an atheist, sooooo😕😕

The ghost isn’t

AngelicKaty · 10/02/2025 03:40

@Tacsi You've said you saw these three separate movements of items with your own eyes so why can't you accept that the rational explanation is that you've had a paranormal experience? My husband's had three in his adult life and he's the most sane, calm, rational person I know. He's also not been afraid of them as they showed no malevolence towards him (and actually nor did yours, although it does seem they were trying to get your attention for some reason). I think it's interesting you say your dog barks at everything - as a PP wrote, they may well sense their presence. I wouldn't be rushing for a priest either (I'm also an atheist) but I would be keeping an open mind in the hope they made a reappearance. Don't be freaked out OP, it may never happen again (but if you're lucky, it might). 👻😃

I agree. This is far more likely (and far more deadly) than a ghost. I'd also have a good look at your house support system. Foundation problems, sagging or cracked beams, dry rot, water damage, wormwood infestation can all compromise the structural integrity of your house and cause uneven floors, walls and ceilings and, eventually, collapse. As can removing or cutting through a load bearing wall without adding appropriate support. When I bought my house, I had to have the ceiling jacked up and repaired, as the previous owner had cut a wide arch through a supporting wall without installing a proper header that could handle the weight and the ceiling had started to sag.

PyongyangKipperbang · 10/02/2025 04:11

I have never been woo but in the 26 years in this house me and the kids have all experienced things. We had all been experiencing them, it turned out, and didnt say anything to each other in case all the others thought we were crazy.

Nothing scary but, but not rationally explainable. So we started talking to them, (we are sure there is more than one, when DC3 was about 3 she mentioned "the others" quite often), saying hi when we got home, asking for their help for finding lost things and saying thank you when we found them. All has been peaceful. Sometimes things still happen, but it seems more playful than malicious.

It's brilliant that you started talking to them - so would I. I mean, why not? You might just learn something about them.

itsgettingweird · 10/02/2025 04:33

I've told this story here before but I did have similar once. Probable about 10 years ago.

Sat in lounge with ds and the single plastic (few inches in size) clipboard he'd got from a party bag suddenly flew off kitchen side and we only know because we heard it hit kitchen floor and saw it there from lounge - neither of us was near it.

Following day the hairbrush is not been able to find for a few days was in the middle of the hallway when I walked down it. Again we'd both been in lounge at the time it appeared.

No weird shit happened before or since. We've lived here 17 years.

It was freaky at the time but it's just faded into something I share on MN every now and then!

CobraChicken · 10/02/2025 04:37

Are you located inside the area indicated on this map? If so it's probably historic coal mining related subsidence.

CobraChicken · 10/02/2025 04:38

That previous post ^ had an image attached, but I guess MN need to check all uploaded pics before displaying them, now.

They muck about but its actually quite nice. We think of them more like Julian and Robin in Ghosts than anything in Poltergeist!

What if it's the ghost of an atheist?

It's always been a source of mirth for me that believers insist ghosts and so on are not bound by the laws of the universe, but are somehow subject to whatever nonsense man-made religions which are usually no more than a few hundred years old have come up with in order to deal with them.

I mean, as an atheist myself, I don't think I'm going to be particularly bothered if I'm in the middle of haunting somebody and they call in a Catholic priest. No doubt I'd just be tagged as some sort of exorcism-resistant "demonic" presence or some other absolute rubbish.

whathaveiforgotten · 10/02/2025 06:04

@Feelingathomenow

What carbon monoxide can cause things to fly off shelves lol / who knew?

No but carbon monoxide poisoning can cause confusion and hallucinations.

Ah so you’re saying the sound bar, lip balm and phone didn’t move?

If it's been quiet for 15 years could the haunting be trying to alert your attention to something important maybe?

Have you left your hair straighteners on?

Or it could be a significant date…

not really as there will be (somewhere) a logical explanation.
