To let dog poo in the street

AIBU to allow my dog to poo in the street?

We live near a field and DH usually takes our dog over there. He's going away for a few days so I will solely be walking the dog. My problem is I get very very anxious in the dark, can't see properly even with the torch and it really stresses me out. Like heart/head pounding. Previously I have walked the dog around the estate we live on and he poos on the pavement. Some houses have no front garden and I always feel very guilty as it's so close to their homes. I ALWAYS pick up but you know sometimes it's not perfect. I'm aware of lots of doorbell cameras to. My dog refuses to poo in our garden. So AIBU to allow my dog to poo in the street allowing me relax a little that I'm not offending anyone or do I need to wait until it's light. He is used to very early and late walks.

I pick up after my dog as all responsible owners do. And if it was not a clean poo, which sometimes happens, I will swill it down with a small bottle of water that I also take on walks.

Incidentally H has bowel cancer and he once needed to go whilst on a dog walk in the woods. Middle of nowhere and he had a big dump behind a tree - no one around. We just were grateful we had the doggy bags to pick it up. Job done!
