To let dog poo in the street

AIBU to allow my dog to poo in the street?

We live near a field and DH usually takes our dog over there. He's going away for a few days so I will solely be walking the dog. My problem is I get very very anxious in the dark, can't see properly even with the torch and it really stresses me out. Like heart/head pounding. Previously I have walked the dog around the estate we live on and he poos on the pavement. Some houses have no front garden and I always feel very guilty as it's so close to their homes. I ALWAYS pick up but you know sometimes it's not perfect. I'm aware of lots of doorbell cameras to. My dog refuses to poo in our garden. So AIBU to allow my dog to poo in the street allowing me relax a little that I'm not offending anyone or do I need to wait until it's light. He is used to very early and late walks.

But you'll walk through the bits not picked up, and straight into your house.

But how will you know that? If there are no visible signs?

DiscoBaIIs · 10/02/2025 11:59

It might become illegal. Like I said, many things were once considered acceptable, and now are not, and have been made illegal. Our laws are regularly being updated. It is disgusting to have dogs shit on the pavement, and I am far from the only one who thinks so. I think it's a bigger issue than it ever has been, and there is much pushback on dogs these days.

Common sense. If you really don't think any bits are left behind, do you think it's ok for someone to let their dog shit on your floor, pick it up, and then not sanitise the area with some sort of cleaning product? It's obvious that there will be poo particles left behind. On the pavement, they will get picked up on shoes, walked into houses/schools, and spread around. Some particles bigger than others.

Things that MN wants to be illegal in the last 3 days

  • Eating meat
  • Adultery
  • Dogs existing
What a time to be alive.
Newbie8918 · 10/02/2025 12:04

@DiscoBaIIs wrong again. Dog ownership has never been easier 🤣 I've never had so many dog friendly bars, cafes etc to choose from. She comes with me to places that she's allowed. My workplace is dog friendly. She can come to the office with me.

This has only happened in the last few years. People have never been so accommodating! How unfortunate for you, given that your 'anti pet' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Newbie8918 · 10/02/2025 12:06

@vodkaredbullgirl @FastFood it amazes me how batshit people are. Where do these people hide in the real world? 🤣

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 10/02/2025 13:43

@Newbie8918

All dog faeces leaves smears! Fact.

Would you think it ok for a dog to shit on a plate, smear it about with a plastic bag, and then eat from the plate?

No?

Because there are germs/parasites/shit left behind.

These traces from pavements become attached to shoes (fact) and then walked to wherever the destination is.

And to those that think it's 'clean' to just pick up turds in bags - would you really think it's acceptable for shit to be placed on your doorstep/directly in front of your house door and be smeared about with a plastic bag? Wouldn't you be concerned that it would be walked into your property?

Anyone remotely thinking that every single dog turd they pick up leaves absolutely nothing behind is lying.

Nobody has suggested dogs shouldn't exist.

Newbie8918 · 10/02/2025 14:25

@MyOtherCarIsAPorsche my dogs diet is such that she very rarely leave smears 'fact'.

In the event where she's even slightly off, I carry a water bottle so I can rinse.

And I don't know about you but I don't eat my dinner off the pavement, nor the bottom of my shoes.

Do you often use the pavement to eat from?

And what about fox poo particles?

I've been observing my dog's poos today and no they're very much solid, no smear.

But smear or not, I must say that I wouldn't consider the pavement an appropriate place to eat food off. Maybe you should stop doing that.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 10/02/2025 15:59

@FastFood
Another role model here whose dog craps solid silver turds.

I'm so pleased that your animal has antibiotic shit.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 10/02/2025 16:06

@Justalittlehandhold
Just making the point that dog shit is utter filth.

If you wouldn't tolerate it on your plate why on earth would you leave deposit it on the floor for other people to step in?

Nothing more disgusting ....

FastFood · 10/02/2025 16:10

Can I drive my car on your plate then?
Since apparently only dog shit is dirty outside.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 10/02/2025 16:10

@Newbie8918

Yet another very misguided person who thinks their animal has antiseptic properties - bet it never licks its nether regions either Confused

Another lazy dog owner who can't be bothered to train an animal.

vodkaredbullgirl · 10/02/2025 16:11

ODFOD

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 10/02/2025 16:12
