Dryrobe W****r

Am I being unreasonable that I’ve discovered there is a Facebook page taking non consenting photos of lone women and children in dryrobes and mocking them. Or am I a snowflake? I wear one. Whilst I know they aren’t a stylish choice. It’s the most practical thing I’ve owned in years. I would be furious if someone took a photo of me and uploaded it

A lot of the comments are really pretty horrible on the posts. It's weird a choice of clothing upsets them that much. I have one for Cold water swimming but if it was chucking it down on the school run I would wear it and be very pleased I was dry and warm.

outerspacepotato · 07/02/2025 19:46

It's Facebook pffffft.

They look like a cross between an Oodie and a raincoat and comfy as can be with great big pockets.

CantStopBuyingSeeds · 07/02/2025 19:48

@YouDeserveBetterSoAskForIt And if we so much as yelp in pain after being kicked then we're a Karen

Azaleahead · 07/02/2025 19:49

I see a lot at kids football matches (worn by the spectators, not the kids 😂). They’re not my style but I always think they look lovely and warm and practical.
I rarely take off my oodie when in the house - I see this as the outdoor equivalent.

ObviouslyBlooming · 07/02/2025 19:52

DR is one of the very few companies who do adapted clothing.

Their coat for wheelchair users is amazing. And the only one I know that will cover and the legs and keep you warm.

For the people who are judging others wearing DR anywhere but the sea, would you judge me too for using something that actually keeps me warm?

2chocolateoranges · 07/02/2025 19:55

I have one, I work in an outdoor nursery and it keeps me warm and dry and allows me to layer up underneath it, I sometimes wear it into Tesco after work as I don’t take another jacket , if someone took a photo of me and posted it online i wouldn’t be happy.

it’s a work jacket and nobody else’s business why I wear one!

Weirdos taking photos of other people without their knowledge.

CantStopBuyingSeeds · 07/02/2025 19:58

My neighbour has a gorgeous little fluffy dog who wears a Dry Robe. She looks amazing! She even has a hood 🐾

Frequency · 07/02/2025 20:05

So, the issue is not the dry robe it is people who use them outside of their original intended purpose?

I wonder how many of the posters on that page were wearing running or training shoes while laughing about someone wearing a sports accessory without partaking in the sport.

Also, I am off to Google to Dry Robes. I need one for cold rainy walks.

LlynTegid · 07/02/2025 20:13

Making jokes about Dry Robes can be ok to me, depending on the humour. Non-consenting photos is not.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 07/02/2025 20:15

One enlightening thing I've learnt from this thread is wolf fleeces. Ive never ever seen anyone wearing one! Is it a regional thing? Im familiar with the artwork as seen pictures on items in market stalls wolf and dream catcher in one is deffo a double whammy 😂

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 07/02/2025 20:18

I wear mine walking home after the gym
Walking the dog on a frosty or rainy day
When I go camping too...

I don't give a flying f**k what people think.

Loveumagenta · 07/02/2025 20:19

Daisymae55 · 07/02/2025 19:36

Agreed. Or around the supermarket on a perfectly dry day.

Except you have NO idea where they have been or where they are going.

They last forever. Bit of a shame really, I fancy a different colour but really can’t justify getting another one when this one is in suck good nick.

Lots of pictures of men in DryRobes on that site too, I suppose that's misogynistic?

Yeah mate, except not really. Mostly women being photographed, along with some lovely comments along the lines of - she doesn’t look like she exercises much- and most of the comments from irrationally angry men. Or smug ones .

Benjibas · 07/02/2025 16:05

There’s also a page for The Wolf Fleece Appreciation Society where they upload pictures of people wearing clothes with wolves on. It shouldn’t be allowed really. It’s mean.

Edited

Oh goodness yes- Those are a definite meme'! a wolf's heads howling at a full moon- again coupled with ill fitting sloppy Uggs or crocks.

I love a wolf fleece as well! Tbh I don't drive the short distance to school. So walk rain, snow, hail, ice etc. so I might look a like short camo dumpling 😁. But fuck it I'm warm and dry. I also use it for swimming. It has been an emergency pram rain cover! A beach blanket. A makeshift umbrella / bus stop for the kids to hide under.

Germanymunch · 07/02/2025 20:24

Christ. Angry men who get to wear trousers and warm jumpers with big coats all year round angry that women aren't wearing skin-tight clothing for them to perv at... Sometimes, it is hard to believe we are in 2025!

Exactly! It’s a bloody coat, but somehow men have decided that it can only be used for a specific purpose.

I've looked. They're £165+. I can't justify that when I'm still losing weight and it might not fit me by next year. Next winter though...

putitdown356 · 07/02/2025 20:28

@Benjibas I like those wolf fleeces☺️🤫

I hear you. Mine was one of the original ones before they diversified from black. cost £95 prob a good 10 years ago it’s still I. Perfect condition there’s no way I can justify a new one.

I did get a Wylding jumpsuit for Christmas though. It’s brilliant for changing into after a swim.

OneForTheRoadThen · 07/02/2025 20:35

Which shops sell wolf fleeces? I've never seen one

But again a quick scroll shows a lot of women posting and taking photographs.

And I've seen different pages like the Full Kit Wanker based around men in full football kits.

I got a knock off in Aldi for £20...it's super warm, like wearing an Oodie out.
I'm well past putting on fancy things for a dog walk and don't give a flying toss that I wear one and don't live by the sea!

BuddhaAtSea · 07/02/2025 20:42

😂 I have practically lived in my DryRobe for the last 6 years at least.
Yes, I bought it for post swimming in the sea, I swim all year around, makes it easier to change on the beach.

I also wear it to the pool, I put a cossie on at home, swim, throw the dryrobe over as soon as I get to the locker, get in the car, go home.

I also wear it walking the dog, it hides the fact I’m still in my pyjamas early in the morning.
I wear it when I’m on night shifts too, to and from work.

I’ll never be without one and I don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks.

And yes, I have one for my dog too. It was given to me as a joke present, given that I love mine so much. I tend not to wear mine at the same time 😂😂😂
