Dryrobe W****r

Am I being unreasonable that I’ve discovered there is a Facebook page taking non consenting photos of lone women and children in dryrobes and mocking them. Or am I a snowflake? I wear one. Whilst I know they aren’t a stylish choice. It’s the most practical thing I’ve owned in years. I would be furious if someone took a photo of me and uploaded it

@Germanymunch Thank you. I will wander to Aldi tomorrow to look. I too do not give a shit. I often wear a giant Barbie Oodie out of the house when it is cold. My Ooodie is warmer than my coat.

I've looked. They're £165+. I can't justify that when I'm still losing weight and it might not fit me by next year. Next winter though...

I went from 15 stone to 9. And still wear a medium. I bought a small and the arms are shorter and it just looks better really oversized - in my opinion! I’ve never felt affection for a clothing item before. But it’s so snug. Down to my knees. Practical. It’s like a comfort blanket

Passenger do robes too, in fact EVERYONE does now.

Christ. Angry men who get to wear trousers and warm jumpers with big coats all year round angry that women aren't wearing skin-tight clothing for them to perv at... Sometimes, it is hard to believe we are in 2025!

They wear shorts and v.often flip flops round my way. Often follically challenged or a man bun/pony tail may be involved.

You can only be a dry robe wanker if you're wearing one miles from the sea, I.e in Asda. Plus points for wearing with crocs. And it's definitely not just women they target!

Agree it's a bit mean but all faces have to be blanked out.

I go to the local leisure centre three times a week, and there are often mothers going around after that with their children in dryobes. Sometimes see them in the local Starbuck's where my pal and I go for a coffee once a week. Seems very sensible to me.

The bastards! If they’re not carrying a surfboard you need to photograph them, put it in FB then make some comment about them being ‘lardy’. Off you pop.

Billybagpuss · 07/02/2025 21:04

There’s a lady that uses one at our David Lloyd. The outdoor pool temp is 28 degrees it does make me chuckle a bit. Mine will never leave the car when I visit dl

I dont know why people choose dry robe over a normal coat for day to day life

I've never been able to find a truly waterproof, padded coat. They're either waterproof but thin or padded and warm but sponge-like. Not ideal for a Beagle owner. Beagles do not notice weather. They do notice, very vocally, if they miss their walk or their walk is cut short because of a blizzard, giant hail stones, or a tsunami.

I don’t. I wear it it swimming, at the beach, watching my children play rubgy in the wind and sleet, camping - at night and it’s dead handy for those middle of the night loo runs, walking the dog in really rotten weather becuase she’s a terrier and doesn’t give a stuff if the rain is coming g sideways at us…

Occasionally before or after some of these activities I might pop in to get a coffee
somewhere or into a shop for milk or whatever. And then some arsehole is going to take a picture and put it on SM screaming NOT NEAR the sea! DRW! ? Do me a favour.

I have normal coats and jackets. I wear them when appropriate.

because they're comfy, and you can wear ANYTHING underneath them.

menopausalfart · 07/02/2025 21:24

I must have been blocked from the page as I can't find it.
I've never owned one but if I did, they could post away, I don't give a balls what I look like as long as I'm comfortable.
I would have been mortified as a youngster though.

You must feel so superior

Boopeedoop · 07/02/2025 21:32

I will be shocked if I'm not on there, I wear my luminous yellow one everywhere! Life is far too short to give a shit.

Playgroundincident · 07/02/2025 21:34

There is also a wolf fleece appreciation society doing similar.

What is a Wolf fleece? I’ve just googled it and loads of jackets with images of wolves on came up 🤣, I’m thinking that’s not what they are.

Littletreefrog · 07/02/2025 21:39

That page is full of w*nkers presumably DryRobe-less w*nkers.

My teenage son is a National level competitive Open Water swimmer. I asked a question about DryRobes on an Open Water Swimming Facebook page which some pathetic individual reposted on that page for some inexplicable reason

If an Open Water swimmer can't wear a DryRobe at Open Water swimming events then who can?!

That's exactly what they are👍😁

BreezyScroller · 07/02/2025 22:01

I don't care if people like them or not, it's the judgement and sites against them that are bizarre.

A Dry Robe is £160+, a decent padded waterproof coat starts around that price point. I know you find cheaper, but you tend to get what you pay for.

If you only buy one, it makes sense for many of us to get the dry robe, which is a lot more versatile. Keep space and money for a smart coat.

I wonder how many sales they are going to get from that thread 😂

goingback · 07/02/2025 22:08

As well as Gorpcore i feel the same about members of the public wearing football attire and other sportswear when they clearly are not in the act of participating or supporting.

noodlezoodle · 07/02/2025 22:22

This is clearly not the point of this thread, but how do you wash them, or do you need to wash them? Asking on the assumption that the fleece acts like a towel, and towels need frequent washing.

Yes agreed. Anyone over age 18 wearing a football shirt, when not playing or watching football. Grimmest of grim. And if they take it off and walk round without a top on, even grimmer 🤢

Nectarines · 07/02/2025 22:25

I am a dryrobe wanker. My kids do cross country and I don’t want to be cold and wet.

Wemaybebetterstrangers · 07/02/2025 22:35

I feel quite sorry for people that don’t have a dry robe (or similar).. they’re missing out on complete weather protection. It feels like wearing a cosy head to toe waterproof towel and shield.

Loveumagenta · 07/02/2025 22:54

We had a long car trip and the kids used mine as a big snuggly in back of car. Also came in handy when one of them tipped head first into a steam and was soaked through
