Every day waking up to yet another insane declaration from Trump. America is losing the respect of the world

It's like a parallel universe - how did America come to this? So now he plans to ethnically cleanse Gaza we are told - to create the 'Riviera of the Middle East.' A golf course and hotels probably. The £2 million people can just go wherever. Wtf! AIBU to think America is imploding in on itself?

The US came to this because the Democrats presented themselves as supporters of the transagenda - this carried a lot of women who were fed up with finding people with penises in their same-sex changing rooms. That's clearly not enought, but didn't help because - surprise, surprise - women think women's rights to sex segregated spaces and to the rights they have won are important. The economy did not help, either, nor aggressive climate change actions without thought for people's livelihoods. And Biden showed himself to be incompetent and should have been told to gracefully announce in 2023 that he would not be standing for a second term. Kamala Harris was terrible candidate and anyway, the Democrats won't elect the first woman president, as in the UK the conservative wing will do that.

Oh, please. Give it a break.

And on a different note, I'm assuming from your post that your user name is ironic?

Democrats and swing voters who have realised the error of their ways need to act now...trump is already laying the groundwork for a third term...and manipulating the polls so he can never lose...otherwise they will never get rid of trumpism politics. They will suffer as will the world. Their tentacles are stretching into Europe and it needs to stop.

The government you elect is the government you deserve. Thomas Jefferson

Unfortunately, the world did not elect him but will suffer from his ravings. Particularly Ukraine and Gaza.

I truly believe that he and his henchmen are insane.

Fortunately, his approval ratings in the US appears to be on a downward trajectory.

There's nothing Democrats or swing voters can do right now. Trump has a majority in both houses and in the Supreme Court.

The only people who can actually do anything about Trump is the Republican Party itself.

MushMonster · 01/03/2025 16:16

100% behind John here!
He is fully right.
Europe and UK need our independance. In defence, technology, manufacturing, global trades.
We should actually design our own computer coding, our own version of MS-DOS and get rid of the hackers, ransoms they ask for and spies shite too.
Full weaning and emancipation.

Unfortunately, this is true.

The Republicans, at this point, are having to choose between the potential wrath of their voters and the consequences or angering Trump (potentially losing their seats by having Elon Musk fund someone to primary them). They know there is almost no change of losing their seat to a Democrat in very deep red areas, many of which have been gerrymandered for that purpose.

I would love to see some of them either develop a conscience or become more afraid of their constituents than they are of Musk and Trump, but don't hold out much hope.

So when WW3 starts it won’t be because of that fucktard Trump or Putin but trans people? Got it. That makes sense now.

Agree the dems can't do anything directly now but they need to make inroads now into the messaging and targeting of voters for the midterms and beyond. They need to make inroads into how to reach and resonate with young men, disgruntled trump voters, undecideds, and pro crypto people ...modernise how they reach these voters (social media, tiktok) and stop just relying on what they have already.

But this will of course necessarily mean getting closer to the EU and I worry that the Reform shills will be out in force to prevent that. Our fate at the hands of Trump's US won't be good though. I wish there was a way to highlight this again and again.

I highly recommend you search for ‘Kevin Bloody Wilson’ and his ‘What’s Donald Going to do Today?’ on YouTube.
It’s hilarious.

The biggest worry for some Republican politicians is that the MAGAts will get violent if they question the Dear Leader.

I'm not sure how effective the EU will be as a body, with Orban openly pro-Russian. Some other member states will be too nervous to get involved while the likes of Poland and Estonia have their own borders to defend from Russian aggression. We really need to act bilaterally with France.

There is a whole ocean between UK and US. I think geography is reason enough to drive the decision of who to align with.
Farage cannot stop a whole nation, with such a small number of MPs. Do they want to riot? Then there is the jail waiting for them .

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/03/2025 17:21

It's not a conscience they need. It's a spine and guts!

They allowed Trump to bully his way into being their presidential candidate. They backed down because they feared the Trump "meatgrinder". They appeased him. And now they're finding out that appeasing megalomaniac bullies doesn't work.

I hope they find their spine soon. Americans need them to.

CaveMum · 01/03/2025 17:30

Zelenskyy just arrived at No 10 despite not being expected (by the media) until tomorrow.

CaveMum · 01/03/2025 17:39

Cheers from the crowd as he arrives.

I dont think we should be surprised that people feel unable to stand up to Trump, he has command of a de facto militia comprised of heavily armed, hard of thinking cult members.

Oh yes, of course. Man’s country has been holding off a despot for 3 years under his strong leadership. Of course we can’t do business with him though unless he wears a suit.

Don’t be bloody ridiculous.

Presumably you take great objection to the unelected Musk swanning around Cabinet in jeans and t-shirt and making uninvited interjections?
