Why are you awake?

I fell asleep on the sofa. I've got myself to bed and found myself wide awake.

I'm worrying about work and working from home tomorrow (we have a hybrid approach at work which works OK when staffing levels in the office are managed by mamagement).

Stress levels are making me want to wee all the time and I dribbled a bit when I got up off the sofa earlier. The quick ahower has woken me up good and proper. Now I have a slight stomach pain and feel bloated.

Hmppph.

Oh, and two out of four pets are being noisy talking and drinking! It's ok though, they're cute!

I'm awake because I am in a different time zone.

anonny55 · 05/02/2025 01:44

36 and 3 days pregnant, had a major bowel clear out all day. Now starting to get some little niggles on and off. First baby so god knows what I should be expecting 😂
I should probably just roll over and try and sleep for now lol

AlisonDonut · 05/02/2025 01:46

The cat. He needed the light turning on to go downstairs apparently.

Wishboneswishes · 05/02/2025 01:46

DH was called out to a job (emergency services) and I woke up as he was going out the door. I’m now not tired! And hungry …

Same! Not my usual one but all the same awake and working

WearyAuldWumman · 05/02/2025 01:48

My sleep patterns have been off since my husband died 4 yrs ago. Even prior to that, it was off - he used to have to get up during the night and latterly he needed my help.

Did try sleeping tablets for a while, but I was aware (and wary) of becoming too reliant on them.

Softpebbles · 05/02/2025 01:49

Anxiety. Worrying about everything going on.

Acidy tummy. Probably from new anxiety meds.

Fluffyhoglets · 05/02/2025 01:50

I've been doing some work I need to send off first thing in the morning. I don't work all evening but find I'm quite productive at about 10pm due to the panic of the deadline!

Confusedmermaid1 · 05/02/2025 01:50

DH is full up of a cold and snoring his head off.. I’ve taken myself off to the spare room but I had to put the light on to move some clean washing off the bed.. serves me right for not putting it away this afternoon 🙄 so now I’m wide awake and I can still hear him snoring through the wall

ShouldIEvenBother · 05/02/2025 01:51

I wfh and finished at 10pm (started at lunch time so not a ridiculously long day!), then went for a walk for 40 mins as needed to stretch the legs and get some fresh air after being sat staring at a screen solidly for 9 hours. Came back, cooked dinner, ate, and had some wind down time.

Why are you worrying about work OP? Just think, this time tomorrow the working day will be done. Could you plan something nice to do affer work as a way of focussing your brain away from worrying?

YourOchreSloth · 05/02/2025 01:51

Stayed up too late watching Greys Anatomy. Can't sleep now and DH snoring his head off next to me.

Finella12 · 05/02/2025 01:52

I think I may be burnt out.

Oh my, that's exciting! Sounds like baby might be due to make an appearance!

Feeding baby. 9 months old, never slept through

Im sorry to hear that. With work or life or both?

I can't remember a night where I haven't woken at around this time. Sometimes I'll go back to sleep pretty quickly, other times (like tonight) I'm struggling. Picking up my phone doesn't help and yet here we are.

Lots of things going through my mind, mainly work related. I'm currently working my notice period having got a new job, but as every day passes I worry I've made a big mistake. So there's that. Plus a load of DC related stuff. I wish I could just turn my brain off. I'm going to be knackered in the morning. Again.

Gingerbreadloony · 05/02/2025 01:55

It’s almost midday here in Oz…

LouH1981 · 05/02/2025 01:56

Both. I just don’t have anything left to give either of them, to be honest. I’m so tired.

MakeYourOwnMusicStartYourOwnDance · 05/02/2025 01:57

I work shift hours and not a nice 9 to 5 office hours so brain doesn't want to go to bed yet although I'm going to make it do so very surely e so I don't regret it too much in the morning 😁

ACatAsleepInYourHat · 05/02/2025 01:58

I didn’t feel particularly well yesterday afternoon, so had a couple of hours nap on the bed. I didn’t feel much better afterwards, and now there’s the inevitable knock-on effect of being wide awake. And my husband is snoring louder than usual, too, so I’m considering going downstairs for tea and toast. I just need to summon up the willpower, cos I’m actually quite warm and comfortable…

Sneezeless · 05/02/2025 01:58

Insomnia with a side dish of horrendous flatulence. Yes, my stench is keeping me awake. The husband asked me to sleep in the spare room. Don't blame him

That's a really good way of looking at it. I'll treat myself to a nicely cooked dinner and perhaps a read of a good book or just even watching the news. Something I enjoy doing but rarely get time to do.

It's coming up to year end for my work and I'm worried about all that comes with it, plus all the extra stuff at work and then line managing people, which I find really tricky sometimes. I've fallen well and truly out of love with my job. It pays well though but goodness, I work so hard for that wage.

I love the thought of a walk at 10pm! Is it safe to do so where you are? Young men have taken to riding round on mopeds with machetes, we think selling or running drugs round here, so not safe to be out really. The police don't seem to be proactive. There's a park near me and it's beautiful. I'd love to walk and sit in there for a while at 10pm. Maybe in the summer with the lighter evenings.
