Why are you awake?

I fell asleep on the sofa. I've got myself to bed and found myself wide awake.

I'm worrying about work and working from home tomorrow (we have a hybrid approach at work which works OK when staffing levels in the office are managed by mamagement).

Stress levels are making me want to wee all the time and I dribbled a bit when I got up off the sofa earlier. The quick ahower has woken me up good and proper. Now I have a slight stomach pain and feel bloated.

Hmppph.

Just because I woke up! Watching Silent Witness on TV with a cup of coffee.

My youngest DD is in intensive care after a terrible road accident 2 days ago. Came home tonight for the first sleep since but after 3 hours I’m wide awake and can’t get back to sleep. I’m so frightened for her. 😢

Little ferns, I am so sorry you are going through this. What a frightening and tremendously difficult time for all of you. I hope she gets stronger and better every day 🙏🏻

What a weirdly comforting thread. I feel we are all in some exclusive club. I've been awake all night with the cold from hell which my dh gave me. I've tried to sleep but can't.

Lots going on in my life too I'm a worrier and over thinker, having counselling for this and previous past childhood trauma which is helping me make sense of it all.

Sorry to hear some of your stories, so sad and I hope things improve for everyone. I'm now off to make tea and toast (great idea from pp) and hopefully might be able to sleep later today as I'm not moving from this settee.

Devon24 · 05/02/2025 05:22

I lost my dog. Life hasn’t been the same since. I use night times to cry as I can’t during the day. My other dog might have cancer and is with me at the end of the bed. My heart feels really heavy.

Reading this thread, I realise how tough life can be at times, sending love and hugs to everyone on here. And lashings of warm buttery toast and tea to get us through.

I have found it comforting in a way too.

I’m so sorry. That sounds really difficult.

Up feeding 5 week old dd. Tonight is better than last, when I didn't sleep at all. I managed to put her down for 2 hours before this feed. Hoping she might let me again.

Sorry to hear of all the stressful, sad and upsetting things people have got going on.

Absolutely. I love threads like this everyone is lovely and supportive which is somewhat unusual for an AIBU thread😂

Health care worker and doing my 3rd night shift and really looking forward to my 4nights off.

Quiet then?

Probably on a very well earned break

Awake because we had to let our lovely old boy go today.
Tomorrow will be donating his dog toys, bed and food to rescues.
The house is so empty, neither of us have eaten. DH and DD asleep.
May make some tea, if I can face moving with no shadow.

The pain is horrendous. I know how you’re feeling. So sorry. He would say thank you to you for everything.x

Augustone · 05/02/2025 05:33

Worried about my work team- lots of changes and not enough hours in the day and I am spinning around in circles. I have just done a couple of hours crochet while watching Yellowstone and am about to go and shower and go to work. It is going to be a long day.

Hall84 · 05/02/2025 05:40

So sorry to hear of the sad/stressful times going on.
I've been awake for an hour worrying about work. I'm going to hand my notice in for a job much nearer home but there's been lots of other changes in the team. I've also got s mountain of paperwork I'm behind on thanks to a full-time job, young daughter, family bereavement and a divorce. It's the second time I've woken up at this time in 2 days so I need a to do list!

Fleetbug · 05/02/2025 05:42

Came here out of curiosity- stayed for the love. @Littleferns sending love and hugs. Give yourself lots of good food , exercise and sleep whenever you can. Wishing you and yr DD all the best. ❤️
Woke up at 4 grateful for a 6 hr sleep as I suffer often from insomnia and stress… I’m getting help from NHS.

Claradelune · 05/02/2025 05:46

I haven't taken a test yet but have all my specific pregnancy symptoms. There was only one possible time it could have happened and we used protection. I have been up all night cleaning and doing laundry (my stress response). My mind is everywhere

Luluem · 05/02/2025 05:49

Ignored baby hoping against hope that 4:50 wasn’t my wake up time for the day but looks like it is 🙃 feeding now and hoping all with anxiety/grief feel better in the morning.

My life is so stressful right now. I worry all night and can't sleep. My Dd is having suicidal ideations and self harming and I have struggled to get any help for her and I was suspended from work due to an accusation that has been found to be completely false. They have said I have no case to answer but have moved me to a different team anyway. I loved my team and my job and don't want to move. I am really upset about it and feel I am being punished when I did nothing wrong. I have appealed the decision and am hopefully going to speak to someone tomorrow. Hence being awake.

I went through a similar situation with my dd. This will be of little comfort to you at the moment because you’re in the thick of it, but it will pass. Your dd will come through this. My situation with my dd really did push me to the edge. I ended up having suicidal thoughts myself for quite a while. But I promise it will get easier x

Trounlet · 05/02/2025 05:59

Hip pain has had me awake since three. I've been up coffee, fed the cats, written 2x shopping lists, planning my work day (& wondering if I can fit a snooze in as off to the theatre this evening)

IncaDove · 05/02/2025 06:01

I hope everybody’s day goes well, or at least as well as it can do.

@Littleferns I hope you see some improvement with your dd today

workisdull · 05/02/2025 06:03

There's a lot of sadness and stress here. Sending gentle healing vibes to your daughter @Littleferns

Miserable git in flat downstairs goes to work at half 5, some mornings the water pipes and bizarrely what must be the bathroom light pull cord clicking wake me up when he's getting ready for work. The noise travel is strange as I seldom hear anything else from any other flat in the block.

adamduritzvocalchords · 05/02/2025 06:03

Thank you @IncaDove, I have spent weeks being passed round and round agencies who won't help. It is so frustrating and has stepped up with her refusing to go to school on Friday. I am so conflicted between keeping her home and safe and her education (she is 15)

My dd is also 15.

We got no help at all from CAMHS but were able to find an amazing therapist ourselves.

I ended up keeping her off school for two months just to focus on her mental health. I just wanted to remove her from any situation that was impacting her mental health

LandSharksAnonymous · 05/02/2025 06:10

Been awake since 2. Had a call with DH (deployed overseas) at 5 so at 3 I just decided to get up as I was just clock watching. Spent an hour in the garden with my dogs, an hour cleaning and just got off the phone to DH. DC slept through everything. Pretty sure I could bring home a herd of elephants and they wouldn’t notice.

Hope that everyone who has been awake since early, for less exciting reasons than me, begins to see an improvement in their day!
