It's my DD 5th bday party today.

Huge party- 30 kids. It's at a venue with entertainers etc.

Last night she threw up at around 6pm and then again at 10pm. No fever and has been sleeping soundly since.

Would you cancel the party ?

I'm thinking to see how the morning goes, as the party isn't until 2 and then, go from there.

I expect that the next update will be that the party went well and no-one got ill, as the OP predicted.

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 01/02/2025 15:43

Drip, drip, drip.
Little Mumsnet tales.
Every single day.

Drip, drip, drip.
It goes on for hours.
Until OP gets her way.

Puke, puke, puke.
Go the kids after the party.
Such a fine Birthday.

Ilovecakey · 01/02/2025 18:17

You're an absolute selfish person! All them poor kids and parents!

Kellorello · 01/02/2025 21:19

Hilarious 🤣🤣🤣

So sick of idiots posting these type of is this unreasonable, when clearly they don’t think they are and won’t listen to other people’s opinions if it clashes with their own 🫤🫤

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2025 22:57

As others said not sure why you posted

you are going to /or have now as it 11pm / ignore all the posts saying yes you are

sickness is horrible and a shame things have to be cancelled if someone has been sick

rather then spread it and give to others

I thought all schools had a 48hr rule for s&d

crumblingschools · 01/02/2025 23:02

Maybe OP can’t respond as they currently have their head down the loo🤮

Wordsmithery · 02/02/2025 02:04

I'd be furious if I picked up d&v from a sick child at their party.

Oooh, years ago we turned up at a daytime party where the hostess greeted us at the door, carrying her 3-year-old daughter in her arms, saying she'd been vomiting all night and day. I told my DH and sons in no uncertain terms not to touch anything and we wouldn't stay long. And yes, most of the party went down with a severe vomiting illness, including a family that was visiting the UK and tagged along - they couldn't fly home when they were supposed to.

Haha no. My daughter doesn't have a virus and hasn't made anyone else sick. Party went really well, everyone had a great time.

Don't be so ridiculous and smug. You won't know now whether you made anyone else sick. It will be more than likely next week when people start to show symptoms. Did you really think if no-one was sick at the party, then it's all fine and dandy?

TheThreeMiracles · 02/02/2025 08:16

@cameheredor are you that clueless ? Whoever catches it will come down with it tonight / tomorrow ! You're very selfish ! I hope you at least let everyone including entertainers know that she wasn't well.

cameheredor · 02/02/2025 08:28

So anxious again guys. Things are going to be ok.

Sometimes the worst case scenario really doesn't happen..

OP posts:
TheThreeMiracles · 02/02/2025 08:46

I'm very anxious around vomit I have a phobia ( go on mock me for that I'm not bothered ) but what about people who have family members who are extremely poorly with cancer or other illnesses that they suffer with then having to catch sickened because some people are selfish !

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 02/02/2025 09:39

Next up I have measles should I go with my daughter to antenatal class?

crumblingschools · 02/02/2025 09:43

@cameheredor if your DD was sick twice in one day would you visit an elderly relative in a nursing home the following day with her? And it doesn’t matter whether elderly relative said yes there are other residents to consider

TheThreeMiracles · 02/02/2025 09:49

@crumblingschools of course she would ! Because it's totally normal and too many anxious people in the world! She's a selfish mare !

OP, told all the guests that her kid had been sick. It was then their choice whether to come or not. That's not selfish.

Well, I'll tell you one thing, as it's less hypothetical than your scenario - my MIL takes chemotherapy drugs and she came to the party. Knowing full well that DD had been sick. She didn't think much of it as it was a brief episode and didn't continue into the next day at all and DD was up and hungry for breakfast. Had it continued, I would have called the party off and would probably have avoided MIL. Although MIL is not an over worrier and spends time with the kids, even when they're unwell.

Like I said before, I also take drugs that suppress my immune system, but seeing as I have young kids- I can't really avoid getting bugs a lot. I also go on packed trains and into an office etc and to events at school and parties. Unfortunately bugs are everywhere.
