To think eventually, UK could become a part of the USA?

Depending on how Trump gets on … he doesn’t seem shy about taking over other countries. On paper it would make sense globally for the UK and the USA to become one … USA, Canada,UK - what a superpower that would be.

on top of this, there is a hell of a lot of UK support for Trump, I don’t even think the British would object to a takeover on the whole

Seems far fetched I know - but less far fetched that it did a few years ago

I haven't much support here for a convicted sex offender to become our leader...

FreddieMercurysCat · 28/01/2025 17:59

Absofuckinglutely not! If that ever happened I would finally use my dual nationality (which my son also automatically gets), get our EU passports and GTFO of Britain.

WaryCrow · 28/01/2025 18:01

I wonder if having a known sex offender put in charge of the country would constitute grounds for seeking asylum in Europe? Hey hang on… could this get my family into Europe??

bombastix · 28/01/2025 18:02

Bloop bloop bloop - welcome to the AI Anglosphere and its bots.

Plus a few "Otto" speakers.

SerendipityJane · 28/01/2025 18:03

I wonder if anyone posting feels educated by this thread ?

(And I am not saying that like it's a bad thing).

bombastix · 28/01/2025 18:08

Well I've learned Chinese AI is better. Reddit posters don't think much of our armed forces and that basically advancing treasonous ideas is tolerated so longer as your prospective overlord speaks English.

Whilst that is true, the continuation of this thread suggests the one thing posters haven't read is the US constitution. Which means they are unlikely to be American.

bombastix · 28/01/2025 18:15

We could just cut to the chase and say that Ukraine is better off in Russia.

So much in common, what a power it would be...

Meeatcheese · 28/01/2025 18:22

Unbelievable!

EasternStandard · 28/01/2025 18:39

This is a non serious thread but the poster who talked about anti American sentiment leading to current US policy isn't wrong

We won't be joking and laughing when that kicks in

This is satire, right?

Longwaysouth · 28/01/2025 18:55

Actually, it is about time those rebellious colonials in the USA should beg forgiveness from King Charles and ask to be part of the British Empire once again.

fingerbobz · 28/01/2025 18:56

Whaaaaatttt?

Is this a joke?

fingerbobz · 28/01/2025 18:57

Four years and he's gone

At least we can rely on that

Isinglass20 · 28/01/2025 18:57

My god. So many criticise Starmer after 14 yes 14 years of mismanagement of the other lot
and their strategy of depriving NHS and staff of essential funds to allow in US Healthcare in which they hold shares to make a lot of money. Starmer tells it as it is. Hitler and Trump got into power by telling people what they want to hear and see how that ended up in Germany and we’ll see what happens in the US

Can we though? Wouldn’t put it past him to find a reason to suspend or change the constitution.

Far too many right wing idiots in this country.
The morons voted for brexit but would love to be governed by a foreign psychotic narcissist.

asrl78 · 28/01/2025 19:45

The UK population is doing its best to turn the country into an eastern Atlantic clone of the U.S.. Neo-liberal capitalism, increasing self centeredness and entitlement which has got worse since the pandemic (and likely is at least partly imported from the U.S.'s don't-give-a-shit-about-what-anyone-thinks-of-you meme), an unhealthy car culture, dreadful health (including high obesity levels) brutally exposed by the pandemic, fawning over and voting for gobshites instead of listening to reasoned experts, lack of collective responsibility, dangerous right wing extremism especially towards immigrants, antagonism towards Europe, and a ridiculous and massively over the top level of exceptionalism which is in complete denial of how much down the crapper the UK is going, both economically and socially. I see a massive and painful reality wake-up call coming to the UK in the not too distant future if we carry on down this path.

It is more likely that Trump will lose a state than gain one. It’s already been commented by Californians that they would be better off no longer part of the union of states but as an independent state. Not sure that would gather momentum, and the fact it’s only 4 years would probably swing it if they were asked to vote on independence. But right now that would be more likely.

(that’s before you factor in the people who like Trump also tend to like the Royal family, have slight obsessive tendencies over the British identity, that would all have to go to join the USA, do they really like him that much? He’ll be gone as president in 4 years anyway.)

He’s bound to have a stab at amending the constitution to enable him to serve a 3rd term.
After all, God spared him from the assassin on purpose so he could make America great again, so it’s only right that he should be President for Life.

TeaAndTattoos · 28/01/2025 19:57

I’m not saying it’s a stupid idea it’s just an idea that should’ve stayed in your head that didn’t need to be shared with the rest of us

NewBrightonEel · 28/01/2025 20:00

We’re such a small country with very little to offer. Why would he bother? 😂 (I love living here but politically we’re hardly valuable.)

Has anyone seen ‘You’ve been Trumped’ by Anthony Baxter what he got up to in Aberdeenshire, Scotland with his Golf course . He tore up a coastline declared a site of historic scientific and environmental value and turned it into artificial sand dunes. He cut off the water supply of Molly Forbes a woman in her late 80s for years she had no access to water. He said she reminded him of his mother. He promised jobs for locals but what transpired was a handful of jobs..also factor in the Bankruptcies , sexual assaults and his provocative BS just to get headlines he’s like a pantomime Villian .
