Do you have a pudding every night?

Exactly my question. I'm so used to having a pudding, no matter how small, every night. If we don't have one it feels like the meal is not complete.
As I'm overweight it needs to stop. Need to save some money too. I have a wardrobe full of nice clothes that don't fit.
If you do have a pudding & still keep the calories down what do you have? Fruit salad is the obvious choice, but you get fed up of it after a while.

No I don’t. But then I don’t really have a Sweet tooth.

Honestly it’s a habit. It is possible to break it.

Praying4Peace · 23/01/2025 19:25

I only have a pudding on special occasions and that's the same with most people I know.
Fresh fruit salad sounds a great alternative, all the best with your weight loss journey

devildeepbluesea · 23/01/2025 19:26

Very rarely - I have a salt tooth not a sweet tooth. DD always asks though.

I’m also overweight though! Too much cheese and crisps.

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 23/01/2025 19:27

oh yes, even if just a penguin.
Having Nadiya Hussian lemon and basil shortbread with raspberry and white cholocalte filling tonight,

Onemorespoon · 23/01/2025 19:27

Full fat Greek yoghurt with fill you up. Tbh I have some chewing gum after my dinner sometimes if I feel like snacking (when I don’t need it) and it works pretty well!

AlexandraJJ · 23/01/2025 19:28

Rarely, a few times a year perhaps although DD does always

ItsJustADream · 23/01/2025 19:29

I do keto and I have 5 or 6 frozen raspberries or strawberries after dinner with a cup of tea. It sounds a bit weird, but they are quite delicious to suck on and they satisfy that dessert craving for me.

I agree with this. I’d only have it as a treat. And also what PP said about habit. Try drinking water (or even a nice cordial - I’ve been doing dry Jan and really enjoying ‘Bottle Green’ elderflower and pomegranate cordial-so delicious, even if you have it really weak 😋) as a way of ‘filling up’ a bit more with your meal.
And yes, if you’re going to struggle with cutting out puds straight away, try having a bit of fruit afterwards, even a fruit salad which would last a few days and feel more special.
wish you all the best! I’m making some changes with my health at the moment and it feels really good once you get a bit of momentum 👍

GellerYeller · 23/01/2025 19:30

I leave it an hour to see if I’m actually full. Frozen berries and a nice lemon yogurt or baked grapefruit sorinlkled with ginger is my go-to healthier option Sometimes just a chunk of chocolate or a handful of gums hits the spot.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 23/01/2025 19:31

I loveeee 0% fat Greek yoghurt, half a punnet of strawberries, and a brunch bar crumbled up over the top (or to be decadent, melting a few squares of Lindt and drizzling over....) 😋

To be fair it's what I have for breakfast, as I don't have dessert regularly. But if I'm craving something I have this!

wombpaloumbpa · 23/01/2025 19:31

I never used to until pregnant. Now I often do. I'm also overweight and it needs to stop. Kids are 6 & 4!

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 23/01/2025 19:32

No but I wish I could, love puds but really don't need to add to my calorie intake 😭

Hufflemuff · 23/01/2025 19:33

Does it matter? If you really want a pudding then have a pudding, but see where you can cut out a sweet treat from other parts of your day. If you're eating well all day, then treat yourself with a low calorie chocolate moose what's the big whoop.

If you're on about having a full on treacle pudding or full size magnum then that may be excessive if you're not happy with your weight.

BookRecsPleaseAndThankYou · 23/01/2025 19:33

Yes because the kids always ask. But it differs every evening. Lemon and poppyseed sheet pancake with a drizzle of honey and dollop of greek yoghurt. Melon. Tinned fruit and greek yoghurt. Ordinary yoghurt. Baked apple. Banana and custard. Rice pudding (especially if the main course wasn't one they particularly ate much of). Banana 'nice cream'. Blueberry pancakes.

A proper pudding at the weekend though like apple crumble. A tunnocks teacake on a Sunday!

Barney16 · 23/01/2025 19:34

No, and I love pudding. I have two chocolate biscuits with a cup of coffee before 8pm though. Try not to eat after 8. Meringue and fresh fruit? Or tinned fruit. The syrup makes it sweeter.

CoastalCalm · 23/01/2025 19:35

Frozen or fresh berries here and sometimes a yoghurt

Movinghouseatlast · 23/01/2025 19:36

Always a square of chocolate, but that's it apart from very occasionally.

ColinOfficeTrolley · 23/01/2025 19:38

Meringue nests crumbled over a greek yogurt with some berries is always nice.

IceIceBabyBump · 23/01/2025 19:38

Absolutely, pudding after every meal.

Lunch pudding is normally a chocolate bar or a few biscuits.

Tea pudding is about 9pm when we're settling down to watch TV. We usually eat tea at about 6.30pm. Most nights it's a heated thing (sponge cake, strudel, crumble) with cream/ice cream. But if we can't be arsed it'll just be a couple of chocolate bars or biscuits again.

Pudding is always accompanied by a cup of tea. Always

Katie0909 · 23/01/2025 19:39

I often have a Fab ice lolly as it takes a while to eat & is quite satisfying for only 80 calories. I have a sweet tooth & find it can stop me eating loads of chocolate.

DutchCowgirl · 23/01/2025 19:39

I always have frozen berries with greek yoghurt.

ColinOfficeTrolley · 23/01/2025 19:39

Or if you go on tiktok, there are lots of low cal high protein dessert recipes. I'm yet to make the protein yogurt bark, but I never have room in the freezer

RubberDuckyURtheone · 23/01/2025 19:41

No, it's one of these things that's habit forming and I've gone through phases of it before, once you haven't done it for a few nights you lose the urge I find. I do like a snack later on though, things like nuts with dark chocolate scratch that itch without being too wildly I healthy!

bakewellbride · 23/01/2025 19:43

I'm thin and have pudding once a week

verycloakanddaggers · 23/01/2025 19:44

No, the vast majority of days are without desserts.

What are you having for pudding, how many calories? It would seem an easy change to make. Switch to a piece of fruit or plain yogurt if you can't just stop.
