Do you have a pudding every night?

Exactly my question. I'm so used to having a pudding, no matter how small, every night. If we don't have one it feels like the meal is not complete.
As I'm overweight it needs to stop. Need to save some money too. I have a wardrobe full of nice clothes that don't fit.
If you do have a pudding & still keep the calories down what do you have? Fruit salad is the obvious choice, but you get fed up of it after a while.

Afters but not necessarily what I'd call pudding. Yogurt or fruit quite often.

Runningoutofthyme · 23/01/2025 19:44

Yoghurt with frozen berries and a drizzle of freedom choc sauce

or the mullet lights with choc sprinkles (the vanilla, orange and caramel pack 😋)

Cavalierchaos · 23/01/2025 19:47

I have a square of dark chocolate for pudding.

CandyCane457 · 23/01/2025 19:49

I have a yoghurt or bit of chocolate every day, I crave something sweet after I’ve eaten! Wouldn’t class this as a proper “pudding” though… save that for Sunday when I have fruit crumble and custard or something like that.

HorrorFan81 · 23/01/2025 19:50

If I need something sweet I have a square of dark chocolate, that does the trick for me

Yes because the kids always ask. But it differs every evening. Lemon and poppyseed sheet pancake with a drizzle of honey and dollop of greek yoghurt. Melon. Tinned fruit and greek yoghurt. Ordinary yoghurt. Baked apple. Banana and custard. Rice pudding (especially if the main course wasn't one they particularly ate much of). Banana 'nice cream'. Blueberry pancakes.

A proper pudding at the weekend though like apple crumble. A tunnocks teacake on a Sunday!

Edited

teacake best direct from the freezer.

I love sweet things. I have a little pudding every night, a half size piece of whatever, and it fits into my diet calories. Lost over two stone since August and yes I could lose it quicker if I didn't like pudding but I do, so.

2Rebecca · 23/01/2025 19:51

No. About once a fortnight

7ft1garysson · 23/01/2025 19:51

No, only as a treat

Dillydollydingdong · 23/01/2025 19:52

Muller fruit corner yoghurt

millfree · 23/01/2025 19:53

I only have pudding once a week at the most unless its Christmas or on holiday. I do usually have a sweet treat with my evening cup of tea like a chocolate digestive or lindor ball but thats it, otherwise I just have fruit.

Expletive · 23/01/2025 19:54

I very rarely have a pudding. It’s usually when visiting relatives.

I’m not slim.

TomatoSandwiches · 23/01/2025 19:55

I only make a pudding or desert if we are having a light dinner, soup or a glut of fruit and make a crumble or pie.
I do find if I'm looking for something sweet after dinner then a square of really dark chocolate is satisfying enough but I'm more liable to have cheese and crackers which is just as calorific tbh.

onwards2025 · 23/01/2025 19:56

As others have said it's a habit only so if you want an obvious way to drop calories then it's a good one to tackle. I have only ever had pudding as a treat so few times a year, it's very much that some people always have puddings and others have none, just few times a year.

On the other hand my weakness would be sides to a main, I've had to cut those out

Ihopeyouhavent · 23/01/2025 19:57

i never, ever have pudding.

DownThePubWithStevieNicks · 23/01/2025 19:57

I love puddings! I only have one about once a week though, because otherwise my weight would get out of control.

See also daily biscuits, cake etc becoming normalised. These are infrequent treats!

Crikeyalmighty · 23/01/2025 19:57

@LittleRedRidingHoody I could live on Greek yoghurt!! But prefer Farge 5%

No, just fruit and yoghurt every day but not always at the end of a meal, sometime it is the meal.
Proper pudding is for special occasions only so can be totally over the top.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 23/01/2025 19:58

Pudding makes me a bit itchy.

We sometimes have Greek yogurt and fruit or in summer ice lollies.

Floralnomad · 23/01/2025 19:58

Rarely , like Christmas Day . Even when I eat out I either skip it or have a mini pudding / cheese / coffee . My husband on the other hand has a proper dessert every night such as cheesecake , crumble , pie or rice pudding and fruit .

Tangerinenets · 23/01/2025 20:00

Don’t have a pudding but do usually have some sort of snack after tea. Yoghurt, fruit, a small cake etc.

LindorDoubleChoc · 23/01/2025 20:01

I have pudding if I'm at someone's house for dinner and they have made one. If I'm hosting here (very rare! tbh) I'll make a pudding.

I don't eat them otherwise, not even in a restaurant.

I guess I eat pudding about ten times a year?

The last one I had was Christmas pudding on Christmas day.

I don't dare have the 5% now, as I've trained myself to believe the 0% is 'normal' 😂

Winterskyfall · 23/01/2025 20:10

No, I have pudding maybe once every four months at the most. If I want something sweet after dinner I'll have a rice cake with honey. I feel like living at a goal weight is a series of choices everyday. Yes, I would enjoy pudding but I know how many calories it contains so I don't have it often. I think if you want to lose weight you have to form new habits not just for a limited period of time for the diet but for life.

Stephanie2018 · 23/01/2025 20:11

The coconut collab : chocolate pots are around 110 cals! And dairy free so better for the gut

You could have some fat free Greek yogurt with a teaspoon of honey and some fruit!

Lots of yummy treats on Kiki fits instagram page too :) she has a sweet tooth and posts really low calorie treats!

Most mini choc bars only low in calories too :)

Mini ice creams/halo top low calorie ice cream.
