Goodness me. I can’t believe I am back with an update. After starting the small claims process, look what turned up on my doorstep today! My Dyson Airwrap!!!

I hadn’t heard a single peep from my friend since my last updates on the previous thread.

What a shock I got when I got a notification from my ring doorbell this afternoon saying there was person at my front door. I checked and it was my friend sheepishly dropping a bag on my doorstep!

I was at work and knew I wasn’t going to be home for a few more hours. I sent my neighbour a text message asking her to take it in. I couldn’t wait to get home from work to see what she had dropped off 🤣 was it the original? Was it a brand new replacement? Was it the £150 replacement from Facebook?

When I got home and checked it out it appeared to be my original airwrap. I tested it and it worked just fine (so much for the sister spilling the wine!) and I checked the serial number and it definitely is mine!

What an absolute rollercoaster! I wasn’t sure if I should text my friend acknowledging the eventual return of the airwrap or not?

It is in a dark blue box, I attached a picture.

No I didn’t have my serial number written down. If you log in to ‘my Dyson’ it lists all of your Dyson products along with their serial number. The serial number is attached to a sticker on the airwrap itself

I hadn't realised you'd started legal proceedings. Had you heard anything at all from her?

Out of interest, did you need a solicitor to write the ‘letter before action’ and if you did, how much did it cost?

Did she definitely steal it or did the hotel find it and return it?

I think Version 1 was left at hotel. Then that became hotel can't find it so staff must have stolen it. Then, my sister borrowed it, spilt wine over it and it's no longer working. Interspersed with "you've ruined my wedding day by demanding that I replace the thing you lent me".

I love people like you and thinking the best in people.

Alas surely if the hotel had found it it wouldn't have been a cloak and dagger door stop drop off while OP was out without any message

Ahh, such good news. She plucked it back out of her arse and now it's back. The end.

Imagine if she actually gave or actually sold it to her sister or a friend and now she's had to make a prat of herself by having to ask for it/buy it back to get herself out of even more trouble. Now they will be thinking she's a complete twat too. Own goal. 😂

If you are truly interested in discovering the truth at the heart of all this, I bet Dyson would have a record of any repairs to your serial numbered Air Wrap. You probably just want to put this behind you, but I'd love to know 😉

Well least we have a conclusion, my dh has asked me every other day since if there was an update (Well January is a boring month) ! I'm really surprised she returned it....what was her motive ?!

I still can't get my head around the fact that had stolen it all along! All those cynical but apparently wise posters were right!
