Should she replace it? SHE RETURNED IT!

Goodness me. I can’t believe I am back with an update. After starting the small claims process, look what turned up on my doorstep today! My Dyson Airwrap!!!

I hadn’t heard a single peep from my friend since my last updates on the previous thread.

What a shock I got when I got a notification from my ring doorbell this afternoon saying there was person at my front door. I checked and it was my friend sheepishly dropping a bag on my doorstep!

I was at work and knew I wasn’t going to be home for a few more hours. I sent my neighbour a text message asking her to take it in. I couldn’t wait to get home from work to see what she had dropped off 🤣 was it the original? Was it a brand new replacement? Was it the £150 replacement from Facebook?

When I got home and checked it out it appeared to be my original airwrap. I tested it and it worked just fine (so much for the sister spilling the wine!) and I checked the serial number and it definitely is mine!

What an absolute rollercoaster! I wasn’t sure if I should text my friend acknowledging the eventual return of the airwrap or not?

My friend asked if she could borrow my Dyson airwrap for her wedding as money was tight and she couldn’t afford a hairdresser. It was a small wedding...

So she just tried to steal it?! Who does this to their friends? Anyway, very pleased for you OP!

You'd be surprised, a friend of mine has had several things stolen from her by another "friend" including an expensive pair of trainers and even her child's winter coat! Unbelievably she is still friends with this woman

rainythursdayontheavenue · 22/01/2025 20:10

Wow, I remember your threads OP and thought it was long gone. Don't message back. She doesn't deserve that courtesy.

I wonder if she or her sister had a family event recently/after the wedding that they kept it for .............

Floralnomad · 22/01/2025 20:10

I knew she had nicked it , cheeky cow , obviously waiting to see how far you’d take it .

Wakeywake · 22/01/2025 20:10

Cheeky mare. Don't message her, block her and forget you were ever friends.

Onlyhereforthebatshitneighbours · 22/01/2025 20:10

ThinWomansBrain · 22/01/2025 20:07

Print out all the threads and mail them to her😂
Just in case she's not on mn

This would be hilarious 😂

But probably better to be the bigger person!

Offcom · 22/01/2025 20:10

Well!

I think MacBooks have something in them which changes colour if you've spilled liquid on your computer, maybe the AirWrap has the same??

AnneShirleysNewDress · 22/01/2025 20:10

That's an update I wasn't expecting!

2025willbemytime · 22/01/2025 20:10

Are you sure it's all okay and safe? <frets>

EweCee · 22/01/2025 20:11

Wow. I genuinely don’t know what I would message her in response. A ‘thank you’ seems the wrong sentiment but what else do you say??!

Well Hello!
I wouldn't message her, leave her hanging never knowing if you received it or someone pinched it from your doorstep.

Gravitasdepleted · 22/01/2025 20:12

Send her a rental bill for the 6 weeks 😆

Cheeky mare. Don't message her, block her and forget you were ever friends.

This. Same as stealing 400 pounds from you. No need to say anything to her, she knows she is busted. But don't be surprised if she thinks it's all forgotten.

BalalaikaBalaclavaBaklava · 22/01/2025 20:14

I have actually just gasped out loud, reading this update. The sheer cheek of that woman. I cannot believe that she was willing to steal from you. How far did you get in the small claims process? Just wondering if that is what has prompted this belated return.

I'm very glad you got your Airwrap back and rid yourself of truly horrible 'friend'. Well done!

mnahmnah · 22/01/2025 20:14

She would actually risk a friendship because she wanted to do her hair with it?! Nuts!

Have you messaged her at all? I can’t decide if I would just ghost her, or send a message saying ‘so you did try and steal it from me then?!’ Then block and delete.

Lobsterteapot · 22/01/2025 20:15

Can I borrow it op? 😉

Jesus, that went on for a while, wonder why if she / they had it all the time why didn’t they return earlier, had she been notified about the small claims process?

I wouldn’t bother texting her but I would love to know what the hell they were doing and we’re they really trying to steal it off you?

500, I think! Even worse!

Frostynoman · 22/01/2025 20:15

No way! Well done you

AlexisP90 · 22/01/2025 20:16

OH MY GOD I HAVE BEEN HOPING TO HEAR AN UPDATE ON THIS!!!

I KNEW she had taken it!! Wine my arse!

Glad you've got it back! I wonder if she will message you asking if you got it OK?!

What a joke honestly. Your friend should start writing novels. She certainly has a vivid imagination

Doggymummar · 22/01/2025 20:16

Cheeky bitch! I would have felt awful every time I used it, if I had it under false pretences

Berthatydfil · 22/01/2025 20:17

So basically she is a thief who had a change of heart when she realised you weren't going to let her get away with it.
I hope you tell all your mutual friends not to lend her anything again.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/01/2025 20:18

What a cheeky little would be thief

The absolute nerve of her.

It took some balls to show up like that making a liar out of herself. Is she still claiming it was left in the hotel?!

She couldn't face you though could she?

Just glad you got it back OP

baubletits · 22/01/2025 20:20

I was literally just thinking about this not 5 minutes ago wondering if you ever got it back! Glad to hear you have it now, I wouldn't send anything to the friend, in fact I'd probably block her and pretend she didn't exist if I'm honest. But then again I've been known to hold a grudge...😁

Tricho · 22/01/2025 20:21

I am gobsmacked

They really do live among us
