Actually, two things.

  1. Put a close up of the label or a hint of fabric as the main picture, like a teaser, instead of a nice clear photo of the whole garment. I can’t be bothered to click on it to find it’s something I wouldn’t have clicked on if you’d just shown me the whole thing in the first place.
  2. Only post one picture or two really bad pictures. Just don’t bother.

Any more?

I think sometimes they just sew the wrong label in

Good point.

Recently collected a parcel while out walking the dogs. Got a message within seconds from the seller asking me to confirm everything was ok asap so they could receive payment. I purposely waited until the next morning due to their bad manners.

Does this mean that as a seller you don't receive payment for the item until the buyer says it's ok?

LaMarschallin · 24/01/2025 16:06

That's my understanding.
Can't remember how long they've got to say it's okay, but I've had a couple of buyers just let the wait period elapse and then I've got the money.
I'd say that's more rude than asking for prompt payment although I haven't done that myself.

If you're selling a handbag, give measurements. Pictures with nothing for scale make it impossible to guess the size.

I asked someone for dimensions of an item, she said - there's a photo of it beside my foot for perspective. Lady, I don't know what size your stupid foot is.

I was looking for some cheap and cheerful wooden beads to go with a dress I own. The number of dodgy cleavages I encountered was far too many for a sober afternoon. Massive props to the few sellers who put the length of the necklaces though.

I sell on vinted;I always ensure my items are

clean
*Well presented (eg ironed)
*Are the only items in the photo
*The photos are taken on a clean neutral background eg items photographed on a hanger on a white door
*The photo's have good lighting
*The items in the photo are clearly displayed
*Have an accurate description of

I've seen some terrible photos and some absolute rubbish posted on there that's clearly only fit for a bin

I'm waiting for someone now to confirm all OK. She received the parcel a few hours ago. Slightly annoying but i wouldn't message her asking her to hurry up!

The buyer may have picked up the item on her lunch break and not even have had time to open the package yet. You get 2 days to confirm all ok. I'd be cheesed off if a seller messaged hassling me to confirm same day as collection! Especially as sellers get a whole week to post.

Yes and I think eBay are going the same way from 4th February - seller doesn’t get paid until item delivered I think 🤔

2025willbemytime · 24/01/2025 19:45

If you block someone on vinted will they know?

lovemycbf · 25/01/2025 12:38

I scroll past screwed up clothing as if they can't be bothered to make it look presentable then why would I buy it

sleeptam · 25/01/2025 12:44

If someone's is wearing the item! Obviously I know it's second hand but it really puts me off Confused

Aintnobodygottime · 25/01/2025 12:48

I think the photos of people wearing the items often just brings home to me how few of us can be models. Not because of fatness, but actually most of our bodies don’t show clothes off very well!

GrimDamnFanjo · 25/01/2025 13:10

Colours get me sometimes.
I bought a top last week that photographed as black and white but turned up as black and beige.
The seller had only listed it as black.

Me too!

Smittenkitchen · 25/01/2025 14:40

So agree on the colours! I'm obsessed with colour analysis and am always looking for warm colours. An item being listed as "Burgundy" could be anything from quite a cool raspberry to a warm rust like shade which is what I'm actually after. Sometimes sellers don't seem to get what I'm on about when I try to ask for a more specific description of the exact colour and the photos can be very deceptive.

FussyPud · 27/01/2025 04:28

I bought something that looked royal purple on the picture, which turned out to be navy blue when it arrived. My fault for not checking, but that was some creative lighting!

LadeOde · 28/01/2025 14:15

Another pet peeve - Listing says 'dress size 10', but would fit a 12/14 too! Hmm
Make your mind up you can't capture the whole market.
