Actually, two things.

  1. Put a close up of the label or a hint of fabric as the main picture, like a teaser, instead of a nice clear photo of the whole garment. I can’t be bothered to click on it to find it’s something I wouldn’t have clicked on if you’d just shown me the whole thing in the first place.
  2. Only post one picture or two really bad pictures. Just don’t bother.

Any more?

'Worn but still got plenty of life in it' - no love, it needs cutting up for dish rags!

backinthebox · 22/01/2025 19:40

I don’t buy or sell on Vinted but DH and DD do. I think that when you are basically shopping an online version of a jumble sale, you should expect that you get a wide variety of item quality. It’s up to you to sift through it. If you don’t like that, go to a shop where it’s definitely new stock and hung up nicely. No one is forcing you to look at every listing!

OliveOil2 · 22/01/2025 19:46

Second hand coat for £150 or other ridiculous price. The fabric might be decent, but I'm not risking that amount of money for something that I can't try on and return.

catscatscurrantscurrants · 22/01/2025 20:25

Not specifying a size, just calling a garment 'Small' with no measurements.

Strawberryfruitcorner · 22/01/2025 20:25

”it’s got a mark on it but should come out in the wash”

errrr why don’t you wash it first you lazy git!!!!!

I scroll past all photos contain someone’s crusty toenails that they haven’t cropped out when taking photos on their floor.

Say it's BN or BNWT and upload a photo of it being modelled 🤦🏼‍♀️

I think it’s fine to model BNWT at home for photos, you try things on in a shop and they’re brand new with tags still.

Its not the same as wearing it out of the house.

LadeOde · 22/01/2025 20:34

Shoes that are in the box, literally, so all you see is the box unless you click on it. Can't be bothered with that nonsense. Some people are just hard of thinking.

JacaMae · 22/01/2025 20:46

Numerous (70) ROKA backpacks all photographed on the same background, all new with tags and all full price and more.

No, I'm not letting you fleece me, by making money out of the ROKA’s lucky dip sale.
Yes I have reported you for ‘bulk selling’, yes it was upheld and no, I am not interested in you losing the money you have spent!

sallyrhubarbbb · 22/01/2025 21:43

A slightly different Vinted annoyance - when I've saved something to come back to later and I immediately get a message from the seller along the lines of 'hi hun, I can get this posted out to you today, just make sure you order now or it will go'

It really puts me off, and in spite of myself as I could probably get a decent bargain, I un-save it and don't reply.

I think it's the 'hi hun' especially that makes my teeth itch.

BabCNesbitt · 22/01/2025 22:20

When there’s nothing in the description beyond a single word or two. “Green shirt”. Yeah, I can (hopefully) see that!

Globalwalker · 22/01/2025 22:29

When you can see a very messy or grubby room in the photo I find it off-putting.

Poor, blurry photos or listings where there is literally 1-2 photos and often not the back of the garment either.

Badly crumpled clothes that have never seen an iron.

No info in the comments ie measurements or not stating that a shirt/blouse is a sheer fabric and is absolutely see-through and unsuitable for work (been stung a few times when the photos made the fabric look thicker).

Items listed as Very Good condition and they arrive stinking of cigarettes and bobbled..

I’ve given up looking much anymore, finding anything decent is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Some people haven't got any common sense and don't think that a poor photo will put people off. It happens with jewellery on eBay as well - fuzzy photos of diamond rings 🙄

it baffles me how very shit some photos are!

If you've gone to the effort of taking photos and listing an item presumably you want to sell it and aren't just putting it on vinted for shits and giggles, so why not take the extra 2 seconds and take one decent photo?!

If it's a clothing item it's no harder to take a photograph of it on a hanger rather than lying crumpled on your bed, and looks a million times more appealing.

Time40 · 22/01/2025 22:31

Sellers who don't give measurements for items that really, really need them - which is actually most sellers. Saying a pair of jeans are size 10 or size 12 or whatever means next to nothing. I need to know the waist measurement, the rise measurement and the inside leg length. Why don't people just measure their bloody clothes? Is it really so hard?

RaininSummer · 22/01/2025 22:32

I wish people would always list the fabric or show it on the label. I always have to send a message find out.

Bloodylovecheese · 22/01/2025 22:35

Shoes when you can't see them from the side, to see heel height, the type of heel or wedge and if they're worn

'Has a few stains/marks. Should wash out'

Nope, I'm not wasting my time and money on something potentially fit for the bin.

This! It clearly won't wash out easily or they'd have done it!

Also "just need a stitch". Translation - "has a massive rip" (unless clear picture of slightly loose seam shows otherwise).

Reverse of that is people asking for measurements, Im not a shop. If it says Uniqlo size xs go look at their website if you don't want to risk your £2! I'm not fussed if it goes to the charity shop. I'm not measuring things.

DinosaurMunch · 22/01/2025 22:35

People who write "girls' jumper" or "boys jumper" but don't bother to put the size. I need the size not your opinion on what gender it's for.

Another one is "has a rip but doesn't effect use" . Ugh on two counts

Or 'true to size' on a item labelled M/L

pinksquash13 · 22/01/2025 22:39

@SmallBox 😂😂

Anyone have issues with children's size. If I filter to age 4, half will be 3-4 and half will be 4-5. Which one is it supposed to be?

I'd never expect people to measure the clothes. Even the original shops don't do this, surely?

I would have no idea what rise or leg length would fit but I know I generally fit a standard 10 in Asda or m and s, 12 in fatface and 14 in h and m.

Yes this is so annoying. Shop sizes 4-5 are meant to fit a 4 year old. But on vinted there's a kids size about age 2 that sort of appears twice and messes it all up. Like 12-24 and age 2 which are the same in reality but have different measurements on vinted ..

Newmumburnout · 22/01/2025 22:48

A bundle of clothes just piled together in one picture. No idea what the items are 🤣

ThejoyofNC · 22/01/2025 18:45

List it as new without tags and write "worn once" in the description.

I report these posts. Annoyingly, half the time Vinted says no rules have been broken.

Manky feet in sandals 🤢.
Plenty of life left..will put someone on ...big NO!
Bit of bobbling...but hardly can tell.
NO! Just no .
I throw out my own clothes that have bobbled.

You need an electric debobbler! Makes my clothes last so much longer.
