Actually, two things.

  1. Put a close up of the label or a hint of fabric as the main picture, like a teaser, instead of a nice clear photo of the whole garment. I can’t be bothered to click on it to find it’s something I wouldn’t have clicked on if you’d just shown me the whole thing in the first place.
  2. Only post one picture or two really bad pictures. Just don’t bother.

Any more?

If there's a picture of the seller wearing it. No thanks.

I like that though. I judge a bit so if I think that person looks nice and friendly I'd be more likely to buy it off them.

Reverse of that is people asking for measurements, Im not a shop. If it says Uniqlo size xs go look at their website if you don't want to risk your £2! I'm not fussed if it goes to the charity shop. I'm not measuring things.

Totally agree. I never put measurements on my listings, and it annoys me when people ask. Likewise, it wouldn’t occur to me to ask a seller either. For a few quid I’m happy to take the chance when buying.

Say it's BN or BNWT and upload a photo of it being modelled 🤦🏼‍♀️

Whilst wearing so much fake town you could pass for Donald Trump's love child.

@Doggymummar Why on earth do you think I'm buying things that cost only £2 on Vinted? I actually wouldn't expect anyone to measure something that she was selling for so little (but then, I don't really understand why anyone would go to the trouble of listing something for so little, either.)

Time40 · 23/01/2025 00:30

I'd never expect people to measure the clothes. Even the original shops don't do this, surely?

In a shop you can try things on. Buying online all you have to go on is measurements.

MarchingToTheBand · 23/01/2025 00:33

Time40 · 22/01/2025 22:31

Sellers who don't give measurements for items that really, really need them - which is actually most sellers. Saying a pair of jeans are size 10 or size 12 or whatever means next to nothing. I need to know the waist measurement, the rise measurement and the inside leg length. Why don't people just measure their bloody clothes? Is it really so hard?

Because it’s just not worth my time. I’ve made £500 selling on Vinted since December and have only measured one item. I only measured that because it was a £40 item. I don’t have the time to be measuring everything when it will sell eventually anyway, I’m not a shop.

I ignore messages asking for measurements unless it’s more expensive. All of the items I’ve been questioned on sold to people who didn’t ask for the measurements in the end.

Time40 · 23/01/2025 00:43

@MarchingToTheBand I just don't get it. Sorry, but I don't. You're prepared to photograph items, list them, describe them, interact with buyers, wrap things, post things ... you will do all that, but you won't do something that takes under a minute? I am totally baffled.

List it as new without tags and write "worn once" in the description.

Yes!! It immediately tells you everything you need to know about the item and the seller (and it’s not good)

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 23/01/2025 03:02

Recently collected a parcel while out walking the dogs. Got a message within seconds from the seller asking me to confirm everything was ok asap so they could receive payment. I purposely waited until the next morning due to their bad manners.

Bedofroses85 · 22/01/2025 23:05

I actually prefer this to get a sense of how clothes might fit. I wish there was a filter option to just see clothes being modelled.

Yes, I always like to see things being modelled too apart from when I saw some dreamy sandals. I was going to buy them without question until the last photo. Looked like a dead person’s foot, swollen and purple. I thought, omg, if they only realised just how much they’ve put me off!

I also like it when things are modelled and the wearer states their dress size.

salsmum · 23/01/2025 03:18

I had to Shock the other day, a quite nice dressy type top was listed as 'well worn' adding in not sure how it will wash because I've never tried! 😮😮😮🤢 what a bargain at £15!

Strawberryfruitcorner · 23/01/2025 06:37

There are so many kids shoes and wellies that come caked in free mud. It’s disgusting!!!

Saw someone claiming to have got a cashmere cardigan from primark on vinted. 😂

Primark have sold cashmere in the past. I have two jumpers cashmere jumpers from Primark. Also one from Tesco and several from George at Asda.

I'm very fussy about knitwear and won't buy it without seeing the fabric composition label and verifying that it is natural fibres.

Happy to be corrected. ☺️

"Will need a wash"

Come on - I'm not gonna buy your dirty old clothes - wash it before you sell it!

WorriedRelative · 23/01/2025 06:47

My personal bugbear is people selling for more than the item is currently available for brand new. Then getting shirty if you make an offer because "I paid more than double that".

I was recently looking at a dress, originally around £100, currently £45 in the sale. Saw loads of listings for it worn over £40, several over £50. One was damaged !

If you're selling something like a pair of high street brand jeans, buyers can just go and look at size guides on the store website. I wouldn't measure it unless asked.

ThejoyofNC · 22/01/2025 18:45

List it as new without tags and write "worn once" in the description.

I will admit to doing this! There's no option for perfect condition, very good to me means it's clearly used but still got plenty of life so this is the most honest way I can come up with. If it has been dry cleaned I'll say so and it goes without saying that it will have been washed otherwise. Only for items that genuinely have been worn once and priced accordingly (ie not as though brand new). I realise it might irritate others and open to a better suggestion that's still accurate.

A screwed up rag on a hanger or 'arranged' on the floor or bed

Where do you want it to be photographed?

You’d be really surprised how much those £2 items add up. I made £80 in a week before Christmas selling £1-2 kids’ toys

Cherrysoup · 23/01/2025 07:09

A jacket that I’d really like has been repeatedly reduced, my favourite brand, but the main picture is totally blurry! Bonkers.

Recent crackers I’ve seen include a very large lady with a frankly award winning chest size modelling the item she’s selling a very stretched top, clearly nothing underneath. No, no, I don’t want a hugely stretched top claiming to be my size but on someone approximately 5 dress sizes bigger.

arcticpandas · 23/01/2025 07:10

Listed as NWT and there are none and has clearly been worn.
Listed as bundle of 3 sweats for 5£ and then when you click you see that it's actually 5£/ sweat. I hate when they waste my time like this!
Or listed as new when there are stains/holes.
Also allergic to feet/clothes placed on stained covers-dirty floors/.
And I will not by anything from someone with large tatoos/piercings showing off the garment (yes I'm prejudiced, kill me)

InJadeHedgehog · 23/01/2025 07:12

Crojo · 22/01/2025 18:26

'Has a few stains/marks. Should wash out'

Nope, I'm not wasting my time and money on something potentially fit for the bin.

Yeah this always bothers me.
If it should wash out suggests that you haven’t washed it and are trying to sell something unwashed.
As clearly if the marks should wash out and you have washed it there would be no marks.

Smittenkitchen · 23/01/2025 07:14

Someone modelling an item who is many sizes smaller with message saying "model normally wears an XS.." I've even seen someone holding the excess of fabric out to the side on a pair of trousers like a weight loss "after" picture! Extremely off-putting.
