The KKK is feeling pretty empowered

This is what happens when a man like Donald Trump gets in power.

These are the people who feel empowered.

While MN celebrates the " only two genders ", people of colour in Kentucky are scared.

I've seen threads on here wishing the UK had Trump. Is this really what you want?

Is this really the type of people you want in power?

Those that voted for Trump over trans issues, what about shit like this? Or women dying from lack of abortion access? Or climate change? Or the casual revisiting of gay marriage rights?

According to GLAAD all resources referencing LGBTQ and HIV have been removed from the White House website. Gay, lesbian, no results come up in the search.

" Pages removed include WhiteHouse.gov’s equity report (no longer accessible), a fact sheet with information on expanding access to HIV prevention and treatment (no longer accessible), and information about LGBTQ Pride Month (no longer accessible). Agency page removals include Department of State’s LGBTQ rights (no longer accessible), and Department of Labor’s LGBTQ workers page (no longer accessible). "

This is scary shit. I don't get how any one envies?

KKK distributes flyers in Kentucky telling immigrants to ‘leave now’

Documents, including phone number and invitation to ‘join us’, distributed same day Trump took office

America has lots of very complex social issues that are not comparable to the UK. Trump standing up for women’s sex based rights is a good thing for their country though.

This statement could not be more wrong. Trump has been appalling for women's rights. We are so backwards now in the US women might as well go back to being property 🙄

It doesn't matter what he thinks personally. His actions are all that people care about. If his actions have a positive impact on women, is that a bad thing?

You're right, his actions have an impact. "Your body, my choice." has an impact. Death and forced pregnancy through abortion restrictions has an impact. The rise of right wing ideology and its primitive views on women has an impact. As does the rise of Christian fundamentalism. As does white supremacism. As does the rise in online misogyny because the president brags about sexually assaulting women - it has an impact.

anonymous98 · 22/01/2025 21:20

Nothing Trump is enacting will be positive for women. Absolutely nothing.

How are his actions positive towards women? Rape crimes soared when he was in office. The overall feeling of being unsafe as a women in public is grotesque. Never have I felt so I easy now that he has allowed the vile idea that women are just things to be so pervasive. Sex crimes and harassment in the workplace increased dramatically. Women do not have access to birth control and safe abortions. Women who need medical abortions are not allowed and many have become sterile and died waiting for their dead fetuses to be expelled "naturally." Insurance companies no longer have to cover birth control or women's health appointments. Schools are being defunded and before care and aftercare taken away as well as early childhood education such as Headstart. There is no plan for childcare or assistance for working parents. Poverty levels have dramatically increased.

I work in US healthcare and you clearly have no idea how absolutely devastating this man has been to womens rights and healthcare. It is disgusting and the defense of this vile man is unbelievably naive and ludicrous.

TheHateIsNotGood · 22/01/2025 21:24

The Donald does seem to be putting a 'better foot forward' than he did the last time he was Mr President; a bit less orange and blonde bouffant in appearance, a more direct way of speaking; etc.

Has he pardoned himself and wiped his record of all criminal charges yet? He's probably waiting until he storms and regains the Panama Canal.

I await his meeting with Putin. The rest of the noise and uproar from the opposition does seem to me just background angst at the mo. Not invalidating the objections but The Donald is an interesting show in the deep mid-winter.

Banyon · 22/01/2025 21:27

Trump did what was best for him politically …. He put the abortion legislation back to each state to decide.

Abortion is a messy American political issue for any republican …voters voters voters feel strongly on this issue and politicians follow the voters.

Politicians do what gets them votes. He passed the issue on to others. States decide.

If you want to blame people . Blame the voters … imo

Trump derangement syndrome.

What a useful addition to the discussion. Tell me, do you define said 'syndrome' as liking Trump or not liking Trump'? Don't you think that others are allowed an opinion? Do you think that everyone everyone who disagrees on any topic in your life has a 'syndrome'? Or are you just parroting something you heard on other social media?

ShirkingFromHome95 · 22/01/2025 21:54

Jeez, the woke contingent are really losing their shit rn!

It happened. Get over it. The people that voted for Trump don't care about the tantrums of those that disagree because it's these types of individuals that drive a lot of people towards the right in the first place. Some will probs be loving watching the tantrums as they sit back and munch on their popcorn!

Forget about the USA and read the room before Reform get in over here! They're literally stating on the front page of their website that wokeness has gone too far. Nobody used to give a shit about trans people until they started trying to get the rest of society to bend over backwards.

But when people started losing their jobs for stating their belief that men can't change sex or breastfeed etc....well, that's when everyone noped out and started disregarding the loons. A total own goal caused by ridiculous self importance. Nobody gave a shit what you identified as until you made it their problem.

And you may well be proved to be correct. But just as I said in my very first post in the thread, it is all about listening to ALL of the population. Working class 'blue collar' Americans may feel more secure if he is going to clamp down on illegal immigrant labour.

Sausagenbacon · 22/01/2025 22:03

he believes the female sex shouldn't be in business, government , anywhere but the kitchen or the bedroom.
I dislike Trump, but this is hyperbolic nonsense.
Just take a minute to check out who he has a s his Chief of Staff, for a start.

MellowTiger · 22/01/2025 21:06

Genuinely stunned.
A man wearing a dress is not a trans woman, that’s a cross dresser or a transvestite.
I suggest you do research into transgender and gender reassignment. I hope this issue doesn’t affect any of your family.
How many sex crimes are committed by trans women? The research is sparse, one of the reasons for this is because they don’t tend to be sexual predators.
Do you suggest that lesbians start using their own facilities because they may be sexual predators as well?

A man wearing a dress is a transwoman, check the Stonewall website. What you've said is extremely transphobic, I hope you educate yourself and do better.

How many sex crimes are committed by transwomen? Let's ask the HM prison service, shall we? Their figures don't at all support your confident assertion that they don't tend to be sexual predators.

It might be prudent to look at the dates when the changes to the constitution and allowed abortion decisions by state to take place. PS Trump wasn't the man at the top then, nor were his political party.

maddening · 22/01/2025 22:07

It is nor either or - being gender critical does not make you responsible for a group of racist men in Kentucky- nor does it mean that you are aligned or agree with them.

PrimalLass · 22/01/2025 22:13

I don’t think Trump has confused the terms sex and gender - he clearly stated his government will only recognise two genders.

Then read the executive order.

That comparison is dodgy because of the much smaller number of transgender prisoners (42,000) compared with male and females (around 30 million). For each additional transgender sexual criminal, that increases the number per million by 23, whereas for women and men it'd increase it by 0.03 per million.

This is a ridiculous assumption as well. Immigrants are not taking jobs from workers. Most Americans won't do the work that migrant workers here do. This is why food prices have gone up so much as it rots in fields. Farmers can't find help without our migrant population. In fact most of the entry level jobs can't find people as there is a shortage of workers here and no one to train up.

"Blue Collar" is called skilled trades now and immigrants don't pose a threat as the "working class" is not doing the same jobs. That is made up media nonsense to goad people into believing there is a false fear of losing jobs to immigrants 🙄 A bigger problem is outsourcing US tech jobs overseas, not immigrants.

Of course GC views don't make you responsible for racism. Voting a racist into power does.

Does it show that transwomen don't tend to be sexual predators, as PP has blithely asserted? I don't think so.

As I said up thread, you'd need to take that up with American voters. MN is a UK site based in the UK and predominantly used by UK women.

That is exactly the argument that led to Brexit in the UK. Uncontrolled migration. If the Country is so in need of these workers, allow them visa entry and pay tax alongside everyone else. Not work for wages below what is acceptable, in dangerous workplaces where they have no rights, for employers who are dodging paying their way.
