That picture of the Southport killer

1000 replies

User09678 · 20/01/2025 17:11

That has been circulating today.

Remember that sweet boy that was in all the reports at the time? The one who looked about nine?

Can anyone think of any other serious criminal who has pictures of them as a child out in the press?

i think it’s the CPS and public health England. I didn’t know it was undecided, a cliche imho if anything.

Our local psych
hospital has a new autism ward that you can only access from gaol.

the hosp has been the overflow secure facility from HMP Wandsworth for decades. It’s not much good for locals, autistic or otherwise - makes sense to be upfront.

No idea if there’s any treatment on offer, I thought autism
wasn’t an illness.

Being Autistic is not an illness. Autistic people I understand have greater risk of co morbid conditions. Being Autistic ( a huge spectrum) might mean some ( dependant upon level of vulnerability) will be more vulnerable to radicalisation ( in any form, from any ideology). If you add in environmental factors which can make life significantly harder and more traumatic for many Autistic individuals, then you might have a combination of factors that might lead to bad outcomes. Like any person really; a combined of factors.

I need more facts on this case. I don't believe all Autistic people are nuts and killers. Being called' Autistic ' is now appearing way too simplistic to categorise people who are incredibly diverse. I've been part of threads where we are discuss this and many agree that we just can't define an individual adequately in any way in terms of who they are, needs and vulnerability simply by using the terms Autistic, Level 1, 2 or 3.

If he is a nut job, why did he plead guilty? Just saying. He has pleaded guilty to murder, so he doesn't have "diminished responsibility". Confused.

A christian might be inclined to fess up…

The fact there were red flags is awful.

His father knew EXACTLY what his son was doing and fully enabled it! He should be done for assisted murder IMO.

Why do you believe brown or black men downloading the Al qaeda manual are Muslim terrorists and yet when far right white men download the same Al qaeda manual to commit terror against Muslims it’s whataboutery?

Of course he’ll get a life sentence but with a minimum recommended term. But isn’t our glorious leader, as a human right supremo, opposed to whole life tariffs? He’ll be sentenced as a minor and out in less than ten years with a new identity, no doubt.

I doubt he’ll even go to prison, it will be a mental health hotel all the way 👍

Of course. But SM posters prefer to make up diagnoses and speculate on his mh

What do you think they would possibly know about a 17 year old teen who was by all accounts a loner?

He was reported to the government’s
counter terrorism ‘Prevent’ programme three times.

So they certainly knew things about him, but they weren’t acted upon.

Coldanddamp · 20/01/2025 20:58

wasn't he first reported at age 13 so I do think the parents have some responsibility. He shouldn't have had access to all that stuff

Nobody should have access to that stuff. Just today I've seen many, many posts on Twitter referring to Palestinians/Israelis (depending on whose side the poster is on) as rats who should be exterminated - a shit load of propaganda from both the IDF and Hamas. People calling for the children of the opposite side to be slaughtered, just wtf?!

The amount of unchecked misogyny online too is shocking - women are constantly subjected to degradation and rape threats, it's rife - I've never known things to be quite so overt and intense as they are right now.

The hatred is palpable - it's no wonder that young minds are being drawn into the chaos. Parents are fighting a losing battle trying to shield their children from it, it's everywhere.

Yes, TwiX is a cesspit. I worry for impressionable young minds being on it.

Proof that the politician in question settled the Rudakubana family in the UK would satisfy me.

I mean the far-right accounts on x dot com, and LivelySwan wouldn’t make baseless allegations without evidence would they ?

So they must have evidence, especially as we were told to “do our own research”.

You're being very very silly.

Please list what would satisfy you as proof? Because with only screens I can't think of anything that couldn't be fabricated or faked and as such dismissed by you. So what kind of cast iron proof would you accept? Because I don't think there's any.

Absolutely horrified to hear the failures to keep the public safe when there were known risks with him over multiple occasions for years. It all stinks of a cover up. I feel sick for the poor mothers and families who lost their beautiful daughters to this monster

and let’s not get started on the thousands £££ that would have been spent to date on his defence (no doubt legal aid) and now he comes at the final hour and pleads guilty. Wonder what more would have come out at trial.

and his parents are just as culpable

RIP Bebe, Elsie & Alice.

Do we know whether the police were called about the previous incidents involving Axel Rudukabana? Would they have known about the Prevent referrals? Did he have a record or case file so to speak?
I suppose this is what the inquiry will find out.

I read in one paper(can't remember source , but I can try and find it) that police was called several times at their home and that he was seen by a police psychiatrist, but didn't engage with them.

It's true I work at a school and they have that in the prevent material. It did make me chuckle.

Cover up of what? How understaffed, underfunded and overstretched ALL our services are? Sure...

Do you think someone downloading this manual makes them an Islamic terrorist?

Or do you think there might be other reasons that someone might download this manual?

Well, there is going to be a public inquiry. So we will find out what was and wasn't covered up.

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/jan/20/father-stopped-southport-killer-axel-rudakubana-taking-taxi-to-ex-school-days-before-attack

"Neighbours said they saw police cars outside the family home “half a dozen” times in the weeks before he attacked the Hart Space centre, 5 miles away."

How on earth did he slip through the system.

Becuase police aren’t interested in prosecuting minors for violence or issues within the family, which in certain cases is a good thing. They say it is the remit of social services to provide help to families not the police, which is true, however social services are so stretched they will do nothing unless there is risk to the child themselves from the parents

What’s the statute of limitations for terror offences? Is 9/11 no longer relevant because it happened 24 years ago? The Norway massacre no longer relevant because it happened 13 years ago?

These far right men did all 3 things - downloaded materials, created a weapon of terror and were charged with terror offence of downloading the manual.
