That picture of the Southport killer

That has been circulating today.

Remember that sweet boy that was in all the reports at the time? The one who looked about nine?

Can anyone think of any other serious criminal who has pictures of them as a child out in the press?

I'm more concerned with who decided to have that trial today to hide it against the inauguration of Trump,
And what the Prime Minister and Home Secretary knew about this evil person, when they knew it and what they decided to tell the public.

You think that the UK court diet is organised based on US political events? Really.

Because there is a massive cover up going on. Establishment manipulation. He is a terrorist. There were riots and people were jailed for saying it was a terrorist event. Information was deliberately withheld and suppressed. The picture is designed to make people see him sympathetically. The sweet Welsh choir boy.

He also downloaded IRA material and ricin was used by the US too.

So you are speculating, without knowing about his diagnosis

If you suggest autism is linked to higher likelihood of crime you are likely making simplistic and reductive statements

'King and Murphy (2014) conducted an extensive review of studies investigating the relationship between autism and criminal activity. Their findings suggest that, overall, there is no compelling evidence to suggest that individuals with autism are more prone to criminal behaviour compared to those without autism.'

I am not a psychologist and I don't think you are.

I am sure a psychologist could give a detailed discussion on this rather than me simply doing some Google searches.

Coldanddamp · 20/01/2025 19:40

Not much help if the person just acts unpredictably and goes and does the crime without warning, but its better than nothing

But what threshold would it come under to get the person subject to that, and for how long, indefinitely?

Yes, that's the hard bit.

He did not produce ricin he obtained it. Having an Al Qaeda manual does not make one an Islamic terrorist and a referral to Prevent (especially where each time they determined there was no evidence of any terror related ideology).

What WOULD suggest islamic terrorism is islamic terrorist ideology but there has been no evidence of that in relation to this boy.

People were arguing islamic terrorism the minute they heard he was not white.

Someone I know used to work in counter terrorism, the majority of his work and work of his team centred around Neo Nazi organisations/supporters

Yes at recent training I had the Prevent trainer said the biggest threat was from the far right, although I cant rmember if that was UK wide or just the region (SE)

I was shocked at that picture. It’s terrifying, like something from a horror movie.

Same. Those poor girls 😭 Knowing that evil face was the last thing they saw is just bone chilling.

I hope he doesn't get murdered in prison he needs to suffer ever day for the rest of his miserable life.

RIP girls 💔💔💔

The result will still be a cover up, according to some.

Do you mean you yourself or are speaking for a friend?

Why has this turned into a racist accusatory post? Whatever his race or the colour of his skin, he’s a vile psychopath who deserves to rot in prison. I don’t give a toss whether he’s Muslim, Christian, black, white, has MH issues, had a crap childhood. He murdered three children, and deserves everything coming to him.

Yes. Trial rescheduled. Have you even notice the massive cunt who is our attorney general? Check out some of the choicest details of Harmer’s career. They wanted to bury it. I imagine he’ll be sentenced as a minor and he’ll be out quite soon.

I'm not sure we can learn many lessons from this. Some people are just bad. I'm not even sure his choice of target was motivated by anything more than wanting to cause the most death he could by hand most easily.

If you are a young man wanting to kill a large number of people, a children's Taylor Swift class is an attractive target, as it is an enclosed area full of little girls with only a couple of women to guard them. He wanted easy prey.

If he'd tried to target a childs football club for example, there would probably be an adult male coach present, plus some spectating dads. Not such easy prey.

Coldanddamp · 20/01/2025 19:42

I suppose the conspiracy theory arguments come into the fact that even if he was a terrorist (which I don't think he is) can they acknowledge that or does it make some
of the rioters/tweeters convictions unsafe?

What does any of that have to do with him being a muslim?

Ricin is not muslim specific, nor is a Prevent referral. Prevent investigated only because a referral was made but each time it was determined it does not fall under their remit.

Yes he had accessed an Al Qaeda manual but he also possessed information on the IRA so…?

NoSoupForU · 20/01/2025 19:43

EsmaCannonball · 20/01/2025 18:51

I hope the fact that there will be no trial doesn't shut down questions into this case. This was someone on the radar of the authorities, referred to Prevent several times, and yet still able to commit the worst of crimes. The terrorism narrative was quashed instantly, allowing anyone who raised it to be labelled a right-wing bigot, and then the information about the terrorism charges and the ricin was slipped out quietly later. The public don't like it when they feel like they are being managed rather than told the truth just because that truth raises verboten issues.

It was absolutely correct not to release that information because the general public are collectively and overwhelmingly too blinkered by emotion to have any sort of rational approach to things like this. He isn't a terrorist. He's a violent criminal, sure. But people seem to think that if someone with brown skin murders someone, let alone multiple people, it absolutely has to be an act of terrorism.

Terrorism is even defined quite exhaustively in law. An act has to be carried out in the name of a cause. Had the government come out and said oh he's not a terrorist but had materials pertaining to terrorism there would have been prolonged race riots from one tip of the country to the other, which would have benefited precisely nobody but would likely have resulted in serious harm.

Pull the other one, it has bells on.

If it looks like a dog, smells like a dog and woofs then it is one.

YoureNotGoingOutLikeThat · 20/01/2025 19:43

I wonder if people who say he was a terrorist can offer an explanation as to why he did not have a manifesto, claim the act was for Al Qa'edah or Islamic State etc Don't Islamist terrorist usually do this?

Its good to know we have a whistle blower at the heart of Govt to tell us all these top secret things....

We live in blessed times.

"Jailed for saying it was a Terrorist event" No they weren't, they were jailed for violent acts and/or incitment.

The trial hasn't been rescheduled. There will be no trial. He will be sentenced on Thursday. More information will come out then.

Possession of Al Qaeda terror handbook is a crime, maybe downloading info on IRA isn't, hence not charged on that particular action.
