Is it really that wrong to want for your country what Trump stands for?

1000 replies

Anniedash · 20/01/2025 06:51

I know that there are plenty of threads on Trump at the moment, but most of them are designed to rubbish the guy. That’s been done to death in the last 10 years.

He has still won two presidential elections so perhaps it’s time to move the discussion on a bit.Let’s put aside Trump’s personality, bluster, and whether he will deliver or not, for a second.

Is it really so wrong and bad to want to go for what his core message is? Why is the far right label used so liberally and will we ever see a government in this country which can tackle this madness -

A stop to or huge reduction in illegal immigration

Putting your own country first ahead of internationalism. It’s not a novel idea and certainly not a byword for automatically wanting war. In fact Trump’s argument is that war is bad

Saying no the climate hysteria. Climate change is real but climate emergency seems to be a made up concept to simply tax people to death to re distribute taxes to government lobbyists. Why should people accept being poorer in the name of this dangerous ideology

Putting a stop to woke madness. When did it become ok for state sponsored mutilation of children? Men pretending to be women in prison and hospitals getting access to women’s spaces. People being sanctioned do not using the correct pronouns

Driving the economy forward and putting a stop to endless freebies for those who have no intention of contributing to the system and refuse to work because they are sad.

The fact that someone as eccentric as Trump has to fly the flag for common sense ideas shows you just how batshit the political discourse has become.

@Justhere65

I'm not a trump fan but he's standing there dancing to Ymca😂🎶.
Melania nodding along yes trumpet, this is your best song isn't it.

Some people are just so bloody miserable. At least trump seems to enjoy life like Boris did.

Starmer seems extremely angry with life and no fun at all.

I don't feel starmer likes our country either.

Banyon · 21/01/2025 20:24

Starmer & Co must be feeling relief that all eyes are OFF of Labour Party for next short while.
Trump providing a distraction from KS & his clowns.

Crikeyalmighty · 21/01/2025 20:24

Unfortunately by voting for what they think is democracy the voters have voted in a regime that will be very undemocratic- the big media people including social media will be too frightened of their empires being cancelled to 'call him out' indeed twats like Musk are in the regime.

The problem is there is a big balance in the middle between a regime focussed on purely business and money making principles and survival of the fittest, making rich people richer and being totally the opposite and it all being about joy and love and 'anything goes' ideology and the US seems to be struggling with a 'middle ground' given their 2 party system. I thought both candidates were awful

I despise Trump, the fact he's a proven lying crook and caused and encouraged an insurgency should have disqualified him immediately and to be honest says a lot about the current Republican Party- anyone half decent has got out- however I think Harris was a poor opponent- she's not a great speaker, seemed fairly absent in Bidens regime and based it all on 'I'm not Trump' rather than actual policies of sorting shit out- That's not great either and the Democrats need to accept she was a poor choice.

Personally I'm fed up of the he/she/they stuff - I don't agree with prejudice as such but it has been dominating agendas far too much - so I'm actually with Trump on that one to some extent but it's about the only thing- lots of his other things are batshit- and if he's as successful as he was last time then it will all just be hot air

Whoever can think it's perfectly ok to go round pardoning the kind of people he has done -? What next , moving elections to every 10 years etc??

SomethingSScintillating · 21/01/2025 20:26

@RavenhairedRachel quite re boat loads, 1000 this week apparently coming and we just don't know who they are or what they want.

It's utter Maddness and he stands there saying it's a threat.
But what he wants to do is use that to censor sm.

Crikeyalmighty · 21/01/2025 20:27

@SomethingSScintillating that's a bit of a low bar isn't it? I wasn't aware to be PM you needed to be the class clown but it's ok so long as you are entertaining people. It may be Starmer is angry because he's serious person and there's a lot he's been handed over to be very angry about indeed .

SomethingSScintillating · 21/01/2025 20:27

Apparently one of trumps best rally lines was of karmela "she's for them and they, I'm for YOU"

SomethingSScintillating · 21/01/2025 20:29

Difference between class clown and just being happy and grateful?

I guess both trump and Boris nearly lost their lives which puts it into perspective?

MatronPomfrey · 21/01/2025 20:34

I’d have voted for him just to get men out of women’s prisons and refuges. The most vulnerable women that couldn’t opt out were put at most risk.

Crikeyalmighty · 21/01/2025 20:35

@SomethingSScintillating of course he's greatful, it's kept him out of prison and Johnson certainly wasn't near to losing his life-

What about the women/teens dying during pregnancy? They aren't vulnerable?

You'd vote for a rapist because you believe he'll help women?

Thefsm · 21/01/2025 20:55

State sponsored mutilation of children - ok J K Rowling. You are absolutely unreasonable. No human is illegal, mutual human decency and respect is not being woke and climate situation is an emergency.

i wish trump was going to be ruining your life for the next four years instead of mine and my loved ones.

TeabySea · 21/01/2025 20:57

RingoJuice · 21/01/2025 19:59

Native Americans did not build the country you know as America. HTH.

I didn't say they did.
I was talking about immigration.
The country we know as America managed perfectly well before white people colonised it, and destroyed the way of life in the name of progress. Ditto pretty much anywhere else.

JHound · 21/01/2025 18:18

So, immigrants then.

(And to give all the credit to European immigrants and ignore all the backbreaking labour “provided” by traficked Africans and then later waves of migrants is laughable.)

You need to be more precise in your racism. Try English pilgrims. White to be precise. Got it, now continue in your uneducated rambling...

keffie12 · 21/01/2025 21:11

Let's start with the man being a proven felon, a sex pest, a man who has bankrupted companies, a man who is only not being charged with capital riots on Jan 6th cos he has won tre presidency.

A man who invited age riots, which killed people, including a police officer, and wanted his vice president hung.

His policies are for the right to get richer and not as sold for the working man. They will make them worse off

Like Brexit, all sold on lies. The man is vile, and no, i don't want someone like that running the largest economy in the world.

Neither do the majotity of Americans want it either

LalaPaloosa2024 · 21/01/2025 21:11

I’m with you OP. Had a conversation just this morning with a couple of parents after school drop off and we are all pro-Trump.

I know of 4 families leaving the UK thanks to Labour’s policies. More will follow.

This socialist government will end up making the UK a third world country. It’s about time things swung to the right again.

Crikeyalmighty · 21/01/2025 21:12

I'm afraid for many women on here itsall about the one topic of women's spaces etc- now I'm pro that too but it simply doesn't 'Trump' all the other crap he's coming out with and the fact he himself is more than happy to use women for his own ends , is an utter crook and is going to try and silence anyone not supporting him including the media.

Anyone who wants to leave should head off as Remain supporters were repeatedly told before and after the Brexit vote. Bye bye!

For federal refuges and prisons maybe - but if not federal level / if private - what power does he have to enforce any changes?

"Hope for what?"

Hope to stop the slow managed decline of both western economies and societies.

Did you notice Biden pardoned hie entire family and others not just for crimes they may have committed but for all future crimes they may commit too minutes before his presidency ended. Theoretically any of his family or those pardoned for any future crimes could commit mass murder and could not be charged. Or is that OK because he's Biden?

Which was criticised - but this was protection for his son from politically motivated prosecution - 1 person, vs. the release of 1,500 actually violent criminals some if who attacked police officers during their rapage.

Are those equal do you think?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 21/01/2025 21:22

HuckleberryBlackcurrant · 21/01/2025 19:32

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross

Strip them of ALL rights? A little.... hyperbolic, wouldn't you say?

It's taking away an extra 'right' that women have that men don't - the ability to hire someone to murder their unborn child.

Edited

Oh, the absolute irony of you describing my post as hyperbolic 🤦🏻‍♀️

In all seriousness, do educate yourself on the physical and emotional cost to American women and girls of the overturning of Roe vs Wade before embarrassing yourself with your own hyperbole.
