I'm quite looking forward to this. And wondered if anyone else was. I don't expect so but thought I would ask anyway!

I’m vaccine injured. How do you feel about me?

Having an anti vaxxer with no scientific, medical or virologist skills or knowledge isn’t going to help anyone.

Pumpkinpie1 · 18/01/2025 18:38

Cant believe the gullibility of American voters

Inauguration ceremonies are pretty dull affairs generally so seems an odd thing to be excited about but you do you. Unless of course you’re just trying to kick off yet another goady Trump thread, which is a pretty dull thing to do with your time too.

Edited

Trump supporters only get their kicks from goading and upsetting people which is why this thread was written, to goad and upset people, and keep that feeling going.

You can't be a Trump supporter and be a kind, good person, unless you're taking in so much echo chamber lies about Trump (which is more than possible, I suppose) that you don't even hear or know the bad stuff, like...

...child deportations last time round. I'll never forget that audio of the child in the deportation centre played outside a courtroom once. A lot of people including kids are going to have to suffer now.

As for winning democratically, well that doesn't mean it was a good decision does it. I remember a short Austrian bloke bring voted in democratically in the 1930s in Germany and that didn't go so well did it?

PeppyGreenFinch · 18/01/2025 19:00

That fucker cost me money every time I had to take my devices abroad on airlines.

Him and his family are scum.

I'm surprised that any woman has any truck with the narrative of caring. Under the cloak of caring women have seen their rights eroded, the definition of their sex eroded, their sporting achievements eroded, their privacy eroded. Women have been disenfranchised at the alter of #Be Kind.

So, personally, I could not give a flying fuck about how Trump feels and if he cares about women or not. I care about what he does and what that actually achieves for women.

And yes, that could go either way with Trump. But I don't give a damn if one political figure cries a river about the misogyny dished out to women day- in and day-out if all they can achieve for women at work is yet another kicking.

Edited

Or to be sexually assaulted or raped or they have to endure intimidation and threats as they do their jobs. Like what Donald Trump does to them.

Not all misogynists wear a dress.

ThejoyofNC · 18/01/2025 09:12

Absolutely, but everyone on here hates him so good luck. He's going to be a fantastic president.

You have amnesia?! The man's an idiot and only gets worse with age.

BitOutOfPractice · 18/01/2025 19:43

In what way “looking forward”?

😂😂😂😂😂😂 Jealous wept. Well enjoy him, because it seems he’s intending to get rid of any future elections…

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/01/2025 19:48

WhatTheFuckIsThisNow · 18/01/2025 16:54

Trump doesn't care about women's spaces any more than he cares about our fundamental rights, for example, our right not to be raped or grabbed by the (I can't even type the word, ugh).

He really doesn't. He bragged about walking into the Miss World dressing rooms unannounced and no one could say anything.

Most misogynists don't wear dresses.

Applecharm25 · 18/01/2025 20:41

Trump has no respect for women.

The world has no respect for women.

That's why he was voted in

Shoezembagsforever · 18/01/2025 20:41

midgetastic · 18/01/2025 12:08

No the EU isn't getting it wrong and growth is growth - now you want more growth .. never satisfied - why? The US doesn't do anything good with it anyway

there is much more than "growth" as a measure of success

Like the health of its citizens
The happiness of its citizens
The survival of its citizens

I agree - Japan didn't have any growth for years and its citizens were apparently very content. Probably because unrealistic work targets started to relax.

maxplanck · 18/01/2025 21:07

Anniedash · 18/01/2025 09:41

Trump was previously and will be far better for the US than than what Europe and UK has.

The Americans can look toward to something good while we have had and will continue to have a tanking economy, uncontrolled borders and unlimited immigration, out of control state spending, millions choosing not to work and an ever shrinking number of people supporting them, state sponsored mitigation of children in the name of trans rights, men in women’s spaces and gaslighting by the corrupt incompetent government.

Hard agree. All those things have happened under the tories so hopefully things will change now. They’ve already deported 20% more foreign criminals than the tories did if you’re interested in those things.

maxplanck · 18/01/2025 21:10

derxa · 18/01/2025 18:01

I’m vaccine injured. How do you feel about me?

I was injured by Covid. The jab stopped me from catching it again. So what ?

HardenYourHeart · 18/01/2025 21:21

This needs to happen. People have short memories. Last time they were so desperate to get rid of Trump that they went with an old, average, white guy because they thought that would be a "safe" choice. The fact that in incompetent idiot was once again able to win elections from a highly skilled, highly experienced, intelligent woman, says something about the times we live an and about the US.

But let's face it, the US is hardly the first country where shit like this is happening. We have been taking our freedom and stability for granted. Things need to get a lot worse, before we will wake up again.

MakeYourOwnMusicStartYourOwnDance · 18/01/2025 21:25

EnjoyingTheSilence · 18/01/2025 09:26

Exactly how is he going to be a great president? If you’re rich, white and male maybe. But women’s right, forget it. Poor people, will just bet poorer. Non white people, more abuse.

I think it’s an absolute disaster, what was once a wonderful country has been absolutely trashed.

This.

DonaldJohnTrump · 18/01/2025 21:27

JHound · 18/01/2025 21:28

I cannot imagine ever caring about watching a presidential inauguration ceremony.

Unless you’re a Yank.

I watched parts of Obama’s because:

  1. It was a historical event
  2. I happened to be in NYC at the time and my cousins were watching it and I was with them.

But you do you.

But shouldn't your name be John Barron?

@ilovesooty I don't know what mnhq can do it's just painful, see how political this thread has got merely because someone dared to say they will watch the inauguration. I think everyone should watch it because it's a historical moment.

Unfortunately some people can't see things normally they walk around with particular specs on and see absolutely everything in that particular way and it could be politics or anything that can attract extreme thoughts.

But this isn't a political forum, it's a general chat forum that will attract current affairs and comments which is fine but to have a left wing group who want to educate us all set up on here flooding any thread that is remotely political is tiresome and in appropriate.

Are you saying that there are orchestrated responses

I'm not particularly left or right wing. I'm a normal, old fat woman who has been on Mumsnet for a long time

That orange maniac is a danger. And people who cheerlead for him are, in my view, thick

HTH

GetOnro · 18/01/2025 21:37

What good things did Joe Biden do in office that directly made the lives of US citizen better? I can't remember a single thing

JanuaryBluehoo · 18/01/2025 21:41

@wholettheturnipsburn

It just boring if people are looking out for threads to jump on to "re educate" people.

The op and not many others have said they adore trump. Looking forward to watching something doesn't mean much, it's a very historical occasion and at the moment in time a sensitive one.

It's a bit like people who don't support the monarchy watching the coronation and enjoying it.

If someone said they were watching Charles being crowned and I was a staunch Republican I wouldn't jump down people's throats about how outdated the monarchy is.

I wouldn't assume I know why they are watching it.

mistymorning12 · 18/01/2025 21:44

I wonder how orange he’ll be.

MoodySky · 18/01/2025 21:46

Why anyone is interested in this I have no idea.

I'd be more interested in watching inaugurations of presidents in China or Brazil than the US.

abracadabra1980 · 18/01/2025 21:47

@Viviennemary unfortunately you will get clobbered for your leaning on here, however
forum = /ˈfɔːrəm/

noun

a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged so take no notice of those trying to nitpick.

Why is it a historic moment? It happens every 4 years. Unless you mean it’s the first time a criminal has been the focus?
