I'm quite looking forward to this. And wondered if anyone else was. I don't expect so but thought I would ask anyway!

I won't be watching it. Trump disgusts me and I don't care for ceremonial occasions anyway.

Applecharm25 · 18/01/2025 15:46

Ugh I hate trump.

I really do.

His big minging orange head.

I feel like the whole world gets nastier when he is in power. He draws out all of the fanatics.

Vannymcvan · 18/01/2025 15:48

He's evil. I can't understand how a person can't see that. It won't end well, unless you're a rich, white man.

hedgehogsinthehedgerow · 18/01/2025 15:57

I'm looking forward to it, I love a state occasion. Mostly though I'm looking forward to seeing how the Republican Party and America's checks and balances hold up in the coming 4 years.

That's if there's another election in 4 years. I doubt it personally.

Don Jr is a muppet. Who takes him seriously fgs? His day trip to Greenland was hilarious - like a TikTok. The scene of him in the cockpit with some weird plastic figurine of Trump dressed as a superhero with a gun on the dashboard as the plane landed. You couldn't make it up! Then he paid a few stooges to wear MAGA hats. Then he went home. Fool.

Many leaders have invaded other countries.

This is trumps last turn in office.

He doesn't need to win popularity to get elected again..

I think he will be extra bad this time.

catcafeatno10 · 18/01/2025 16:01

And Eric's wife who thinks she can sing and takes to the stage at the slightest opportunity - that's also worth a watch on YouTube. There are no words...

They do see that he's evil. And they want him as president as they are evil too.

The dark side has won.

For now..

History always repeats itself. By his fourth year people will be fed up of him and people like him, and they will vote in someone more sensible. It keeps happening in cycles in America.

Then they'll get fed up of the kinder sensible person.

And vote in someone more radical and nationalistic again.

The economy was actually good under Trump until COVID came. US Unemployment was at an all time low.

Fun fact. Trump inherited low unemployment from Obama and it's now even lower.

He's a power hungry maniac and surrounded himself by nasty, mostly educated right wingers. I always watch the inaugurations. I'm surprised they're not indoors more often, the weather always looks bitter in Washington.

Because as I’m sure you know it has always been outdoors so rhe people can witness the inauguration. Of course he pulled this one indoors so he doesn’t have to deal with the huge protests, the underwhelming amount of people there to support him and Trump incorrectly inflating numbers and controlling rhe tv coverage.

As Trump supporters conveniently forget he is only four years younger than Biden and in his late 70’s.

As for Melania - she has her 'Be Best' charity or whatever it is. It was obviously meant to be 'Be the Best' or 'Be Your Best' but she is surrounded by such sycophants none of them had the courage to tell her (obviously English is not her first language). So now she knows the mistake, but it just has to carry on as 'Be Best.'

Americano75 · 18/01/2025 16:19

Another 4 years of these vile cunts.

Jesus.

I quite like’Be Best’.

@Salacia

They want to stop men, from competing in women's sports, invading female spaces and I'd say, with Trump in mind that's quite critical and is protecting women's spaces

Trump doesn't care about women's spaces any more than he cares about our fundamental rights, for example, our right not to be raped or grabbed by the (I can't even type the word, ugh).

WhatTheFuckIsThisNow · 18/01/2025 16:57

it's just painful, see how political this thread has got

A thread about a political event, getting political? Incredible, who’da thunk it!

I'm not a Trump supporter but this thing with this sort of comment is that many people voted for him not because they actually like him, but they see the alternative in their country and it isn't pretty.

If my only options were Harris or Trump he'd have had my vote. And we vowed to never return to the USA when he became president last time round even though we have close family there. Surely stopping the bombing in Gaza is a good thing already?

How is he stopping the bombing though? This is the deal that was on the table in March. Trump has Israels back unconditionally.

Applecharm25 · 18/01/2025 17:05

God I'm sick of trump

It feels like we are taking a step back.

Israel spokesperson said it wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t joined agreements

Said it was a bit like you’ll do this no choice

Trump was previously and will be far better for the US than than what Europe and UK has.

The Americans can look toward to something good while we have had and will continue to have a tanking economy, uncontrolled borders and unlimited immigration, out of control state spending, millions choosing not to work and an ever shrinking number of people supporting them, state sponsored mitigation of children in the name of trans rights, men in women’s spaces and gaslighting by the corrupt incompetent government.

I found your post very difficult to read. I did persist however and it's just so wrong that I really don't know where to start.

ByMerryKoala · 18/01/2025 17:17

I'm surprised that any woman has any truck with the narrative of caring. Under the cloak of caring women have seen their rights eroded, the definition of their sex eroded, their sporting achievements eroded, their privacy eroded. Women have been disenfranchised at the alter of #Be Kind.

So, personally, I could not give a flying fuck about how Trump feels and if he cares about women or not. I care about what he does and what that actually achieves for women.

And yes, that could go either way with Trump. But I don't give a damn if one political figure cries a river about the misogyny dished out to women day- in and day-out if all they can achieve for women at work is yet another kicking.

Well personally, I really hope it means we’re forced to eventually scrap Net Zero by 2030 and that we’re ‘encouraged’ to manage our borders a bit better. One can hope.

We can't do both. Failing to address climate change will undoubtedly lead to (among much else) uncontrollable mass immigration, as an increasing number of places in the world become unliveable.

ToWhitToWhoo · 18/01/2025 17:59

Apart from all the other ways in which Trump is a menace, he has appointed an anti-vaxxer, anti-most-modern-medicine person as his Health Secretary.

It's as though a British Prime Minister made Piers Corbyn Health Secretary,

And viruses know no borders, so this may endanger the whole world if godforbid there's another pandemic.

It is a shame they have moved it indoors. Standing around in the freezing cold might have seen him off.

It's said to have done just that to 19th century President Harrison, who died after less than a month in office (though in those days it was rarely possible to prove exactly what someone died of).
