I'm late in cooking it, but tonight is harissa lamb with chickpeas and aubergines. Rice and yoghurt on the side. I wanted a chocolatey dessert but some of my fruit is on the turn and needs eating so that will be dessert.

Pickled21 · 17/01/2025 17:36

Lamb biriyani and a mint raita. There will be enough leftovers tomorrow so neither of us will need to cook. Yesterday was tuscan chicken.

JBJ · 17/01/2025 17:45

I made some leek and potato soup earlier, so just had that with some toast for dinner. Still very limited what I can stomach after norovirus!

Sacredhandbag · 17/01/2025 17:50

Tortellini in a creamy pesto sauce with sun-dried tomatoes
Roasted asparagus on the side
Homemade garlic bread

Yum yum yum, one of my favourites and really easy 😋

Lemony salmon orzo from the kitchen sanctuary website and quick meals book.
I love all of Nicky's recipes, they are always so tasty and never go wrong. My two favourite cook books

No tea here, but spinach and ricotta quiche with salad for dinner.

ThejoyofNC · 17/01/2025 18:02

I thought it was illegal to cook on a Friday? I'll be browsing just eat shortly for inspiration, then swiftly ringing the restaurant and ordering directly from them as it's much cheaper than ordering through just eat.

Meadowfinch · 17/01/2025 18:05

DS is having pizza & garlic bread, and I'm having hake cooked with spinach and cannellini beans.

Then fresh pineapple & cream

We're having Jambalaya tonight. Other favourites include: The Hairy Bikers sausage casserole, chilli, Goan fish curry, lasagna, bolognese, fajitas, burritos, enchiladas, paella, butternut squash and chorizo risotto, paprika sausage pasta, lamb kebabs with Greek salad, flatbread, and tzatsiki.

Great menu - that’s the rest of Jan sorted 🙌👌

@mandarinchocolate is this an M&S meal deal? I only ask because it's exactly what we had last night.
Minus the homemade bread, you're doing better than me this week 🤣🤣

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 17/01/2025 18:21

We've just had tomatoey lentils with caramelised onions, tender stem broccoli and honeyed halloumi on top.

MajorCarolDanvers · 17/01/2025 18:46

Steak with greens and honey roast parsnips

This sounds yum! Do you have a recipe please?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/01/2025 19:09

I've made chicken soup the last few nights. Can't get enough. Browned chicken legs, added tonnes of chopped fresh ginger and onion and cooked down, added water and simmered about an hour then added baby carrots, simmered another half hour. Just seasoned with salt. Served with chopped cilantro in the bowl. First night added ramen noodles. Second night served with crusty bread. Last night served with sourdough.

89redballoons · 17/01/2025 19:18

Tuna pasta bake - wholemeal pasta, red pepper and onions roasted and blended with passata (becuase of fussy 5 yo), with tuna added and then baked with mozzarella on top. Served with rocket salad.

This looks lovely, fairly healthy, and my kids would probably like it too - I will bear this in mind for next week!

Is it really!? No, all homemade.
Was the M&S meal good?

Not tried that one but have done lots of her recipes. I love that the method tells you how much of each ingredient you need to use for that stage instead of having to scroll back cup to the ingredients and back again. They have all been really good.

@Pickled21 I made Tuscan Chicken last week after seeing it as one of the top 10 recipes viewed on BBC good food website. Wow, delicious, enjoyed by all and one to make again.

Sacredhandbag · 18/01/2025 13:28

For tonight I've done my "weekend soup" which consists of all the leftover veg from the week (which is usually random bits as I buy the £1.50 Lidl veg boxes) roasted in the oven then blended. With some veggie stock.
Today it's a lot of red peppers, half a carrot, half a red onion and three whole heads of garlic. Will possibly add a tin of tomatoes.
Yum, can't wait. Will use up the week's bread to go with it

TheChosenTwo · 18/01/2025 13:32

Probably steak, we usually have steak on a Friday but I was out last night and dh ordered himself and the dc that were home a takeaway!
So steak, sautéed potatoes, goats cheese stuffed flat mushroom and whatever greens Dh picks up. One of the dc won’t eat steak, they will have prawns instead.
dd made cupcakes yesterday so one of those if anyone wants pudding.

murasaki · 18/01/2025 15:43

Tonight is lasagna, I really need to get on with it.

Tomorrow is Ottolenghi's shoulder of lamb with boulangere potatoes, the leftovers will be made into moussaka as we spice it differently to his recipe for precisely this purpose.

We will be fat.

I’m so jealous. I had left over mashed potato in sandwiches and a slice of birthday cake, despite the fact it’s nobody’s birthday.

Edited

I love a mash potato sandwich.😋
