DD was off the week before school due to the flu so missed out on her Christmas bag. She was given it on Friday she took everything out the bag on Friday and it was in here. I’m guessing it’s just a mistake! Would you say anything or just leave it.

How is 'pack Santa a bowl' a normal American term 🤣

I was referring to the screw

Tbh I innocently missed the pack a bowl so I guess children wouldn't understand it either :)

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 13/01/2025 11:28

If you're going to pack Santa a bowl, he'll probably want the milk and cookies too.

I think it's amazing and I would keep the sticker forever.

shoofly · 13/01/2025 11:33

tilypu · 13/01/2025 08:13

Found it in a pack of fifty mostly innocent looking stickers on Amazon

But in the back you can also see the words 'stoner man'

It's actually in that pack 3rd in from top left

ThatsNotMyTeen · 13/01/2025 11:35

Oh my god this is hilarious 😆

yes I’d let the teacher know just in a kindly “fyi” way

CoolPlayer · 13/01/2025 11:49

I would mention it but I wouldn’t make a big deal out of it! Maybe a pack of stickers and no idea some unsuitable ones was amongst them at a busy time of year, I’m sure they will check forever after seeing this one lol x

I know. That's why I said I found it in the pack...

It looks like some Temu crap.
A teacher once gave my DD a card with a picture of and angel on the front and the words The Angle Gabriel.

Was the teacher a maths teacher?

Maliotopolo · 13/01/2025 12:00

Aw I wouldn’t mention. She obvs got a load of stickers off temu and just did her best at the end of term not realising. If you tell her she’ll just be worrying that she’s going to be facing some sort of disciplinary action if any others are returned. It was a kind thought but as they say, no good deed goes unpunished 😂

What's a Christmas bag? Do teachers give children gifts?

My kids teachers give them a small gift at Christmas - just one of the many things they do in their own time, with their own money to care for and value the kids they teach.

@Luckymum94 I’d let her know but use humour, she’ll have done it with her eyes closed at a busy time of year.

I didn't know what a "Christmas bag" was either. I assumed it was some American thing. Is this in the UK.

What do teachers do about Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, Sikh etc kids?

(I't's a serious question. I'm the least politically correct person you could ever meet but I'd have thought the parents of some kids could legitimately find it offensive)

I also didn't know what "Pack a bowl" meant

Am I being dense? What does pack Santa a bowl even mean?

I’m with you, obviously I’m behind with the times because I haven’t a clue what it’s referring to either, help us out someone!

WeCanOnlyDoOurBest · 13/01/2025 12:08

garciacherry · 13/01/2025 08:15

Umm no it would not be OK for early teens to receive this from a teacher! WTF?

Exactly! It’s inappropriate regard age

When you look more closely it's an imprecation to offer Santa a bowl of cannabis and a hookah rather than milk and cookies.

Classic Temu.

I ordered little squishy animals from Temu for primary school party bags. All individually wrapped. Thank god I decided to check each one when filling the party bags, as of them was a squishy cartoon penis.

I've seen those!!! I would be howling if my daughter got one in a party bag.

I'm pretty sure they started out as gag gifts for hen nights or stag dos and then the keywords or algorithm mixed them into the squishy toys for children.

Tahlbias · 13/01/2025 12:19

We are not allowed to give the children anything. The parents are also discouraged to buy for the teachers.

Sparkleandglitter · 13/01/2025 12:28

I made a similar mistake when I was teaching in the UAE.
I bought several multipacks of mini handcreams and lip balms/lipglosses as little prizes for good work.
I was happily handing them out when one of my students asked what a ‘gold digga’ was. It turns out that some of the lipglosses had questionable shade names and I just hadn’t thought to check 🤦🏻‍♀️. Luckily there was nothing too outrageous!

It’s an easy mistake to make when you’re busy. Annoyingly places like Amazon often add loads of keywords even when they’re not appropriate. I’ve searched for ‘kids reward stickers’ or ‘child party stickers’ before and been suggested multipacks that have some designs that aren’t really suitable.

TinyR3bel · 13/01/2025 12:30

Packing a bowl is packing a bong with weed to smoke.

WearyAuldWumman · 13/01/2025 12:38

BeyondMyWits · 13/01/2025 08:00

In an envelope with a note "don't think you meant to give us this one 🙂", give back to teacher.

That way, you've let them know there was something unsuitable, to check stuff they give out, without making it a big deal. They'll be mortified, they'll double check in future.

Yup. Retired teacher here. I'd want to know that I'd made this mistake.

FrodisCapering · 13/01/2025 12:55

If the teacher took the trouble to make a Christmas bag for each child, at the end of a long and exhausting term, they sound absolutely lovely.

Have a quick word, with a smile on your face, and please stress that you won't be telling anyone else. The teacher will be terrified of being reported to SLT. They need to know so they are more careful in future, but that's not. Not a big deal.

My first reaction was is English the teacher's first language?

I can see being confused about the bowl reference but 'screw' - it's weird that made it through.

I have a feeling she asked someone to help her with this who wasn't very careful.

I'd do the envelope thing too.

Probably most of the parents just binned it...

That reminds me of the time I nearly sent out a programme for the Christmas carol concert with an embarrassing typo. Gabriel's Message had somehow become Gabriel's Massage. 😳☺️

My late OH gave his class a list of spellings to learn over the weekend, one of the was supposed to be 'important' but his typo was 'impotant'! The Head, whose daughter was in OH's class, thought it was hilarious, no-one else seemed to notice.

Gold digger might have been the least of your concerns
Assume lip balms etc didn’t have pork gelatin 😳 🤞

WonderingWanda · 13/01/2025 13:18

I ordered a big bundle of stickers for my dd once, I think from amazon. Most were quite sweet little emoji's and inspirational quotes but there were a couple fo questionable ones thrown in. My guess is the teacher did similar and didn't check them.

mrsmilesmatheson · 13/01/2025 13:21

As a parent, I'd just laugh about this. No harm done and very unlikely to have been done deliberately.

As a teacher, I'd be grateful for you telling me (in a nice, non complaining way our of earshot of anyone else) so that I can double check next time. Mainly because some parents love any reason to kick off.

PassingStranger · 13/01/2025 13:24

Yes op go down the school asap, have it out with her and get her the sack.🙄
