DD was off the week before school due to the flu so missed out on her Christmas bag. She was given it on Friday she took everything out the bag on Friday and it was in here. I’m guessing it’s just a mistake! Would you say anything or just leave it.

Only reason I'd tell her is to give her a heads up. If she does a similar thing for Easter she might want to check where she gets her stickers from.

tilypu · 13/01/2025 08:13

Found it in a pack of fifty mostly innocent looking stickers on Amazon

But in the back you can also see the words 'stoner man'

He appears to be holding a bong. It's a reference to packing the bowl of the bong with weed.

Thanks so much. Feeling a bit like my mother in law who is permanently slightly bemused at modern life😁

Bromptotoo · 13/01/2025 08:13

I had to Google the image to make sense of it.

As others say I suspect a variety pack of stickers combined with a lack of observation.

Age of child is a factor too. Agree it's not Primary appropriate, and that Xmas bags are probably a youngsters' thing, but by early teens I'd say it was OK.

comedycentral · 13/01/2025 08:13

Oh gosh, yes they clearly purchased a sticker bundle and didn't realise. The hearts in the right place. I would send it back to her with a friendly note, she will be mortified. She does need to know though.

garciacherry · 13/01/2025 08:14

If this is real then yes the teacher has obviously just bought a pack of Christmas stickers and given one to each child.

You do need to raise it with the teacher. Although it's nice of the teacher to give gifts, and I'm sure very appreciated, this is really inappropriate and it could have said anything - could have been even more offensive, could have been political etc - they need to check or they may do the same again.

Umm no it would not be OK for early teens to receive this from a teacher! WTF?

Am I being dense? What does pack Santa a bowl even mean?

That was my take. I had to Google it and see the full size image at which point the cannabis related.

My first thought was that what's actually a hookah was a sex toy!!

saraclara · 13/01/2025 08:16

As a teacher I'd have appreciated the return of the sticker with the lightly humorous note. Parents who approach a genuine error with empathy and good humour are worth their weight in gold.

I agree - if anything it would be worse for a kid that might know what they were talking about to receive it!

User678843 · 13/01/2025 08:18

It's almost certainly a cheap sticker pack from Temu or Amazon! A teacher made a Tiktok recently on how she almost ended up giving her students stickers that had something similarly inappropriate on them. The problem is that many of the imagery are just sourced online and even the people making the stickers (somewhere in China) have no idea what it means.

To be fair, I think it's a lovely gesture from teachers who don't earn much themselves to buy gifts for their students. Most will go for the cheapest places like discount stores or Temu. I would definitely give them a pass for the mistake.

I wouldn't even return it tbh. It's making too much of a fuss over what was certainly not intentional. It's also not even that offensive. A joke about marijuana, big deal. Just take it away from your daughter and bin it.

SereneCapybara · 13/01/2025 08:19

Maybe post it in an envelope back to the teacher and say, 'Guess this was a mistake!' I can't believe there aren't age appropriate Christmas sticker sets for teachers to hand out.

DUsername · 13/01/2025 08:19

Bloody hell, way worse for a teen to get it!! At least a primary age kid would have likely have no idea what it meant

whatwouldyoudoifisangoutofkey · 13/01/2025 08:20

Dear lord don't teachers have enough to do and buy without giving Christmas bags !!!!!

In an envelope with a note "don't think you meant to give us this one 🙂", give back to teacher.

That way, you've let them know there was something unsuitable, to check stuff they give out, without making it a big deal. They'll be mortified, they'll double check in future.

Get you and your reasonable adult behaviour!

There's no drama in just letting the teacher know he/she made a mistake and moving on.

This
It was obviously a genuine mistake at what was probably a very busy time. The teacher will no doubt be very grateful for the heads-up though.

4forksache · 13/01/2025 08:25

Laugh it off together. She’ll be so appreciative you’ve been nice about it.

HoraceCope · 13/01/2025 08:26

i would do nothing

HoraceCope · 13/01/2025 08:27

i guess on reflection you should tell her in case she buys these again

Lwrenn · 13/01/2025 08:27

How kind of the teacher to make up gifts. Obviously this was an autopilot mistake. If you bring it up just make sure the teacher knows you’re giving them a heads up, not planning to make their life difficult.

desperatedaysareover · 13/01/2025 08:31

Guffaw

it now makes sense, always wondered how he could eat a million mince pies in one night.

IKnewYouWereTrouble · 13/01/2025 08:34

😆
MN needs to pin this post on all the “What to buy the teachers end of term gifts” threads 🤣

Finally a teacher who knows what they want, and is obviously sick of all the mugs and pens!

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 13/01/2025 08:37

I'd leave it personally.

Custardslices · 13/01/2025 08:38

If your daughter brought this into school the teacher would create merry hell and question your parenting

Teacher does it, quiet word and trust them completely. Bizzare

TinyR3bel · 13/01/2025 08:41

I’d just laugh if off. What’s to say she didn’t have a child helping her make the bags and didn’t realise. Not all adults have been around drugs, you can’t even assume she knows what it means.
