DD was off the week before school due to the flu so missed out on her Christmas bag. She was given it on Friday she took everything out the bag on Friday and it was in here. I’m guessing it’s just a mistake! Would you say anything or just leave it.

This is brilliant Grin

downhere · 13/01/2025 09:45

Agree you should mention it but just in a light way, so that they are more careful in the future. I bet they'll be really embarrassed!

Am I being dense? What does pack Santa a bowl even mean?

I wouldn’t have known what ‘pack a bowl’ means, either.
I’d really have an issue with ‘milk and cookies’ though! A pernicious American custom that should sod right off back across the pond where it belongs. In the U.K. Santa/FC expects a tot of something warming and a mince pie. Who on earth wants cold milk on a freezing midwinter night?

leafybrew · 13/01/2025 09:51

Thanks Op - gave me a good laugh 😀😀I’d leave it… see what happens at Easter 🥴

NotAPartyPerson · 13/01/2025 09:51

Obviously a mistake but I'd tell the teacher so they know to check more carefully next year! I'd want to know if I was the teacher!

AnonymousBleep · 13/01/2025 09:52

I'd say something to the teacher - I bet they'll be mortified.

Pack Santa a bowl of what?

Drugs.

StrawberryDream24 · 13/01/2025 09:55

Yeah if I was the teacher, I'd want to know that Amazon stickers may have inappropriate ones and they need checked ....what if she gives one to the child of some very conservative parent, she could get in trouble.

SleeplikeababyTonight · 13/01/2025 09:55

It is inappropriate, but I would put a bet on it that this has got in there by mistake. It was nice of the teacher to get the children a Christmas bag, he/she will have used their own money; they don't get paid nearly enough for the job they do. Don't complain until you know for sure. Could you ask another parent to see if the same thing was in their child's bag op?

My mum had her birthday party at my sister in law’s house yesterday (I couldn’t go as I was working) and in the afternoon there was an ice cream van doing the rounds! The high for our area was about 3 degrees 😂

Crapdoor · 13/01/2025 09:56

Totally misses the point of the thread

I don't get it. What does give santa a bowl mean? I assume it's inappropriate because of waterside (I think) or is it something else?

LambriniBobInIsleworthISeesYa · 13/01/2025 08:11

Meh. It's not hardcore super sex is it. And the teacher hasn't actually included a joint in the goodie bag. It's clearly a mistake; I wouldn't say anything because it would be really embarrassing for the teacher and because no harm has been done.

I wouldn’t either.

Why would you say anything only to feel smug? It’s clearly a mistake. Grow up.

BigSilly · 13/01/2025 09:57

I would just say nothing. It's too OK ate now and you will just embarrass a teacher who has spent their time and money buying gifts for 30 kids.

kittensinthekitchen · 13/01/2025 09:58

I always find it infuriating the number of people who have the Internet at their fingertips, yet still post "i don't know what X means/is" and don't just bloody Google it.

The picture of a smoking bong doesn't give you a clue?

I'm in Northern Ireland and people eat ice cream at the coast even if it's 0 degrees with gale force Arctic winds.

You're at the seaside, therefore you are eating ice cream.

SleeplikeababyTonight · 13/01/2025 09:58

And tell your dc that it is a joke meaning a bowl of sweets/or different snacks, as he gets sick of all of the milk and cookies. Doubt your dc would notice the smoking, just say that explanation and whip it away. If they notice, just say it is a lollypop with sherbet.

Some people have managed to not encounter marijuana smoking paraphernalia ..... How, I don't know but ...

When I went to uni in the 90s, there was no avoiding it in most circles (or mdma).

I would only say something in case she (?) does it again next year to the child of a parent who's not got a sense of humour.

As other posters have said, other stickers show harder drugs, are sexually explicit etc.

You wouldn't want her to get in trouble.

GlomOfNit · 13/01/2025 10:05

Thanks for the laugh on a Monday morning!

Has anyone looked even closer at that set of stickers? Screw You Stoned Santa isn't the half of it ... she could also have picked Santa and Rudolph get a round in, Stoned Christmas Tree (someone picked up on that, I see), Santa Twerk, and TRUMP SANTA ffs. (take a closer look) Why Trump Santa?!

OP, I know you've had endless suggestions but I'd pop it in an envelope with the sort of lighthearted 'whoops' message already suggested. Everyone knows how hard teachers and TAs work and particularly in the run-up to Christmas, and to put together a little goodie bag for 30 children is definitely above and beyond, but I also think she needs to know to check through the stickers, just in case it happens again.

On the other hand, I'd be sorely tempted to keep that sticker and put it on my phone for next December! Grin

People have been smoking weed from all sorts of receptacles for centuries. It's hardly modern 😂

I think it’s more the slang around it which changes, and is difficult to keep up with, rather than being unaware of the practice!

I’m glad I’m not the only one not knowing what this means, you learn something everyday being on Mumsnet, I wonder if the teacher knows what it means.
