To ask my partner to walk me to the bus stop?

eightsaie · 11/01/2025 09:55

I'm heading into town
The bus stop is a minute walk around the corner but it's really icy outside and my shoes have no grip at all.
I fell over yesterday and got a bit of a shock.
I'm going to grab some better footwear in town.
I said to my partner do you mind walking me to the bus stop so I can hold on to you just incase I fall.
He kicked off saying who walks him back home?
So I get to the bus stop with no thought for him etc etc
Anyway I said it's okay il just walk around myself-if I fall I fall
Aibu to ask him?
He says it's his only day off

Haven't you got any boots? I've got a fear of falling, it has happened to me a few times especially in bad weather. Its certainly frightening . I'm in my 70s but wouldn't dream of asking for help walking, I put my hiking boots on and get going!

Most of the OP's post is about the fact that she did have boots but couldnt find them due to moving house.
She was going into town to get some replacements as she'd had a nasty fall on the ice the day before.

Borrow your husbands shoes

So you've never heard of Klarna? Or a store credit account? Or a credit card?

How weird.

You have heard that some people don’t feel comfortable with or are not in position to be using and paying on credit? How weird indeed.

If you're going to sneer at me,
at least read the response that I already wrote to someone else eager to have a pop.

This thread is wild

I often have to try upwards of 20 pairs of shoes to find some that fit well and are comfortable.

Surprising isn't it?

Me too. Extra wide feet (thanks dad)

My husband's feet are size 13. I hardly think I'd have been safer on ice as a size 6 in massive clown shoes

@eightsaie OP you make perfect sense and my DH would do this in a second.

Oh I don’t know, could be like snow shoes.🤣

Hardly sneering. How can one sneer through written text? I literally replied to you in exactly the same manner as you responded to me. So if you don’t like that “tone” for yourself then you need to have a look at the manner in which you come across to people and don’t be surprised if they respond in kind.

I will read the responses that you or others write to me. If people don’t quote me or directly reply to me then I’m likely to miss it. I’m not going back through the thread to see what you’ve written to someone else. There are pages of discussion on this thread. If you want to make a point then quote who you’re actually talking to and make the comment. I’m not going to do it for you.

Also, if you class people responding to others as having a pop then you also had a pop at the OP. It’s not people having a pop as it’s anonymous, and not remotely personal. It’s just people having their say.

This is quite literally the definition of an online discussion forum. If you feel like you need to take it so personally then maybe it’s not the right place for you. I’m not going to get into a tit for tat about it. I was trying to point out that although that option is an obvious solution in your life to this sort of situation, it won’t be for many others for various reasons.

SouthernBelle2 · 17/01/2025 19:55

Get a pair of shoes suitable for outdoor use. Nothing worse than hanging into someone else in such situations. When you fall (in your unsuitable shoes) you are likely to pull him over too. What a ridiculous post.

If you are going to jump into a long thread three days after the last post then at least read the OP. Better still read all the OP's posts.

SouthernBelle2 · 19/01/2025 10:46

I did read the original post, and no I am not trawling through 15 pages of comments about wearing the wrong shoes. You might have time but my life's too short for that!

Too important and busy to bother reading the post to which you have time to reply? Or to click the link to show you the OP's posts?

From the original post:

"I'm going to grab some better footwear in town."

and

"The bus stop is a minute walk around the corner but it's really icy outside and my shoes have no grip at all. I fell over yesterday and got a bit of a shock"

If you had troubled yourself to click the "posts by OP link" you would also know that the DH has grippy shoes already and her own were lost somewhere in a recent housemve.

All of which would have meant you could save your precious time writing a pointless "cancel the cheque" response, and save even more precious time complaining about having this error pointed out.

HTH. HAND.

Chill, already! Put the MN enforcement badge away, and I'll decide how, when and what I want to comment in my ''precious' time, thank you very much.

@adviceneeded1990 oh for goodness sake
1.i wanted to try the shoes on to make sure they fit
2.a taxi into town /dads would be over £20
And 3.why would I order a Uber eats for a bottle of milk
The min order is around £10

Rather than ask my partner to lend me his arm for a minute to the bus stop

Get a grip

Yanbu to ask him but YABU to start a thread about it just because he said no, also YABU to start people to get a grip because they are not agreeing with you. You asked if YABU majority say you are so there’s your answer. Don’t ask a question if you only want answers that suit you
