Reform UK neck and neck with Labour?

NeatDog · 10/01/2025 11:09

Absolutely shocked to read that in a poll Reform UK are neck and neck with Labour...

About 25% polling share for Reform and Labour.

I thought Blair was the worst PM ever, but Starmer seems to be giving him a run for his money.

Have you looked at a map. Not quite so easy to get to Japan.

Ever heard of the "English Channel"?

Places like Hungary don't have a problem with illegal immigration because they have politicians that actually prevent illegal immigration.

Reform will get a chance - I’m sure of it.

I hope so

Crikeyalmighty · 10/01/2025 12:13

@ExtraOnions if it wouldn't be such a disaster I would love Reform to be in power ( I would already have moved to Europe at this point using nomad visa) just so people can see they are all self interested motormouths and have no actual solutions that work in the real world - what's Farages actual solutions for the 30,000 a year arriving on boats - rather than just rhetoric? What's his solution to creating investment here by multinationals? I wouldn't invest here if I was a company of any size with import/export aspects. People forget the US is not the same, it's its own version of the EU with big enough domestic markets for investment..What were the numbers of people coming on boats pre Brexit when we had more power to have the French stop it in the first place?? - an awful lot lower I know!

We have free speech in this country.

Oh goody, free speech! Now Daz the bricky and Janice the hairdresser can post endlessly on social media about ‘dem immigrunts’ because free speech. Well how wonderful, the world feels so much better already.

Have you seen the way they are treated in Hungary? Hungary's PM another nasty right wing megalomaniac. Even the EU can't stand him

NeatDog · 10/01/2025 11:57

Other parts of the World don't have massive amounts of people turning up expecting free houses and free money.
Maybe Farage could go to places like Japan and see why they don't have mass immigration?

And perhaps he could ponder on this problem facing Japan and how to solve it.

Reform UK neck and neck with Labour?
BigSilly · 10/01/2025 12:14

I also can't remember the last time I was seen by a specialist doctor who wasn't an immigrant, I hope we have plenty of British specialists/consultants waiting to fill those gaps
We will if we train them.

I didn't say it was hypocrisy, it is worrying. If people don't care that someone like that is trying to get involved in our politics, then more fool them. It is less than ideal, to say the least, to have people who don't care about others and support a man because they like a few sound bites, choosing who governs the country. A lack of critical thinking isn't a good thing.

But is it not a failure in critical thinking to attack the messenger rather than the message? Can we take who said it out of the frame and focus on what is being said?

B0xes · 10/01/2025 12:15

noblegiraffe · 10/01/2025 12:14

And perhaps he could ponder on this problem facing Japan and how to solve it.

By replacing the Japanese with people from other parts of the world?

If there are no Japanese people, Japan is gone. Others might inhabit the territory.

So finally we can stop pretending the UK is not a racist country!

NeatDog · 10/01/2025 12:15

The media are always warning us about the "far right".

I think it's the "far left" we should all be scared of.... even on this thread you have people wanting to ban political parties they disagree of. I find that terrifying....

Crikeyalmighty · 10/01/2025 12:15

Oh and @NeatDog you are hardly neutral if you thought Blair was the worst PM - I thought he was the best - you have to give it to Reform though, they have a nice little army of foot soldiers out there bigging them up- without delving into actual policy

GasPanic · 10/01/2025 12:16

A lot of people voted for Labour in the hope they were going to get hosed down with cash, paid for by someone else.

The reality is now kicking in. Labour can't fund cash payouts from taking on more debt. So if they are going to increase spending someone has got to pay for it. This is causing their popularity to plumment from both sides of the equation, from people worried about having to pay more tax to people worried about not getting enough money to live.

Plus in addition they don't seem to be even tackling the problems that do not require large state spending. So basically all round rubbish.

If mainstream politics (Tories/Labour) leave people cold, where are people expected to go to ?

Pinetreethree · 10/01/2025 12:16

Well, I suppose it'll be interesting to see the reactions of all the women happily supporting Reform when they find out Farage's opinions on maternity leave. Spoiler: he has openly said working mothers are worth less than men and thinks mothers should accept their career will be damaged by going on mat leave - all easily found on Google, reported by multiple outlets. He isn't shy about it.

Reform need to be banned immediately before they start to get political traction amongst the working class in the north of England.

This is all the fault of X, and I hope Keir Starmer and the Labour have a robust plan for sanctioning social media sites that allow disinformation free reign to be accessed by ordinary people who do not possess the ability to sift fact from fiction.

Frightening times.

Rather than banning reform for the reason you state maybe Labour and Conservatives should take a long hard look at why there is so much support in the north and act on that ?

Edited

The world is global now, and there is really no need for individual countries with borders and the petty tribalism that comes with it. Japan should be more welcoming of people from other cultures because they will work hard and increase the economy, look after the elderly, and bring with them great food and different perspectives.

noblegiraffe · 10/01/2025 12:14

The Muskrat is an obsessed natalist. He is constantly tweeting about ways to pressure people to have (more) children.

Japanese people are happy to watch their population shrink and their birth rates crash. That’s their business and nobody can force people to have children.

The coastline of Russia and North Korea don’t strike me as likely setting off points. I think the sea at the narrowest point is about 115 miles, as opposed to the 33 miles of the English Channel.

midgetastic · 10/01/2025 12:17

If the message is judged by someone's actions rather than words would that make any difference?

Musks platforms have supported hate and violence against women and girls

Unlike some other rich people he has no big record of funding charitable activities such as protecting vulnerable people

So as a messenger I would say his actions make his words a lie

Reform are the vehicle not the endgame, policy doesn't matter beyond the broadest of strokes at this stage. People look to them to disrupt the corrupt uniparty hegemony first, then refine and discuss detail

Genuine question, and I'm hopeful for a coherent and reasoned response - how do you know what is true and what is not? Why do you feel you can have such confidence in your perspective?

About whether Keir Starmer is complicit in mass rape because he was Director of Public Prosecutions at the time?

I am aware of the law changes he instigated that happened at the time in order to increase prosecutions of gangs while he was in charge. I'm aware that prosecutions of these gangs did happen while he was in charge. I'm aware that he has been singled out for praise by an independent inquiry for the actions that he took on these grooming gangs.

And I'm also aware that the people spreading 'Starmer is complicit in mass rape' line are fucking idiots who don't know what they are talking about because they are spreading other, similar lines which are also untrue like 'Tommy Robinson is in jail for speaking the truth/speaking up about grooming gangs'

So that's why I'm confident in my perspective.

Gtfto2024 · 10/01/2025 12:18

Lol. Particularly at the faux innocence over disinformation.

Which poll? No evidence Hmm disinformation.

I might start exercising my right to posting whatever shit I like without taking responsibility for the outcomes. I bet someone would report the hurty words though.

B0xes · 10/01/2025 12:16

Name the less racist countries please, all of them!

That has no relevance to what I said. The fact there maybe other countries more or less racist than the UK does not stop the UK being a racist country and people should stop pretending otherwise.
