Reform UK neck and neck with Labour?

1000 replies

NeatDog · 10/01/2025 11:09

Absolutely shocked to read that in a poll Reform UK are neck and neck with Labour...

About 25% polling share for Reform and Labour.

I thought Blair was the worst PM ever, but Starmer seems to be giving him a run for his money.

@NeatDog a move supporting the US that was voted through by parliament - including the Tory's, and certainly if Reform had been around they would have voted for it too - indeed I believe only mainly Liberal Democrat's opposed it- it wasn't a unilateral decision just on his shoulders.

It's very easy to say anything populist to the population if you think you aren't going to have to follow through - and yes I think 25% of the population will believe any old shit if it aligns with their views of believing non whites are responsible for the state of things- personally I think a great deal of issues are caused by a certain section of the population who are as white British as they come - and no I'm not pro mass immigration by everyone and it's mother before you say that - I am however anti Brexit because I think that has exacerbated poor quality immigration

How long before my last post is deleted as free speech doesn't exist?

Reform need to be banned immediately before they start to get political traction amongst the working class in the north of England.

This is all the fault of X, and I hope Keir Starmer and the Labour have a robust plan for sanctioning social media sites that allow disinformation free reign to be accessed by ordinary people who do not possess the ability to sift fact from fiction.

Frightening times.

What's frightening is that people like you are so openly democratic that you want to ban political parties you disagree with, and are so anti-democratic that you think people who disagree with you are 'misinformed', and the truly terrifying bit of this is that you genuinely think you are the good person.

If you want to know why politics is in such a mess and parties like Reform are getting traction, you need to look no further than yourself and the attitudes you espouse in this post.

I was thinking about immigration last night, on some level, every single problem the UK faces is made worse by mass immigration.

For instance, we've got a housing crisis and massive rents. If we didn't have mass immigration there would be more houses to go around. I'll be honest, I don't think Labour building on greenbelt is the right thing to do...

So you aren't shocked as you said in your OP You want Reform s anti immigration policies.

Crikeyalmighty · 10/01/2025 12:33

@Gtfto2024 I will add to that in the sense of free speech that there's a high chance it was posted as pure propaganda by an activist with an agenda.

It’s not about them being popular, nobody would be calling for the dissolution of the Liberal Democrats or Green Party if they were to ascend in popularity.

This is about stopping the rise of something more sinister than the world has ever seen. The United States failed in November, we cannot.

In fact, to touch on the American problem for one moment, I do wonder in fact if what we need is the emergence of a European super state, to combat the influence and power of the United States. Individually we are not enough to exert pressure on a geopolitical scale, but united we could be even more powerful than the imperialism that Donald Trump is going to manifest in the future.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 10/01/2025 12:33

Maybe Reform should win the next general election.

I fully expect them to sort out any and ALL issues within six months like they expect this Labour government to have done. And if not then they are utter failures. 😂

And if they do win the next GE, the world will chuckle even more at the UK.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 10/01/2025 12:33

I’m disappointed but not surprised. Labours continued insistence to not read the room is baffling. I don’t understand what they are trying achieve right now.

Voting intention: 8th Jan 2025 - Find Out Now https://search.app/1spjsEGTLWMH6M1s6

Here. I think.

Based on a voting sample of 2000 people. Right. Very reliable evidence then 🤔

twistyizzy · 10/01/2025 11:34

You can't just ban things fgs 🙄
What we need is a proper grown up conversation about why people are turning to Reform. Every time Labour try to cancel dissent by calling it "far right" they turn more people to Reform. Just like you calling for Reform to be banned rather than really understanding the reasons for its rise in popularity.

People are sick of the 2 mainstream parties and are desperate for alternatives, they feel ignored, disenfranchised and politically homeless. Labour are doing nothing to reverse this and every misstep they make just opens the door to Reform.
Even on MN, the frequent responses to anyone criticising Labour is "oh you are just a Tory bot" which only has the effect of turning more people away from mainstream parties.

Absolutely all of this. There are people on this thread who have learnt absolutely nothing from the Democrats disastrous response to voters' concerns and to Trump's candidacy, and their disastrous response handed him his victory.

No one except you is calling for the dissolution of any mainstream political party. It's an absolutely batshit suggestion.

ExtraOnions · 10/01/2025 11:54

For a leader of a minor party, Farage and his cronies get a huge amount if coverage, and very little of it looks in-depth at any policies. It’s easy to promise, when you don’t have to deliver - they have no answer to the simplest of questions about their keystone policy.. which is immigration. How would they reduce it ?

You will get people supporting you, when you tell them you have a magic plan, that will solve all their issues (when you don’t have one at alll)

It will be interesting when Reform's policies are put under the microscope and they have to answer some searching questions.

Would u be OK with the rise of a British equivalent of the nazi party?

These threads on MN and my real life is just full of attitudes like that poster's. You reckon they are all trolling, do you?

devilspawn · 10/01/2025 12:39

You can find a poll to support anything.

And how on earth you reach the conclusion that anyone is a worse UK PM than Liz Truss I don't know.

Regardless, Reform will do fine in the local elections that no one cares about and use as a protest vote, but everyone knows that voting Tory is the only way to get rid of Labour at nationals and they'd be stupid to think otherwise.

chicken2015 · 10/01/2025 12:37

My what an original argument. Comparing anything you don't like to the Nazis and thinking that means you win.

'Reform want to increase the cost of your online shop to give businesses a tax break'

'Reform are going to tax companies who hire foreign skilled workers and put them out of business'

I have a few questions about those policies. And of course their education ones.

Other parts of the World don't have massive amounts of people turning up expecting free houses and free money.
Maybe Farage could go to places like Japan and see why they don't have mass immigration?

Perhaps you could do some research and see where the UK actually sits in terms of the numbers of refugees we take.

noblegiraffe · 10/01/2025 12:41

chicken2015 · 10/01/2025 12:37

Like the BNP?

I think Britain has more natural resistance to that sort of extremism than other countries.
