Reform UK neck and neck with Labour?

1000 replies

NeatDog · 10/01/2025 11:09

Absolutely shocked to read that in a poll Reform UK are neck and neck with Labour...

About 25% polling share for Reform and Labour.

I thought Blair was the worst PM ever, but Starmer seems to be giving him a run for his money.

This ‘bot’ claim is inevitable after a few posts from Labour, on every thread

Going by polling mn should be more of a mix I’m not sure why pro Labour think it should be the only site not reflecting current criticisms and shifts in public reaction

But he's not a bad PM. I believe he is a decent principled man. The right wing press have launched an absolute onslaught since he came to power. Musk is fanning those flames and reform voters are stupid enough to buy into that tripe.
Yes the winter fuel policy is not popular, neither is some of their economic policies but they've got a hell of a lot of sorting out to do after 14 years of the nasty Tories.

I've absolutely no problem with skilled immigration..... none at all.

Reform do, and want to tax businesses who hire skilled immigrants.

Tvp123 · 10/01/2025 12:03

We live in a world full of uneducated, selfish idiots. People are moving to the right and so this doesn't surprise me. I don't agree with any of it and it saddens me but I'm not surprised, especially with fear mongering and misinformation campaigns being run by the right and Russia.

Labour will need to take more responsibility for failings and stalling growth if they want to stave off Reform

That's the funny thing, all the complaints about jobs being "taken" from Brits. I used to work with an employment service (closely linked to Job Centre but not them), and the amount of people born and bred in this country who sat and told me they'd do "anything" apart from cleaning, office work, don't want to work with the public, definitely not care work... I also can't remember the last time I was seen by a specialist doctor who wasn't an immigrant, I hope we have plenty of British specialists/consultants waiting to fill those gaps.

Edited

We don’t, British people are lazy. The only reason Britain even had an empire in the first place is because it was built on the backs of hard work by indentured servitude carried out by people from other countries.

People are cutting their noses off to spite their face by wanting immigration reduced. If they got what they wanted we’d be back to living in straw huts and throwing witches into lakes within a decade.

Seriously?

The 'Keir Starmer is complicit in mass rape' shite.

Genuine question, and I'm hopeful for a coherent and reasoned response - how do you know what is true and what is not? Why do you feel you can have such confidence in your perspective?

WitchesCauldron · 10/01/2025 12:05

midgetastic · 10/01/2025 11:29

Nope

Labour haven't had time to make positive change against a strong global headwind and a 14 year Tory total fuck

But people are impatient and desperate so ...

In times of crisis people do move to the far right - that's why hitler was so popular. History repeats itself and people are surprised

Spot on. I genuinely despair that people still give Farage the time of day after the absolute sh*tshow of brexit.

ExtraOnions · 10/01/2025 12:05

NeatDog · 10/01/2025 11:57

Other parts of the World don't have massive amounts of people turning up expecting free houses and free money.
Maybe Farage could go to places like Japan and see why they don't have mass immigration?

Maybe he could, and then translate that into a workable and costed policy. Taking into account the specific geography of Japan, the difference in economic means of production, and the differing social expectations.

Upstartled · 10/01/2025 12:05

I don't find this surprising at all. I haven't seen a poll yet in which Reform haven't improved their position since July. Meanwhile the popularity of Labour has tanked like a stone.

It's odd to see people hailing Musk as some sort of beacon of justice. I wonder if they actually know anything about how he treats the most recent mother of his children, and how he has spoken about women in the past, links to Andrew Tate, etc. It's so clear this is all being done as a boost for his own personal and political gain, and people either don't see that, or say they don't care as long as he's highlighting issues (which, knowing his political and personal opinions which have been well publicised, is scary).

I don't have an issue with Starmer either - I don't understand how he's meant to fix the absolute mess left by the Tories in a matter of months, or without things being tougher for a while.

B0xes · 10/01/2025 12:06

Reform are the natural consequence of the failures of both main parties. If they didn't create such a void then something else was going to meet demand in the electorate

EuclidianGeometryFan · 10/01/2025 12:07

HappyPanda613 · 10/01/2025 11:28

Reform need to be banned immediately before they start to get political traction amongst the working class in the north of England.

This is all the fault of X, and I hope Keir Starmer and the Labour have a robust plan for sanctioning social media sites that allow disinformation free reign to be accessed by ordinary people who do not possess the ability to sift fact from fiction.

Frightening times.

Good Lord.
Again, as I said on another thread to you, I really, really hope this is sarcasm...
I just can't tell with you.

noblegiraffe · 10/01/2025 11:25

I'd be surprised if the massive disinformation campaign didn't have any impact.

Yep. And there's no arguing with the Musk fans. They're really very dim and don't even appear to realise they're shouting in an echo chamber.

I think people don't care. And that's fair enough, I'm not sure that even counts as hypocrisy, why would it?

boredsillybyfireworks · 10/01/2025 12:08

We have free speech in this country.

ReflectAndLearn · 10/01/2025 12:08

I was thinking about immigration last night, on some level, every single problem the UK faces is made worse by mass immigration.

We need immigration. We need people who work hard, educate their kids, pay taxes and assimilate. They add value. We should have no beef with these people, it’s not fair.

What we don’t need are freeloaders, people who play the system and of course child-rape gangs.

It’s time for a national enquiry, and for those guilty of raping children to be expelled from this country and for our immigration policy to not welcome people (males) whose culture is not compatible with our way of life.

Go read what is happening in Sweden. They have more immigrants leaving than arriving because they’ve had a grown up conversation and are doing something about it.

Have you looked at a map. Not quite so easy to get to Japan.

For being in power 6 months after over a decade of conservatives failing? Like seriously ur expecting Labour to right the wrongs of 13 years of wrongs in 6 months!

Everything about Musk gives me the creeps.
Agree 100% re Starmer.
I really hope he holds firm and keeps his nerve. He should also be summoning the US ambassador and demanding why a US citizen is inciting rebellion towards the UK government.

Absolutely, the failure of the Tories to deliver on their rhetoric with Boris and Labour's inability to offer anything hopeful seems to have galvanised Reform's position.

Tvp123 · 10/01/2025 12:09

That's not the primary reason. Most the migrants in the UK are arriving by plane.

I didn't say it was hypocrisy, it is worrying. If people don't care that someone like that is trying to get involved in our politics, then more fool them. It is less than ideal, to say the least, to have people who don't care about others and support a man because they like a few sound bites, choosing who governs the country. A lack of critical thinking isn't a good thing.
