Is it disrespectful/problematic to take a sex toy in hand luggage to Marrakech?

We are going to Marrakech for a holiday in a few weeks and I would like to take my vibrator.

I’m likely to take just cabin bags.

Will I encounter issues either going through or leaving the airport? I know it’s not illegal but I don’t want issues - or to appear disrespectful.

No judgments please, advice only.

Unnecessary comment

Face it OP, it's what we were all thinking.

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 09/01/2025 11:56

If you’re taking cabin bags it’s just weird. They will likely have to pull your bag out, search it, pull out the item etc. it does seem disrespectful to me.

Either check in a bag or go without for a few days. There’s so much to do in Marrakech anyway why will you need it???

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 09/01/2025 11:57

Is this a family holiday? I can’t imagine much more embarrassing than being at the airport and having them whip out my mums sex toy from her luggage! Honestly even if it was the only way I could orgasm I’d go without it if I wasn’t taking hold luggage.

Kenway01 · 09/01/2025 11:57

the other option is buy a vib when your there ?

sleepitoff · 09/01/2025 11:58

Ok, thanks all. I’ll have a think about what I’m going to do.

Obviously women have sex/masrurbate in other countries too, so it’s not necessarily disrespectful to take it/use it, but I wouldn’t want to come face to face with the security guy scanning it so for that reason I wouldn’t take it in hand luggage.

can you not survive with your hand for a few days?

Quite!

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 09/01/2025 11:59

Please help me understand though OP, why can’t you just focus on the holiday for a few days? Or check in a bag if it’s that important to you 🤣

Kenway01 · 09/01/2025 11:59

if you want to get around the perspective that is a massarger, then id recommend upgrading to the one they call magic wand vibrator

devilspawn · 09/01/2025 12:00

I'd be paranoid it would go off and just start buzzing, my electric toothbrush did that once and I'm sure people assumed it was something else.

at a guess i think some people have a very high drive and need a daily release

That’s true, I hadn’t thought of that.

Good luck finding a shop that sells vibrators in Marrakech😂

Magnastorm · 09/01/2025 12:02

It'll be fine, the security people would have seen everything by this point so they won't bat an eyelid.

I'd maybe think about taking something that is not obviously a huge dildo but that is entirely down to whether you care about the person manning the xray machine seeing it on their screen or not. Probably worth taking the batteries out as well.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 09/01/2025 12:02

You'll have to taje tge batteries out or it will have to go in "the tray" at the airport

Definitely disrespectful to expect someone to possibly have to handle it, not disrespectful to take it on holiday unless you’re rooming with a friend.

ruethewhirl · 09/01/2025 12:05

I've no idea on the legality of this, but I'd not do it because of the potential for embarrassment.

travelallthetime · 09/01/2025 12:09

Those saying they are 'sure it will be fine'.....it is illegal to take a sex toy into many countries, The Maldives, Thailand, UAE for example. Off the top of my head im not sure about Morrocco but I would be doing some research before you go!

Viviennemary · 09/01/2025 12:14

How ridiculous.

Seasonsfeastings · 09/01/2025 12:15

I put my little purple bullet in my make up bag, never got questioned or asked about it.

That happened to me! My electric toothbrush started up in a lift going to car hire from arrivals. It was in my big suitcase (hold luggage size) and the family we were in the lift with were in hysterics. I said 'oh no, my toothbrush' but they clearly didn't believe me LOL.

They search people's dirty washing.

They're not that sensitive (unlike us).

Taxbreaks · 09/01/2025 12:16

If sharing a room with someone you're not married to is an issue there, I would expect having a sex toy to generate some hostility and potentially lead to victim-blaming in the event of any problematic interactions with immigration officers, hotel staff, shop workers or taxi drivers.

Squeekey · 09/01/2025 12:17

Comedically large obvious phallic one - I wouldn't. A more neutrally designed or bullet style, crack on.

NPET · 09/01/2025 12:17

It certainly isn't disrespectful!!
Only problem I guess is if you're picked out for a search at the airport and you get a male officer doing the search. But even that wld only be a prob if you're embarrassed personally cos they'd be used to such things anyway.
I've taken them (plural) without any probs!
