I’ve put this on AIBU as it appears to be most read. A brilliant article about the rape gangs and the ensuing cover up.

Their words were ‘please give all the tragic victims of these Muslim Monsters…’

This is clearly racist and inflammatory language. Other people are never described as these Christian rapists or these Sikh rapists.

Where are the Christian and Sikh child rapist gangs, committing such atrocious acts in unfathomably large numbers on our own green and (once) pleasant land?

Oh wait...

Which stats are those?

Don’t feed the troll.
TRA tactic.

Arguments are intended to goad.

Since most grooming gangs are white are you saying all white people are Christian?

A priest is a vocation, like a teacher, doctor, a lawyer. The poster didn’t say paedo Christians.

Edited

Don’t be disingenuous. Priests are Christians; doctors and lawyers are not a specific religion. It is a bit like saying paedo Imams or paedo Rabbis. Priest is quite clearly a Christian religious role. And ‘paedo priest’ is used because of the alliteration. Indeed it is so ingrained that on MN Catholic priests are often collectively referenced as paedo priests.

All this arguing over politics and Elon musk is a smoke screen. I don't like musk at all but he's shining a light on something very serious that people can't talk about without it descending into arguing about if it's racist to discuss it.

These horrible things happened. Those in power actively avoided dealing with it out i fear of being accused of racism. Those who spoke up were silenced. Even now people speaking up are trying to be silenced with accusations of racism. It's just so many are discussing this now they can't be silenced to sit this massive argument.

I want to live in a country that is safe for women and children. There is a demographic of people who are overly represented proportionally in the stats on perpetrators. This is a fact. I do not want the same rights for women and children that the countries these people originate from have. But they are here influencing our culture and doing this to our daughters.

And of course it's not all Muslims. Of course there are white/Christian/women abusers. But when you look at the actual numbers it is fucking concerning. The fact it's not being dealt with is fucking concerning.

People argue we don't need another enquiry or that the individual councils should investigate themselves. We should just get on with the recommendations of he 2022 report. But that didn't look into why this demographic has an easier time getting away with this than other democratically. It didn't look into the cultural/religious influences on the perpetrators behaviour or address how we can tackle this problem. And I would be willing to bet if it was looked at again we would find this stuff is still happening at alarming rates and still not being dealt with out of fear of being accused of Islamophobia. Just look at the reactions on this thread! I know I would not feel able to comment what I have here if I wasn't anonymous. As long as we are not inciting violence or hatered or encouraging discrimination we should be able to talk about this! We should be allowed to be concerned and want to find ways to stop this happening. I don't care about the politics I don't like musk as a person but I do very much care about the girls suffering like this and that their reality is people are too scared to protect them so turn a blind eye

So why are you not challenging that poster? Why were you quiet with them?

"Since most grooming gangs are white.." This is just incorrect. The latest government report said 84% were Pakistani muslim heritage. We now have nearly 50 documented child rape and torture gangs aka grooming gangs and ALL HAVE THEM have been majority Pakistani muslim. Not one of these gangs has been majority Sikh, majority Hindu, majority white English, majority Chinese. Most grooming gangs come from one ethnicity - Pakistani muslim.

Barr77 · 09/01/2025 00:05

@PeppyGreenFinch
In this specific grooming scandal, the perpetrators were of Pakistani heritage and identified as Muslim.

Similarly, when priests were found guilty of sexual abuse, they were Catholic, and the Catholic Church covered it up for years.

Pope Francis formally apologised in 2018 during a visit to Ireland for the World Meeting of Families, acknowledging the “suffering” of victims and the “failures” of the Church. His apology was part of the ongoing effort to address sexual abuse within the Church.

It would be helpful if UK Muslim leaders, who represent the community, issued a statement denouncing these acts and making it clear that the perpetrators were not acting in the name of Islam. It took the church long enough, and the damage wrought by the silence was immeasurable.

Because there was an issue within the Catholic Church and in the way the establishment responded to claims of abuse from children that meant it did need to be looked at and addressed. And very belatedly it was. To get wound up by ‘paedo priest’ is the same as claiming upset over ‘Muslim grooming gang’; it silences the victims and denies the crimes. Of course not all priests were offenders but denying there was a pattern not only in who offended but in how they were protected because of their specific characteristics would be to be complicit in that abuse. Looking at the failures around that abuse didn’t stop all abuse but hopefully has made it less likely within the church and ensure reports are responded to promptly and correctly in future. The same thing needs to happen with Muslim grooming gangs.

You’re not getting it. Pp are saying ‘Muslim Monsters’ like it’s a defined term.

It’s unacceptable, and sad that you can’t see that.

No YOU are not getting it. The victims are the abused children not adults who take offence because they might be linked with offenders they share characteristics with. Why are you SO determined to ignore the victims here? The men who abused those girls were monsters.

This is so disingenuous it’s unreal. Muslim leaders have been issuing statements for years. A 2 second Google would bring this up for you.

Maybe they could make it clear via a public religious sermon that highlights that the Koran says Muslims should protect children and the vulnerable, read by 100s of imams in Friday worship, and a media story about them doing this?

They already did in 2013 www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-23087686.amp

Go back and re read my posts, I have. The ones responsible for derailing the thread are ones who throw around terms like Muslim Monsters with zero self - awareness. Appalling.

dcbgr · 09/01/2025 00:26

Many muslim leaders and their apologists have followed the classic DAVRO playbook.

Deny: the girls gave consent, it never happened
Attack: they were slags, the uncovered sweet gets the flies etc etc
Reverse Victim and Offender: Islamophobia, we are minorities, colonial oppression.

There has been no visible, comprehensive, open and convincing attempt by the muslim community to address the problem and deal with the offenders. We hear many offenders with minimal or no sentencing and resisting deportation are still in good standing in their community. The guilty and unashamed and unpunished should be repudiated by all decent men and women. That is clearly not the case.

PeppyGreenFinch · 09/01/2025 00:26

Are you even listening to yourself? Where have I said I don’t want that?

The ones who want that want Jess Phillips to be able to knuckle down and do her job, and not be distracted by a moron like Musk who had to buy himself out of sexual abuse allegations by female staff.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/01/2025 00:27

I'm just glad it's all being talked about and I hope Starmer will continue to be under pressure to do something useful. The end.
