I certainly wouldn't want some prick of a man (who is on dodgy ground with who he associates with) trying to talk for me. And tbh, what actually needs to happen is that rather than all this uproar, something needs to be done to address the culture where some (mainly) men, of all nationalities, feel empowered to treat children in this way.
As females we are still very much at the mercy of men, most females are physically weaker that men and if we are assaulted there is still an undercurrent that we must have done something to deserve it. Whether that be dressing in what may be considered a "provocative" manner, dared to walk home along after dark or having had a little too much to drink. Or in the cases this thread is talking about, simply having had a chaotic homelife.
There is a brilliant Tracy Ullman sketch that highlights this issue. In it she's interviewing a mugging victim, using the blaming terminology that is often used towards women/girls who have experienced SA.
Anyway I think that what I'm saying is the grooming gangs are a symptom of societal problem, where somehow the victims are blamed for what happens to them. And that is blamed by the authorities abusers (of all races and religions) and let's be honest by some of the members of the public.
It's this that needs to.be tackled more than anything. Because until attitudes towards.the victims changes then the crimes will.simply carry on.
