Off the lead and enjoying a run around, we were the only people in that area of the national trust park,
It was closed to cars and not many people brave (or stupid) enough to walk.

We stumbled upon a lovely little family of snowmen,
however the one that she could reach was a really small but brilliant feathers McGraw with a carrot for a beak. I was going to take a photo and realised she's pinched his beak and ate it!

She's never stolen anything before but she was so fast!

@PlopSofa if we say we're so sorry and we all bow down to plopsofa and we will always keep our dogs on a lead 24/7 and only go out at night so as not to upset plopsofa will you go away?

Clearly not

Fleurdalys · 09/01/2025 12:48

@PlopSofa
Nicking a carrot is wrong and potentially upsetting

Never heard such bullshite in my life 😂😂😂

CoubousAndTourmalet · 09/01/2025 12:58

PAT is Pets As Therapy. They take dogs to hospitals, nursing homes etc.

I understand how difficult it is. After our previous puppy was attacked by an off lead dog I was anxious around loose dogs myself for a long time. I'm getting better but still very nervous of black Labradors. And I've been around dogs for 40 years. One bad experience really does have a massive impact, it is understandable that your son is petrified. It sounds as if you are going about this very sensibly, getting out with a doggy friend but obviously it will take quite a while for him to get over it.

I'll admit that I do notice people crossing the road to avoid my pup; she loves everyone but she is very large and I'm always mindful of the fact that people do have fear of dogs. I think a little compassion goes a long way x

One of our dogs overturned the bin and when I got home she was wearing the swing bin lid as a necklace.

Had similar, but DDog explained that the bin had 'sploded, and she was trying to protect the house and accidentally got in the way

One of our cats jumped onto the swing bin at the vets and disappeared. He was a 23lb bruiser and we struggled to get him out because we were all laughing too much.

@CoubousAndTourmalet thank you for your kindness and understanding and also sharing your experience. It’s helped me give me something to think about how to solve this and like I’m not alone in all of this. I’m also well practised with dogs, not recently but I know them very well and always see them as benign and friendly on the whole so it was a massive surprise with what happened to DS. Perhaps people just can’t understand until it happens to them. The line between funny and fear has been crossed for me and I’m now more wary. I just wanted others to know that there is a line and it’s important to do everything you can not to cross it. I’ve been ridiculed for that, but never mind.

I will look at PAT and see if there is something that would help. He’s very reluctant to have anything to do with dogs but I’d like him to at least not feel scared anymore. Good luck with your new pup. 🐶

My labratwat took a massive dump on the floor in the reception of the vets this afternoon. I was horrified! And it STANK the place out. I didn’t have a bag on me either so one of the other waiting patients owners had to give me poo bag and the poor receptionist had to wipe the residue up while I held the front door open to air the place out and made everyone freeze. It was only after I realised the receptionist was having her lunch 🤢

Mortified I tell you.

When I went to collect my girl from the vet it was 4.30 by the time the vet had finished waffling on and what not it was 5pm. This is relevant because my girl is REGULAR. 5pm is poop time. As we went into the hall she saw my husband and proceeded to do her wiggle butt happy dance but she also needed to poop. So what we got was a very happy dog flicking poop nuggets all over the vets office while she danced in joy. Ashamed is not the word

This is so funny and cuuuuuute xx

Glad I’m not the only one who calls their Labrador a Labratwat!

Does anyone else's dog do interior decorating at night? Most nights she takes her duck to bed with her and sucks it to sleep

Occasionally she goes absolutely insane like last night and we woke up to every single teddy and plush toy she has on the bed. At least 8 toys on the bed this morning.

My boy too.

Look at that face!!! What's their name?

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 10/01/2025 09:05

@Sn000w, he's called Thunder. I can tell you that's it's very appropriate! 🤣

He's been pissing all over massive lumps of snow this week, which I assume are ex-snowmen! Do you reckon that's allowed?! 🤔😁

Anewuser · 10/01/2025 09:18

Morning.

Thank god for that, I can come back again. Didn’t look yesterday, as I didn’t like the way the thread had been taken over.

I have always had labratwats as well. I never realised that should have been their given name. Just makes sense.

One of mine ate a tiny sock, but we didn’t realise until it eventually passed through her at the vets….£700 later.

Thank you for all the lovely/funny stories. Some of us really need these.

I hope PlopSofa really does go away. It was my dog that stole a sandwich (she was a puppy), she was forgiven by the family, nobody was hurt, the picnic wasn’t ruined.

Sn000w · 11/01/2025 05:16

@Moll2020 my old dog stole the window cleaners furry mop thing and I only realised when we got home and he was proudly parading his new toy.
Never managed to find the window cleaner again!

We also had a hilarious moment a few years ago where my mum had given us some absolute tat Christmas decorations. 2 of which were light up snow men, he went over to the corner with the Christmas decorations and ever so gently picked up a snow man and brought it back to us. We told him no and took it off him.

Fast forward 2 hours and he went back over to the Christmas decoration corner and came back with the second snow man carried so gently to us. It was like he knew there were two!

Not just dogs - my cat was fascinated by the guy who came to service the fire. She carefully inspected his tool box and hooked out a little brush. I took it off her and put it back, apologizing. He laughed. She looked at us both, and hooked it out again. He put it back. At this point I swear she rolled her eyes, hooked it out again and then walked away, leaving it on the rug. Fortunately, he thought it was hilarious.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 11/01/2025 17:23

Dog is obsessed with shoes. One day we had a plumber round to repair a leaky tap. He took his shoes off before going upstairs and before I could blink DDog was running around with his shoe in her mouth. Thankfully he saw the funny side.
